Telly Talk Star
Autum 2012 . . .

JR, Gary and Bobby stand by Miss Ellie's grave site, fresh soil and a new stone. Ray steps up next to Bobby. No one says anything. Sue Ellen steps up next to JR. There are headstones for Clayton and Miss Ellie's parents and her brother. A tree overhead shades them from the hot Texas son. Lucy steps up next to Gary.

Away from them a very large crowd of people make their way to a line up of cars.

A television news reporter states, "Eleanor Ewing Farlow, Miss Ellie to the people of Texas, died as she lived, giving to the people around her. She had set up the Ewing Family Foundation some years ago to protect the land of her family's South Fork Ranch and to give generously to numerous causes around Dallas. She set up the foundation with the single largest block of shares in the CalcoHarwood Corporation. Her second husband, the late Clayton Farlow was one of West Star's largest shareholders before the company was merged with CalcoHarwood as arranged by her eldest son and West Star Chairman, the legendary oilman JR Ewing. The board of the Ewing Family Foundation is comprised of her sons Gary and Bobby Ewing as well as her x-daughter-in-law, Sue Ellen Ewing, who serves as the foundation's President. Miss Ellie's final act of generosity was to leave the mineral rights of South Fork to the foundation. Some have estimated those mineral right alone to be worth well over ten billion dollars.

Her grandson, John Ross Ewing the third, has announced his company, oil field services giant Ewing Oil, will begin slant drilling from the neighboring McKay Ranch as well as construct a new pipeline to a CalcoHarwood refinery in keeping with Miss Ellie's wishes to leave the land unharmed. Another grandson, Christopher Shepard, who is the Chairman and CEO of CalcoHarwood, owns the McKay Ranch.

Sue Ewing announced the foundation has already begun plans to give away over the next ten years."

Bobby walks up from the cottage out back at South Fork to find Sue Ellen sitting by the pool. He says, "I never thought when momma left me the ranch I'd ever see her give the mineral rights away."

"It's the right thing to do, instead of leaving all that oil underground."

"I suppose so." Bobby sits down next to her.

"Gary and Val get off alright?"

"Yeah. They're probably already halfway to California by now. Ray's staying with Lucas at the Wade Ranch before heading back in the morning.

"JR's probably already back on that ship of his."

"Probably." Bobby sighs heavy, "And everything does back to normal."

"It'll never be normal again around here Bobby."

"I'm glad to see moved in here to help John Ross with Ross and momma."

"Of course. I enjoy watching my grandson grown up. And it meant a lot to me to be here for Miss Ellie when she needed me. I'm glad she left the house to John Ross."

"I am too. And I'm glad we sold him Ewing Oil. He's done a good job. People tell me he reminds them of my daddy. He was even out there helpin' with that brush fire a few weeks back. You've raised a hell of a man."

"Thank you. And thank you for all the times you've been there for him."

"Of course. He's like a son to me."

"You OK Bobby?"

"You mean Christopher? Ever since he ganged up with Cliff to oust JR from CalcoHarwood, I don't think we've spoke two words. You know JR told me as mad as he was at him, he was a bit proud too."

"JR would be."

"I been thinking of Pam a lot lately. I just wish . . ."

"It's ok Bobby."

"I think sometimes things with Chris would be different if she had been around."

"I'm sure they would have."

"I still can't believe she just turned over her third of Barnes Holdings to Chris and he . . . Well, JR's settled with it anyway. Chris has made him a lot of money and John Ross has both the house and company, JR never really did care about the land or the ranch. And he's got his JRE Enterprises to keep him occupied."

"I'm just glad he didn't go fighting to get back control of CalcoHarwood."

"So am I." Sue Ellen stands. "Come on Bobby let's go inside. It's almost six and you wouldn't want to be late for dinner would ya?"

"What'd Helena make?"

"She said John Ross's favorite."

"Pot roast again," Bobby complains while standing up.

Sue Ellen and Bobby walk into Miss Ellie's living room to find a smiling JR offering them a drink. "Bourbon right Bob. And a soft one for you darlin'"

"What are you doing here?" Bobby asks.

"Well Bob," JR says handing him and Sue Ellen their drinks, "I got to think'n, why am I gonna leave? I mean we're family to consider." The door bell rings. JR excuses himself. He returns with a beautiful young Hispanic woman and says, "I invited Amy Anderson to diner. You'all remember Punk and Mavis Anderson's granddaughter. Amy this is my brother Bobby and my wife Sue Ellen."

"X-wife," Sue Ellen corrects him.

"Amy here's Marv's little girl. He married Johanna, Carlos Haddad's daughter. You remember my friend Carlos. Well what can I get ya to drink Miss Amy?"

"Gin and Dubonnet, please."

"Of course. Comin' right up."

John Ross and a ten year old boy enter the room next.

JR speaks up, "Well here they are. Amy this is my boy. I told you all about him. John Ross, this is an old family friend, Amy Anderson. And Amy this is my grandson, John Ross Ewing the forth."

Amy greets both of them, seeming to pay particular attention to Ross. "I hear you love horses."

"Yes ma'am."

"I do too. I've spent my whole life riding."

John Ross asks, "What are you still doing here?"

JR makes him a drink. "Well I got to thinkin', I got a lot of work to do to put this family back together. You need a good wife and that boy needs a mother."

"He's got a mother."

