Dallas as it should have been IMHO

Yes I know it's a stretch with her ever forgiving him and maybe I shouldn't go there but I wanted them back together at SouthFork and traveling on his yacht - when not well enough to film. I even thought that JR could be ill and she agrees to take care of him as he fights cancer but I thought the actor might object as that was too close to reality. Would have been powerful as JR returns home to battle cancer, marries a grief stricken Sue Ellen, makes his children confront their relationship with him and then as it turns out he real does die.

Katherine was bigamy for JR with her blackmailing him to destroy his marriage to Sue Ellen and reveal his affair with her to his family and their child. Katherine wanted control of JR so JR wouldn't go after her and bigamy worked (I probably would have left them married even when he married Cally and maybe even up to his death). Katherine also wanted her daughter to inherite Ewing money along with John Ross - she wanted her daughter to be the surprise that Cliff and Pam were. She forced out of JR child support and alimony as she was on the run and Cliff controlled her funds in America, along with taking control of Pam's money. She tolerated JRs visits seeing as he was a good father but she made sure he knew she could expose him to Sue Ellen and Bobby at any moment.

JR was based on HL Hunt and so I figured bigamy was in order. 3 wives, 3 legitimate Ewing's. Who knows how many illegitimate children, at least 1 we know about.
Dang! That is absolutely diabolical! I never would have thought of that! Katherine knew how to play just as dirty as JR did! Well done!

JR meets with Katherine in Switzerland. He hands her papers and says that he needs her to sign them. Katherine laughs, "And why would I do that? Just marry her like you married Cally."

"Look it, this is all done with. You got what you wanted. Rebecca's in my will, full third along with John Ross and Bo. No more Katherine. I married you when you could blackmail me with that girl. You can't anymore. I'll get my divorce one way or another. Not like our marriage counted as I was already married to Sue Ellen at the time."

Katherine signs and then looks up at JR. "Surprisingly you were a very good father."

"Thank you."

"Why the regency to marry Sue Ellen?"

"I'm dying and I want to make things right with her."

"What?"

"I want my children with me and Sue Ellen too. I want to fix the mess I'm leaving behind. I'm arranging to buy the ranch from Bobby and CalcoHarwood will merge with Trident and I'm leaving it to the three of them. Rebecca's negotiating merging Wentworth Industries into Ewing Oil and sharing the company with her brothers. They're a family. And I want to be part of that before I die."

"Rebecca's getting rid of the Wentworth name?"

"I don't know the particulars, but they're Ewing's. Wait to you see what I've got I store for CalcoHarwood and Trident. It'll be my greatest deal yet."

Katherine hands JR the papers. "Good luck JR."

JR smiles taking them from her and says, "Why darlin' I think you really mean that."
Loved this one. So sad that JR is dying, but I like how he is trying to set things right and is not leaving everyone in the dark about his death like he did on the show. The older characters seem to have "grown up" in this. Even Katherine.

That's the idea - I think it would get people to watch while the new characters do their own thing.

Speaking of the new characters, is Bo evil? I feel like he is getting all of those hilarious sex parts that Christopher used to get in the other story. It is as funny as heck!

No.

Bo is the frat boy.

John Ross is the good ole boy.

Rebecca is the eccentric diva.

Pamela is the spoiled brat.

and

Chris is the evil schemer (yet to come)

Chris walks into a high rise apartment early one evening and says to Amy Anderson, "Since you've got no where with my cousin, it's time to move on. I want you to help me with Robert Cook, he's the Chairman and CEO of Trident."

"What is it you want me to do?"

"He's got a relatively open marriage. I want you to complicate it."

"I do this and our arrangement is settled."

"Fair enough. I'm not a fool. I realize how far I can push things, given each situation. Sooner or later you'll push back. So let's do this and be done with our arrangement."

"Fine. Then I don't ever intend to see you again."

Christopher pushes her dress off her shoulders, causing it to fall to the floor. She caresses her naked shoulders and admires her nude body. "You've always enjoyed seeing me. That doesn't end because our little business arrangement is coming to an end."

"I hate you."

"With a smirk and fondling her breasts he says, "That makes this all the more fun."

Chris walks into another high rise apartment later that night and says, "I've got another assignment for you as you've gotten no where with my cousin." He walks around to face a sofa where Jared Wendell sits. "I want you to help me disturb Robert Cook's marriage."

"Alright."

"There's a thrill in watching you agree so easily."

"Agree? I'm not aware of a choice."

"This is true. Times like these I always remember we were younger and you'd bully me. My dad's advise never helped all through high school. But in college my Uncle JR gave me some sound advise. He said, 'Let the bully keep it up. Let him think you're weak. And while he does keep your eye out for his weakness. His weakness is what makes him a bully. His weakness is what will let you own the man. I certainly do own you. Lock stock and barrel."