"That Barnes girls? Hell, a cat makes a better mother. And your cousins, we got to get Chris and Lucas back around here. We're family. We're Ewing's." He hands John Ross a drink and whispers, "And about time your momma and I were livin' under the same roof again. And I got this girl for your Uncle Bobby. Wait 'till you meet her." He then announce to the room, "Well jets head on in." He takes Amy's arm, "Helena's one terrific cook. Her aunt, Teresa use to work for my mother. There family's been part of South Fork for over a hundred years."

In the dinning room JR says, "Now John Ross sits where my daddy use to sit. And here Amy. Why don't you sit next to him? You young people probably have more to talk about. And Bob you sit here. And Sue Ellen right there next to Amy. And Ross you sit between your grandpa and Uncle Bobby. I'm gonna sit in my momma's chair. There we go. Now Sue Ellen darlin' make sure you talk our boy up. Tell her about the time John Ross was wildcatting up in the Dakotas doin' that frackin' they do to get at oil we never even dreamed about in our day, ha Bob. And, that oil rig explosion. They say he saved seven people." JR laughs as Helena brings in the pot roast.

Dallas theme song:

Three originals:
Bobby Ewing
JR Ewing
Sue Ellen Ewing

Three originals grown up:
John Ross Ewing
Christopher Shepard
Pamela Barnes

Five new characters:
Amy Anderson
Jared Wendell
Jessica Lee
Bo Ewing
and
Ross Ewing

High up on the top floor of the CalcoHarwood building in Dallas the board of directors of the company gathers. JR is over joyed to see Jeremy Wendell's son Jared and asks him about dating his x-daughter-in-law. "Well it must be difficult. After all that woman's s career gal and she don't have time much for son, let alone a boyfriend." He then meets up with Chris. He hugs him and says, "Well if it ain't my long lost nephew. I know I've been gone a while, but I've heard some good things about you. Heard you bankrupted old McKay. Now I'm just waiting to hear what you do with Wendell's boy here." JR pats him on the shoulder. Should be interesting to watch." He then sees Pamela, "Well I'll be damned. I heard your daddy stepped down and you took his place but I just didn't believe that old termite actually retired. You runnin' Barnes Holdings on your own too, I hear."

"That's right JR. I am. What brings you back to Dallas after all this time?"

"Well darlin' my family needs me. My boys been alone too long. I got to find him a decent girl. One with a pedigree. I can't trust him on his own when it comes to findin' a good woman. And Chris here. Well he's strayed a long ways from home. I promised my momma on her death bed I'd fix things with my brother Bobby and his boys. And well my grandson, you remember little Jack don't ya? Well he ain't so little anymore. He's growin' up fast."

John Ross works an oil rig on the McKay ranch with a bunch of riggers when a gusher comes in and they race to cap it. He grabs a hold of a young man and hugs him. "You didn't it Bo. You did it. How's it feel to bring up your first play?"

"Pretty damned exciting brother!"

"Glad I could be here for it. They'll get this capped and than we'll celebrate."

"It's a deal!"

A few hours later John Ross and Beau sit up at a bar in a dive of a place. They toast with their crew. John Ross says, "Here's to the Bo Ewing Company's first strike. And to many more." There's toasting and a ruckus to follow. A beautiful young girl comes up to flirt with John Ross. John Ross says, "Bo this is an old friend of the family's, Jessica Lee. She's Jordan Lee's granddaughter. Ask my momma about the Lee's, she'll tell ya all about them. Jessica this is my brother Bo Ewing. He's been working a play that just came in."

"I heard. Everybody's heard. They're saying there's more oil down there than anyone thought."

"Apparently."

Few hours later Bo and Jessica and stripping naked in a hotel room going at it fast and ferocious.

At South Fork, back in the living room JR makes up a drink as Bobby comes in from the back. JR hands him a drink. "Another hard day shuffling around cow pies?"

"Something like that JR."

"I saw you walking up to your little cottage out back pretty filthy. Reminded me why momma expected us to dress for dinner. Say why you stay'n out back anyway?"

"When momma came home, after Clayton passed away, and then John Ross moved in with Pamela, I just thought he needed to be here with just his family, you know after Ross was born. They were talking about havin' several kids."

"Yea don't remind me."

"He loves her you know. Despite what you want. Shame the two of 'em couldn't make it work. Neither one ever believed the other loved 'em. Shame really."

"Shame is that boy ain't done a lick of work since Ross was born."

"What do you mean? He's been working with Bo on the drillin' South Fork. Ain't that enough for ya? He helps me out with the ranch most times. Meets with the people he's got working for him here. Just because he doesn't go into the office everyday doesn't mean he's not working. And he spends a lot of time with his son. A lot more than me or you ever did."

"Letting hired hands running Ewing Oil. That's a problem Bob. You can't stay on top the oil business hangin' around the house."

"You've run you investments from a ship for years."

"That's different. I'm talking about the day to day of a business. Like CalcoHarwood. You can't phone that in."

"Lay off the boy."

"I've got a meeting in Manam I'm leaving for in the morning. I've got something big I'm setting up."

"OK."

"I get John Ross behind this we'll double the size of Ewing Oil."

"Have you talked to John Ross about it?"

"No. I've got a few things to pull together first."

Sue Ellen walks in. "I heard Bo's joining us for dinner and is bring home a girl."

"What girl?" JR asks.

"Helena didn't know."

"He better not be bringing home some tart into this house. That boy and his women. I've got to get him to settle down."

Sue Ellen and Bobby look at each other with disbelief.

The Ewing's walk across the entry into the dinning room, including Bo with Jessica Lee and John Ross with Amy Anderson.

JR grabs Bo's arm, "A Lee? Really?"

"What?"Bo questions and JR let's go of him in disgust. They're the last two into the dinning room.

Pamela sits at her office desk across from Chris late that evening, "I don't care about what went on. You've got the best chance of either of us to get John Ross and Bo to trust him. Once John Ross sells part of Ewing Oil to Bo we need to be there to take it."

Jared turns around at a bar and says, "He's sitting on fracking patents we need. Patents that'll make CalcoHarwood the biggest of the supermajors."

Chris looks at Pamela, "It was your father that lost control of Wentworth Tool and Die when he was arranging to tie everything together."

"Admittedly my father wasn't very good at business, but at least he managed to hold onto most everything while his sisters went god knows where."

"Most isn't enough. Baker Douglas bought Wentworth Tool and Die and several other businesses along the way. Ewing Oil now has a controlling interest in Baker Douglas and we all want it," Chris says.

"I know what we want. I can handle the finance, but you need to get them to trust you."

"I'll get there. I've already got Jessica Lee inside. She's having diner with the family as we speak."

"Good. When we're done we'll have back the last piece of our grandmother's estate that our parents lost, along with Ewing Oil and their precious South Fork."

John Ross meets late at night out by the barn with a man who says, "They're not getting back Wentworth Tool and Die. If we have to, we'll get rid of them the same way we did Rebecca Wentworth."

After this first episode JR would be gone a lot (due to Larry's health), but his interference would be felt and he'd show up when ever Larry was up to it. Bobby would play the good guy patriarch of the family, Sue Ellen the southern bell with all the old stories.

The story would revolve around John Ross and Pamela fighting each other while being in love. John Ross plays the good guy and Pamela and Chris will stop at nothing to make sure he fails, both with their own reasons to hate him, thus round two of the Barnes-Ewing feud.

Margret and Lucas Karen's will make appearances.

Amy, Jared, Jessica, Bo and Ross all get major story lines, the socialite, the playboy, the playgirl, the cowboy/rigger and the cute kid. For diversity shake Amy is 1/2 Hispanic/Arab based on the Slim family from Mexico, Jared is 1/2 Chinese based on the Li family of Hong Kong and Canada , and Jessica 1/2 Native American and Black based on the Simmons family of Oklahoma.

The story revolves around the Ewing family, South Fork (not remodeled) and Ewing Oil. The things around them have changed but they haven't. John Ross is more like Jock than JR. Chris is more like Greg Sumner of Knots Landing and Pamela a young Angela Channing of Falcon Crest. And so the story goes . . .

Wait a minute. We'll get rid of them the same way we did Rebecca Wentworth!? Does that mean they killed her and took the last person Katherine loved and considered her own family!? If that is true, then these monsters deserve NOTHING, in my opinion! Actually, they don't deserve Wentworth Tool and Dye, anyway! And neither do the Barnes! That company should have been Katherine's from the start!

3 things bug me about Dallas:

1) it just got silly as the family feel apart until we get to Dallas TNT and it's really not even about the Ewing's anymore. That can be fixed - continue it about the Ewing's and make the family big again.

2) the dream season - best just to ignore that. Ignore it on Dallas and Knots Landing and just move on line it never happened.

3) the way Rebecca died and Katherine just vanished. What if John Ross got digging into something he shouldn't have and found out there was more to it?

Personally I am way considered Pam wrapped up though some people wanted her to end up back with Bobby. You was even ok with JRs mental breakdown at the end. I could handle Vanessa as JR's one true love cause I figured it was a lie. But Rebecca was more than that and do was Katherine. So what is John Ross up to? Is he a good guy or a bad guy? Is he working with people who killed Rebecca Wentworth or against them? Where is Katherine? Does she own 1/3 of what Chris and Pamela now consider there's?

Add to that wuestions like what's JR up to? Where is Lucas? Why has Chris turned away from Bobby? And the story is really all about the Ewing's and the next generations feud with the Barnes.

I can tell that there is more to this than meets the eye. And I know that John Ross can be just as good at finding out secrets as JR. So it will be interesting to see where this goes. I just always feel the need to step in and "defend" Katherine in fanfiction since she is never given anything good in fanfiction. That is just me having some fun. Will you still do the 2018 story?

I do understand defending Katherine. She gets the short end of things in Dallas.

I don't know about Dallas 2018. I started to petered out. But thank you for asking. It's good to know people enjoy my fan fictions enough to check on them. Thank you so much.

I also enjoy reading the Dallas 2018 story. :)

Then as for this story I like that it begins after Miss Ellie's death. But since it does and BBG died already in 2005 maybe it should be moved up a couple of years say until 2006 or 2009?

That way you could have JR in the story more too! :)

I remember it was announced already in 2009 that Dallas was coming back on TNT. So I think JR was originally supposed to have played a bigger part in the new show but due to Larry's failing health and postponing the start of the show until 2012 that didn't happen. :(

Good points. For me even if BBG died earlier I would have stated New Dallas off with her death. She was too big to just ignore her passing. But then I would have jumped into what for me is the big 3 of the next generation:

John Ross - a hands on kinda guy, less book learned, a king of the good ole boys with a vast network of friends who does what has to be done, for whom right and wrong is the only luxury he can't afford to engage in, and when asked to define himself he's a father - in many ways the opposite of JR, except in his ability to do what must be done

Pamela - a business woman with all the right degrees, intelligent and capable with her own set of contacts, gentle and sophisticated, elegant and refind, attempting to hide a ruthless and controlling personality - in many ways the opposite of Cliff except his inability to let go of the past

Bo - a play boy for whom life has come easy, his mother and his brother's favorite, handsome to the point of distraction, a pretty boy the women want to be with and the men want to be like, for whom business is a hobby and life indulgence - just like JR, if he never meant any harm

Anyway to me that's what I would have done.