Jared looks up at him with hatred.

"What does it matter what I require you to do? Your temper has proven you're capable of doing anything I ask. Even murder. You even seemed to enjoy it."

"You're sick."

"No. Not in the least. But I do enjoy the one thing you object most to. It reminds me how completely do own you." Chris undoes his pants and drops them in front of Jared exposing his bare ass. Reaching out and pulling the man face first into his crotch.

In the early morning hours Jared sits with papers spread out before him, sitting with a young Asian man. "So if JR backs this merger it goes through because all these people will push it through."

"Yes. They're roughly the same people that agreeded to his West Star CalcoHarwood merger."

"And there's no in as it stands. And he's the top guy?"

"Assistant Attorney General in the Antitrust Division, yes."

"I've appreciate all your hard work."

"I've appreciated your getting my family out of North Korea."

"Well you're a brave man, getting yourself out and into China. That bravery deserves rewarding."

"How much Mr. Shepard to eliminate this man?" The man points at the paper on the Assistant Attorney General."

"Well that my friend would pay very well. But it's only half the issue. I need to make sure his replacement is someone favorable. You have anyone in mind?"

"Of course I do. An old law school busy of mine."

"Excellent. You make this happen and I'm thinking not just payment; I'm thinking board position for n CalcoHarwood, professor."

Out in the back balcony of South Fork John Ross watches Pamela walk from the cottage to a waiting limousine. He drinks his coffee and watches the limousine drive away.

Bo rolls around in his bed with two beautiful young girls. He gets up and one slaps his ass, "Darlin' I've got to get ready for work. The company doesn't run itself. And I sure at leaving' the two of you here alone. So you better get up and get movi'."

Rebecca watches as a very large abstract expressionist painting is hung by two workmen in the South Fork living room. JR enters and says, "What's that mess sweetheart?"

"It's a de Kooning daddy. Mother bought it decades ago for my nursery."

"She sent over several paintings. There's a Warhol of her but I figured you would appreciate it. I'm loaning it to the Dallas Museum of Art."

"Probably best. So is that thing worth anything?"

She laughs. "I've been offered over two hundred million."

"And you didn't sell it?"

"Daddy rich people don't sell their stuff." The two men pick up another painting and hold it above the fire place. She smirks at her father and says, "Cézanne."

Sue Ellen walks into the room, "Wow. You're turning this room into an art gallery. Have you considered copying the originals and donating them to a museum?"

JR adds, "Rich people don't sell there stuff, but they do give it away."

Yep Chris has shown his true colors now. Evil schemer.
Interesting advice he got from JR about the people who bullied him...

Thank you. I always saw Chris as turning out twice as evil as JR. JR always did have interesting advise. He's lucky that John Ross will care about him and defend him no matter what he does. He could go to prision and John Ross would be there to visit him once a week like it or not. Pamela on the other hand would probably pay someone to make sure he doesn't escape. While Bo would be too busy living it up. And Rebecca would say, "Grandma should have got her tubes tied after having my daddy."

The board of CalcoHarwood meets. Rebecca is the last to enter the room and sit at the far end next to Chris's Korean friend. She slides her phone over to him. He looks at it.

Chris takes count of those in favor of the merger. Rebecca raises her hand splitting the vote seven and seven. Then Chris's Korean friend raise his hand in favor. Chris looks surprised but counts it.

Rebecca says, "That's done. Make the announcement we accepted the offer." She stands, "Oh by the way, Trident's class B shares, while we're here the company announced they're owned by JR Ewing. He's placing them in trust for me and my brothers. When this merger is complete each trust will hold five percent of the company and fifteen percent of the vote. I hope you all have a good day. I know I will."

A news broadcaster states, "Oil tycoon JR Ewing announced today that he is getting rid of everything he owns, retiring and moving in with his son at the family's South Fork Ranch, stating 'It's time to let the next generation take over. I have three great kids, and I intend to step back and let them have at it. They don't need the old man interfering.'

JR Ewing's shares in the Trident Corporation, which has begun the process of merging with CalcoHarwood, his last big business deal, will be divided up into trusts with his three children as the benefactors. When combined his shares are expected to be worth over fifty billion dollars, or fifteen percent of the total with a special class of stock holding forty-five percent of the vote.

JR Ewing has put his four hundred foot yacht, the SES 67, up for sale. The bidding for which will take place next month. JRE Enterprises, his private investment company, has begun the process of selling off assets.

Some have called this the end of an era."

JR walks into the dinning room at six sharp saying, "I'm right on time."