JR walks out back of South Fork and toward a waiting helicopter. The family watches from the pool as he climbs up inside and lifts off, quickly flying away from the ranch.

Bobby asks, "Why am I apprehensive about his leaving?"

John Ross answers, "Because he's up to something. He asked me to fill in for him on the board of CalcoHarwood."

"What'd you say?"

"No."

Bo speaks up, "I told him I would. I don't know much about it, but I can learn."

Sue Ellen puts her hand on Bo's should. "Just be careful. JR's got something he's putting together. He hadn't been sitting on that boat with out being up to something all these years."

Bobby says he's off to work on some fencing. John Ross tells him that Jack's out in the barn and that he'll be right with him. Sue Ellen heads off to work and meetings all day.

John Ross stops Bo from leaving. "Join me in my study."

Bo agrees.

Inside South Fork in the old family den off the back, John Ross introduces him to Ruby, "He takes care of things for me. Officially he runs BranchWater, a paramilitary business I own. They provide security for oil fields and what not. Unofficially Ruby, Portifino Ruberosia, does what needs being done. This is Sal, Salvador Bernstein. He's my lawyer. He handles that side of things, along with our cousin Margaret in DC. And this is Arnie Leland. He handles the books. You all know my brother. I want you to join us. Sal's drawn up the paperwork. I want Ewing Oil to buy your company in exchange for ten percent. You'll see, it's a very generous offer. My goal is, with options to get you up to bring a fifty fifty partner with me. They can also help you with the board of CalcoHarwood."

"Thank you John Ross."

"Of course. We're brothers." Sitting down John Ross says, "First I want to talk about West Fork. Grandma bought it just to leave it to Uncle Gary but I managed to talk her into leaving it to our cousins instead. Safer that way. So it's his but really there's. She also left the mineral rights to the foundation. We've got to get working on that right away. Uncle Gary will be just as determined to keep drilling off the land but I won him over by the way I got at the oil under Lotus Point. I'll need you to take care of that with Sal." John Ross grabs Bo's shoulder.

Ruby says, "I've got some people out there we can talk to."

"Grandma gave the ranch, or at least the cattle business, to Uncle Bobby, years ago. And she left one box to my father. Hi don't know what's in it. She left all the grandchildren money, including James and Uncle Ray's kids and Grandpa Clayton's grandkids. She didn't know about Molly. Long story. I'll explain another time. So you'll be getting a check soon. She left her personal effects to Lucy and Betsy. And of course she left the house to me.

"Really?"

"She tried to make sure everything was fair, equal right down the line. She didn't want no fighting after she was gone. Everything's in order. And just because she left me the house, don't think that means you need to be in any hurry to leave South Fork. You stay on as long as you like. You and my momma seem to get along pretty good."

"I think so."

"Well there you have it. Now your task is to get at that West Fork oil."

"OK. I can do that."

"I know ya can."

Out in the far back of South Fork Bobby and Jack work on a fence when Jack asks, "Uncle Bobby, why didn't you ever have any kids?"

Taken a bit by surprise Bobby takes a second before responding. "I do have a son."

"You do? I've never seen him."

"We had a fight some time ago and we don't talk much anymore."

"I'm sorry Uncle Bobby."

"Thank you. It's been very difficult. I miss him a lot."

"I know I'd miss my dad. I'm going to stay right here and raise my family at South Fork just like my dad."

"That would be nice."

"I'm gonna name him John Ross Ewing the fifth."

"I'm sure your daddy will love that. What about your wife?"

"My wife?"

"Don't you want to be married to a pretty girl?"

"Not really. I've got grandpa. She'll help with my son."

"But wouldn't it be nice to be married and raise your children with someone? Like Uncle Ray and Uncle Gary. And Lucy. She's married to Mitch and they raise their kids together."

"I suppose so. It is kinda nice. Uncle Ray and his boys all seem to get along. Nice they live near by."

"Yes the old Wade Ranch. He bought that for your Aunt Jenna. It had been in her family for generations just like South Fork's been in our family."

"So you had one son just like my daddy. And no wife. Just the two of you. Like we are."

"I suppose so."

"You do know your momma loves you, don't you."

"She's OK. She's just real busy. My daddy tells me all the time that she loves me. But I kinda wish she was around more."

"I know ya do son. I know ya do."

Sue Ellen oversees the set up for the Oil Baron's Ball with Amy Anderson. They gossip about Jessica Lee not being the sort of girl Bo should be hanging around. They're both in agreement.

In his office Chris tells Jared he just got word that John Ross turned over ten percent of Ewing Oil to Chris. They agree that's not as much as they assumed. Chris is working on finding out if JR turned over his power of attorney to Bo as well.

Bo watches the Cowboys from CalcoHarwood's private box. Bo says, "Thanks for inviting me Chris."

"Of course. My pleasure."

John Ross welcomes Katherine Wentworth as she steps down out of a private jet. He hands her some papers. "The name Wentworth Industries and your check."

She hands him some papers. "My share of Barnes Holdings."

"So you know, this will go to my son. And that should take care of you nicely. Ruby's been looking out for you?"

"Yes. I ah, I feel safe."

"And Aunt Pam?"

"I'm not sure if she knows much of anything. They've had her so drugged, but your friend's seem to be looking out for her as well."

John Ross states, "Chris had her declared dead." Katherine hands him another paper. He hands her another check. "This will take care of Aunt Pam."

"I can't help but wonder why JR Ewing's son would bother helping me and Pam. Other than you get control of everything my father worked for."

"I'm not interested in Barnes Holdings, not even its large investment in CalcoHarwood. I promised my grandmother I'd be good to Chris. So, this is for him. And, your shares are for someone else."

"Did you ever find Cliff?" Katherine asks.

"Not yet."

"These people . . ."

"They look to control international commodities markets and nothing is more important to them than oil. Your father thought he could handle them. So did your mother."

"What makes you think you can?"

"I'm not certain of anything, other than if you want to control a snake you'd better know which end you're grabbing."

"How's your Uncle Bobby?"

"He's fine. Works the ranch mostly."

"Things were better then."

"When? Before you went into hiding for trying to kill him?"

"Just back then, before I knew about these people and what they're willing to do."

"I see. Well you'd better get going."

"I suppose I should. I'm not sure if I should of thank you or not."

"Don't bother. I'm not interested in being thanked."

Katherine turns and walks back up the stairs.

Once she reaches the top John Ross says, "Don't think you've got any secrets lefts Miss. Wentworth."

She turns around looking at him with concern.

Bobby opens the mail while sitting out by pool of South Fork. One particular letter brings horror to his face. He mumbles, "Pam," and takes off.

Standing in her office Pamela looks down at the television screen, watching her aunt Rebecca leave the Texas State House a make her way through a crowd of reporters to a waiting limousine. A news reporter says, "Rebecca Wentworth arrived in Dallas today after receiving a full pardon from the governor for attempting to kill Bobby Ewing, nearly thirty years ago. She's been in Switzerland receiving treatment for a mental breakdown she suffered after the tragic death of her mother, Rebecca Wentworth. Miss Wentworth has returned as the U.S. Congress has opened up an investigation into the possible murder of her mother. Evidence has surfaced that a syndicate of global business leaders attempting to control the price of oil may have had Rebecca Wentworth killed in order to get ahold of a drill bit patent held by Wentworth Tool and Die. Former Senator Thaddeus Baxter, an old friend of Bobby Ewing's, has been linked to the investigation."

Pamela sits down in bewilderment.

A black Porsche races down the long South Fork driveway stretching to a halt behind a garage. Bo walks up from the pool, wet and rapping himself in a towel with Jessica in a bikini next to him. John Ross walks out of the back of the house.

Chris approaches them, "Where the hell is my father!"

Bo yells back, "Don't come racing up here yelling at us."

John Ross approaches Chris, squared off, ready for a fight. "He got a letter from your mother!"

"My mother's dead!"

"No she isn't. I had some people find her!"

"What gives you the right to but into my family business."

"Grandma asked me. To settle things with for father. Of course you know this means she gets back her share of Barnes Holdings!"

"Which is what this is all about isn't i?"

"No. I don't want anything to do with your family's business." John Ross hands him a paper. Grandma set up a trust for me to use to buy her share. She's probably not in any state of mind that the purchase would hold up in court, but I doubt she'll take you to court over it. So, it's a gift from grandma to you and a hell of a lot more than she left anyone else. Not to mention your mother being a live."

"What the hell do I care about that for? You know how many years she's been out of my life?"

"Don't you want to know why?"

"No. Honestly, no. I don't want to know a damn thing about her."

"Your father's gone to be with her. I can get you the address."

"I don't want it." He snatches the papers from his cousin's hand. "Just stay out of my life." Chris gets back in the car and drives off, racing back down the driveway.

Bo and Jessica watch John Ross walk back into the house.

In the living room the Ewing's gather for cocktails. Sue Ellen tells all about the upcoming Oil Barons Ball. The door bell brings and Helena shows Amy into the room. Sue Ellen says to John Ross something about having her over a lot for dinner and how happy JR would be. She also comments about Jessica being over often and how JR wasn't very found of Jordan Lee. The girls talk dressed for the ball. Amy mentions needing to get John Ross to come up north with her for the social season of charity balls. Bo and Jack play checkers.

From the back of the house Ruby walks in with a beautiful young woman, somewhere between John Ross and Bo's age. John Ross states that everyone knows Ruby and then says, "And this is Rebecca. Katherine Wentworth's daughter with my father."

Sue Ellen chokes.

"Katherine Wentworth agreed to marry my father so that Rebecca was born a legitimate Ewing. They quickly divorced right after. She's grown up in Switzerland with her mother and is a Vice President for Swiss Standard Commerce Bank." He then goes about introduce her to his family.

On the way into the dinning room he stops his sister, holding her back. He hands her some papers and says, "Grandma left you a trust fund which I used to buy your mother's shares in Barnes Holdings. It's yours. I'm hoping you'll stick around."

"Of course. I've never had a family."

"Well now you do."

The Ewing's gather around the table, John Ross in Jock's seat, Sue Ellen in Miss Ellie's chair and Jack next to her in JR's. Ruby joins them across from Rebecca.

The next morning in his study John Ross hands Sal a note. "This came from my father. He's in Manama. I want you to check with the State Department and the CIA. Find out what's up. Arnie you've taken care of my grandmother's estate?"

"All but the pieces you oversaw, your cousin and sisters trust funds. I assume you already meet with them."

"All taken care of."

"That's a hell of a lot of money you gave them to add to her money so you could buy out your aunt and Katherine Wentworth. That's everything your grandmother left you and then some."

"I told her I'd take care of them. And now I have. Don't worry. I held onto control of the voting rights in the trust, in case I ever need 'em. Bo, you and Ruby headed out to California today?"

"Right after we're done here."

"Good. Remember what I said, Uncle Gary will spook easily over you drilling for oil. Handle him with kid gloves."

"Will do."

Pamela sits at her desk when her secretary opens the door and says, "Ms. Barnes, Miss Ewing."

Pamela gets up and welcomes her into the room. "So, you're going by Ewing."

"That's right." She hands Pamela a paper and says, "I'm informing you that Katherine Wentworth's share of this company is mine and I expect a board seat."

"Do you? Sit down Miss Ewing."

The two sit down on sofas facing each other. Yes I do. I'll be in Dallas for sometime. I work for SSC, Swiss Standard Commerce Bank. They own the Cattleman's Bank, which I've been made President."

"I see. And living at South Fork?"

"For now. I can send you a resume if you like. I graduated from LaRosey and the Sorbonne majoring in art history and western lit and I have my Ph.D. In economics from the LSE."

"I see. I assume you'll want to become familiar with the investments of Barnes Holdings?"

"When our Grandmother died her will clearly divided this small investment company three ways, but it was Wentworth Holdings then. I'm not a Barnes after all and Barnes money didn't create this company."

"What do you suggest?"

"Changing the name back."

"My father took a handful of investments and created Barnes Holdings from them."

"Cliff Barnes was a failure at everything he did, which was a good thing he inherited a share of my grandfather's money or he's of ended up an old drunk in a gutter somewhere."

"He made a nice profit selling Barnes Wentworth to West Star."

"Bully for him. Though it's not difficult to do when the company was left to you. And what happened to Wentworth Industries? He managed to loose that."

"That had more to do with the disappearance of your mother and our Aunt Pam."

"I didn't come here to argue. The fact is your father and his sister took advantage of my grandmother. And if I could find a way to break that will I would. As is, I'll settle for sharing this company with the two of you. For now." Rebecca stands. "But it was nice to finally meet you. Cousin."

Pamela continues to sit, "I'll reserve my judgement until another time."

In California Bo explains to a skeptical Gary how they can slant drill in West Fork and how fracking won't harm the ground water.

The Cattleman's Bank sign is removed from a Dallas high rise and replaced with SSC.

In his office Chris greets Rebecca. "Nice view," she says.

"Thank you. So Pamela tells me you're joining us at Barnes Holdings."

"That's right." Rebecca looks over the room as if she's appraising it. "I hear you live next door to South Fork, on a piece I land which use to belong to South Fork."

"That's right. I built my own place there. Pamela lives with me. Moved in after she separated from John Ross. You're more than welcome to move in."

"No thank you. Though I do hear it's pretty impressive. You convinced Miss Ellie to back your position here? And with Barnes Holdings shares you managed to oust my father."

"That's right."

"Miss Ellie's shares are now held my a foundation."

"Overseen by my father and his brother."

"And Sue Ellen. Don't forget Sue Ellen."

"Your father's the second largest shareholder, just behind the foundation, but that didn't help him, even when my father side with him against me."

"Yes but now your father controls those votes that were Miss Ellie's."

"I'm not worried. The institutional investors couldn't be happier with my performance."

"They won't be if you loose any of those law suites regarding environmental degradation."

"They're in foreign courts. I'm not to worried."

"Your father certainly didn't approve."

"We've butted heads in several occasions."

"So I hear."

Rebecca pats Chris on the chest. "You make yourself very vulnerable sticking your neck out like that. Don't underestimate my father. He's not retired to some rocking chair." Her grin reveals great pleasure with the state of things. "John Ross owns a company which cleans up spills like what you've got."

"So I'm told. We're not in competition with each other. He's in the old field services business. CalcoHarwood's in exploration, shipping, refining and marketing of oil and natural gas, as well as PetroChemicals."

"I'm well aware of what a supermajor does, this company in particular. I've researched it as SSC has increased its investment."

"Is that so?"

"I consider myself in the information business. I leave the management up to others."

In California Bo has fun in bed with two girls and the sound of the ocean just outside the wide open glass doors.

Pamela rides horses with Jack who shows her the new fence he out in with Bobby and then offers to take her to a new water trough he put in with his dad just the other day. She says, "You really like all this ranch work?"

"It's OK. It's gotta get done."

"But by other people. Next door Chris doesn't do the work himself."

"He's got a much smaller place. You know how big South Fork is momma?"

"South Fork's half the size."

"Not the house, the cattle operation. There five separate pieces to the ranch. It takes everybody pitching in to keep things running."

"Still, you can hire the work out."

"No I don't think so."

On a private plane back to Dallas Bo says to Ruby, "That was easier than I though. Uncle Gary was a little skeptical but he came around quick enough."

"John Ross will be impressed how you handled him."

"I don't get it though. It's not like he needed Uncle Gary to agree. You be mineral rights belong to the foundation. As long as the foundation approves there's no way Gary could have got in the way."

"There's always a way. Besides that's not how your brother does business."

"From what little I know of my father, it's how JR Ewing does business."

"You'll find your brother learned a great deal from your father about business and from Clayton Farlow."

"I only meet Clayton a few times. He was good at business."

"Yes he was. Besides people like Gary have trouble with people like John Ross. They don't trust them, people with that much money."

"What do you mean?"

"Well Gary's well off. You're well off. Pamela, Christopher. Even JR. They've all got a great deal of money, but John Ross is in a different league. He meet a friend in college before he dropped out, a chemistry major. He helped your brother with chemicals for fracking when he went wildcatting up in the Dakotas on a hell of a lot of borrowed money from a lot of friends and the parents of friends. The Oil came in and the two formed BASP Chemical and when they took the company public John Ross made his first billion. Then he went into business with another friend in college when he needed specific software to manage oil fields and came up with Penn Systems. Took that public and made a few billion more."

"I see."

"Your brothers worth in excess of twenty-five billion dollars and growing. He's made friends with Carlos Haddad, the richest man in the world, when Bill Gates isn't occupying the top spot. That's who introduced him to Arnie."

"How'd the two of you meet?"

"Same place as Sal. College. Penn. John Ross dropped out though. Went looking for oil. I joined the Navy."

"He said you were part of Seal Team Six."

"I've done a few things. Do yourself a favor Bo. Don't underestimate your brother. He may struggle with school, reading and mixing up numbers on a page, what he's capable of understanding people, in a way that's made him enough money to intimidate people like your Uncle Gary."

"Yet he works out of his house."

Ruby smiles. "Yes he does."

In his study John Ross says, "What do you mean you've got a deal for me with Manama. I don't need you to make me deals. Talk to Bo anyway. He's running Ewing Oil now . . . Listen dad, it's my company. If I want Bo to run it, Bo's gonna run it . . . Where are you headed now . . . What are you up to . . . Dad. Dad? Dad!"

Whoa! Blow me away! That was intriguing. John Ross and Katherine, and Rebecca are so badass! And I burst out laughing about JR and Katherine's five minute marriage! I wonder if Pam will get to come back?

Thank you. Yes John Ross and Rebecca are meant to be bad ass. Pamela is their worthy opponent, though John Ross loves her and Bo is the cheese cake. John Ross is the do good sort, Rebecca not so much. Then the rest of the world just keeps interfering. And yes I'd probably have an appearance with Pam and Bobby.

Pamela comes walking up from the pool where John Ross and Jack are versing Bo and Jessica at volleyball. Sue Ellen gets up and welcomes her as Jack noticed, quick to jump out of the water and run to hug his mother leaving her soaking wet.

Rebecca steps up from where she'd been sitting with Sue Ellen. "What brings you to South Fork?"

"Visiting my son."

"From what I hear that doesn't happen often."

Sue Ellen goes to intervene with questions about the up coming Oil Barron's Ball and then a car pulls up. They watch Amy get out and walk towards them.

Rebecca says, "Oh look Jack Amy's here. The two of you should work on that painting you started.

Not leaving his mother's side he says a very brisk hello.

Amy replies, "Hello Jack. How are you?"

"I'm fine."

John Ross approaches and says, "Pamela, this is Amy Anderson. Amy, my x-wife, Pamela Barns."

They greet each other and while Amy is cordial Pamela does appear to be happy to meet her.

Pamela says, "Actually John Ross I would like to talk to you. Alone." John Ross agrees and the two walk to the other side of the pool where she says, "I got a note that my father sold his shares in Barnes Holdings today to The Lucerne Group. That wouldn't be you would it?"

"I don't even know where your father is."

"If you're gonna my after my company . . ."

"I have no interest in Barnes Holdings. None. Maybe my father? What this mean for you?"

"You know full well what it means."

"So you didn't come over to be with your son? This is a business call."

"I have worked all my life for this company. I'm not gonna let someone take it from me."

Rebecca approaches. "No one took anything. Your father sold it."

"To you!"

"Yes to me. I made him a generous offer and he didn't feel he could refuse."

"You bitch."

"I've made Chris a fair offer as well."

"What!"

"I was very clear with you. The Barneses have no right to my grandfather's business."

"You bitch!"

"Me? Your family is rich because of my grandfather and I'm the bitch? I paid them a fair price what should just be mine. So be glad you've got anything."

John Ross says, "There's no way Chris would sell his shares in Barnes Global and risk controlling CalcoHarwood."

Pamela yells, "What the hell did you do to force him to sell?"

"I'm not discussing my business with you. And I'd suggest you watch your tone, unless you're resigning."

Jack, having pulled free from his grandmother stands in front of his mother facing His aunt and says, "Don't yell at my mother!"

"I'm sorry Jack. I didn't mean to up set you."

John Ross says to Rebecca, "Just go in the house. I'll handle this."

"Oh I'm sure you had a hand in this already!" Pamela declares. "I'm sure you planned this whole thing!"

"Planned it. I did just what my grandmother asked. I took care of Chris and Rebecca by using money she left in a trust for them to buy out their mothers. I even had to put in some of my own money. Chris's shares are in a trust. He couldn't sell them if he wanted. So I don't know what agreement went down between you and Chris but those shares aren't being sold."

"What? You control Chris's shares?" Rebecca asks.

"And yours. So how ever you got to Cliff Barnes doesn't change things."

Pamela says, "Of course it does. I end up owning nothing when all's said and done."

Rebecca says, "I want the name changed back to Wentworth Holdings."

"Hell no!" Pamela yells, "I've worked my whole life to create this company."

"Well now you can work less and be around for your son."

"Keep my son out of it!" Pamela shoves Rebecca.

Rebecca grabs Pamela's arm and the two go down into the pool.

John Ross jumps in to pull them apart. Jack follow his father. Ruby jumps in from the other way to pull Rebecca away as she yells, "That bitch bit me. She actually bit me!"

"I didn't bite you!"

"Get her off this property! Put her out by the road with the rest of the trash! I can't believe she actually bite me." Ruby helps her into the house.

John Ross with Jack close behind talks Pamela around to the side of the house. "Give me a chance to figure this out."

"Figure it out! You got what you wanted. I've lost everything thanks to your family."

"That's never what I wanted."

"Pamela please listen to me."

"Please listen to daddy."

"This was not my intention. Please let me fix this."

"I should have never trusted you. Everyone said not to trust you."

"That's always been our problem. You never trusted me. You expected me to hurt you at every chance. I can't figure out why you even married me in the first place."

"Same reason you married me, I'm sure, to spite your father."

"I married you because I love you."

"Why?"

"I don't know why, I just do."

"I'm not a child John Ross. You can't charm me like you do every simpleton. How many women before and after me have there been."

"That's before and after. What do you want me to do, lock myself up in South Fork and pine away for you?"

"I don't want anything from you. Except to stay away from my company."

"Like you're staying away from mine. You don't think I know you and Chris plan on go my after Bo to get your hands on a piece of Ewing Oil."

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't give me that southern simple of yours. You know what I'm talking about. I make it my business to know what goes on in this town. Everything. I know how bad Chris wants Ewing Oil. I know how made he was when Uncle Bobby sold me his share and not CalcoHarwood. I also know that you want back every piece of Rebecca Wentworth's estate that your bumbling father lost. And I have a piece. Those aren't trade secrets."

"Then make it easy and just sell me Wentworth Tool and Die."

"Sure. But, the pattens your looking for aren't there."

"What do you mean? Wentworth Tool and Die doesn't own those pattens anymore?"

"They expired a long time ago."

"But the technology."

"Yes I still have that. I can have any facility manufacture what I need. If you need Wentworth Tool and Die do bad you can have it. But it's secrets stay secret."

"Well of course. Why would I want everyone else to have my advantages?"

"It's more than self interest, it's self preservation. You take on Wentworth Tool and Die, and you'll find out the world is a lot less safe than you'd bargained for. I give it to you, you have to accept BranchWater security."

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"I'll explain later. Go home. Get dried off. Let me speak to Rebecca."

"I'm warning you John Ross."

"Ya, ya, ya, I know. Just go on. I'll be over."

In the back room of South Fork John Ross walks in and yells at Rebecca who's dried off and in a bath robe coming through with Ruby, "What the hell have you done!"

"Taken back what's mine! And if you hadn't turned over Pamela's shares to that mutt you call a cousin, I'd have all it."

"All of what? That company is nothing of what your grandmother left behind except some money in CalcoHarwood stock, a company that never even existed when she was a live. Everything it is Pamela created."

"From Herbert Wentworth's legacy."

"How much do you want for Cliff's share? I'll buy it for Jack."

"I want the name."

"Wentworth Tool and Die?"

"Yes."

"Done."

John Ross drives up to a mansion far larger and ornate than South Fork. He walks up to the door and rings the bell.

John Ross is shown into the living room of this mansion by a butler to find Pamela. He says, "Rebecca has agreed to sell me your father's share of Barnes Holdings. I've put it in trust for our son and put that trust in your control." He hands her the papers.

"Until you exercise your option to over ride me."

"Not at all."

She takes the papers and says, "Why?"

"Because I wanted to. I did sign over the names Wentworth Industries and Wentworth Tool and Die to Rebecca. I can't imagine they have that much value to you. As for it being part of your grandmother's estate that you feel you need to collect, if you think sending Jessica in to figure a way to manipulate Bo is gonna work, you don't know Bo."

"I want the drilling technology."

"No."

"Then we've still got a problem."

"So be it." John Ross walks out of the house leaving the door wide open.

Intriguing story so far. :)

I wonder what JR's up to?
I hope he'll be back soon as I just love him and it would be nice to see him interact with his kids. :)

Oh and a Bobby & Pam appearance would be good too. I can't believe how cold Chris is. What a jerk! :(

I'm confused about Jack though, who is he?

I don't get who Ruby is either...

Also how many kids does Ray and Jenna have?
They referred to Ray and his sons so I am guessing they must have at least one.

I'm glad Lucy and Mitch are married with kids in this story even if we haven't seen them yet. Will they put in an appearance on some BBQ or something?

I like the set up with Pamela Rebecca and John Ross' power struggle and clash in business even though they love each other still. I'll look forward to read more scenes full of fireworks between them! ;)

Thank you.

JR is about to make an appearance to make things right. I always wanted JR to make peace in life and I though that is what a new Dallas was going to do but never did.

Chris I always figure would have a lot of issues, abandonment and such and with Bobby sheltering him it would be Bobby who got hurt the most. Hard to be the guy everyone feels sorry for so he comes out swinging. He's more of a Barnes in my version, kinda sad.

Jack is John Ross and Pamela's 10 year old son. They were married and she lived at South Fork 10 years ago. As my story goes when Missy Ellie gave Bobby the "ranch" she only gave him the business not everything else. So she left John Ross the house and left the land to her foundation. So South Fork the house belongs to john Ross and he lives there with his mom who helps with Jack (and now his single brother and sister too). Pamela just lives next door on the old mckay property with Chris.

Ruby is one of John Ross's 3 friends / business associates that he meets with every morning. Ruby is sort of a Bum character young and polished.

I'm not sure about Ray but in my version he and Jenna are happily married with a family of their own and even Charlie looking up to Ray as a father figure, might even call him dad.

Always possible to see people show up. It was what I'd hoped for in New Dallas - a focus on JRs family and to a lesser extend Chris as part of a new generation Barnes feud, but still a chance to see everyone else from time to time.

It's funny I never watched Dynasty before but I did recently and this idea seems very much like Blake and Alexis as it turns out. Idk but it's fun to right.

Pamela was a real brat here. Although I don't think that Rebecca was very well-mannered about it either, I don't see how Pamela thinks she ever had any right to anything with the name Wentworth name on it.

Good points. I always say Pamela as a spoiled brat, a modern Scarlet OHara.