John Ross, sitting in Jock's chair says, "I was begging to wonder."

"You don't have to worry about ole JR mission' a meal." With Ruby sitting on John Ross's right he grabs his shoulder and says, "Looks like we've got a guest. I ain't got to be worried about you being sweet on my girl do I?" Rebecca next to Ruby, JR leans over and kisses her cheek. "Looking lovely darlin'." With Bo next he pats his younger son in the shoulder. "Heard about you takin' on some business up in the Artic for Trident. You'll have to fill me in after dinner son."

JR walks around his momma's empty chair and sits where he always sits with Sue Ellen next to him and Jack next to his grandmother, on his father's left. JR kisses Sue Ellen's cheek and says, "Evenin' darlin'. Then leaning forward and looking over at his grandson he says, "so Jack, I was think' we'd go fishin' tomorrow. What'd ya think?"

Before he can answer Pamela shows up in the archway and says, "I hope I'm not late. Traffic was awful."

John Ross stand with a cheesy grin on his face, "No not at all. Please. Helen hasn't even step out of the kitchen yet." He motions for her to sit in Miss Ellie's chair. She does.

JR says, "Welcome darlin'. That's a mighty important chair to fill, but I do think you're capable."

Helen begins bringing out the meal and the family begins to chatter over the din of silver in china.

JR and John Ross and Jack stand in a river fly fishing. JR says to his grandson, "Mark my words, they'll remember your grandpa for centuries and centuries."

Jack looks proud of the idea.

John Ross gives his son a knowing look.

JR says, "Did I ever tell ya about my daddy? The first John Ross Ewing. They called him Jack. Your son'll be the fifth. And you'll bring him out here too. You make sure he's special mind ya. I use to say momma shoulda had her tubes tide after me, but what fun with that have been without all those other Ewing's. You just keep in mind, we," JR gestures to the three of them, "We're not other Ewing's. We are thē Ewing's. The three of us. And your boy one day. I divided up my shares in Trident between my kids, but your daddy's got control of them and their votes." JR winks at his grandson. "Just like your daddy split up Ewing Oil with them but kept the votes. He thinks I don't know about his little tricks. Now Ellie, she ain't gonna have any kids. Your grandpa made sure she was to spoiled to wanta share. And Bo. Well as long as he's careful he'll be good. That means Ewing Oil'll be yours. I spoke to them 'bout estate planning. Gotta prepare for the future."

"Yes grandpa."

"Even if your momma and daddy have more kids. You remember you gotta take care of things. They'll fight you but you remember your place. You're in charge. Say about my daddy, that was a man in charge. A tough man. You didn't mess with Jock Ewing . . ."

That is my idea of how I would have handled 2012. I would have pitted John Ross with Bo and Rebecca against Chris with Pamela against each other over Trident. The background story would have been JR wooing Sue Ellen. Possibly I'd include Bobby and Pam and a few other stories but that's how I'd have set up season 1.

But then in the second season JR would have died and we'd have another story line to deal with that. Maybe with that bring in some outsiders to unite the Ewing's.

The one thing they got right for the most part was JRs funeral, IMO. Add Rebecca and Bo and you're all set:

Then:

Back at the house Sue Ellen sits in the living room. Bobby start to go to her and John Ross stops him. Jack runs into her and holds her. "It's OK grandmie. Grandpa will wait for you." They hold each other and cry.

John Ross walks out of the house. Bobby watches him.

In the enormous and grand living room of his mansion Chris begins to tear the room apart, breaking every thing and taking a pocket knife to the fabric. Without uttering a sound his rage rips apart everything.

Rebecca sits at her dressing table brushing her hair and singing in a hushed whisper, "Hush, little baby, don't say a word, Papa's gonna buy you a mockingbird. And if that mockingbird don't sing, Papa's gonna buy you a diamond ring. And if that diamond ring turns brass, Papa's gonna buy you a looking glass. And if that looking glass is broke . . ." Her voice trails off into tears.

Bo rides his horse as fast has he can around the track, pushing faster, harder, daring the house set to throw him off.

Pamela approaches John Ross as he walks down the long driveway. "Where ya going?"

"I don't know."

"Can I help you John Ross?"

"Doubt it."

Still walking, now a word is exchanged until they reach the road where Pamela says, "I love you . . ." He keeps walking. "Please John Ross. I know this is the time to say it, but I'm scared . . ." Still walking. "Your daddy swore to me you loved me. You swore it to me." Still walking. "Please," she cries. "Please I don't want to be like your momma, regretting all that time I lost. Please John Ross please." Balling her eyes out she stands still. "Don't leave me. You're the only one who ever loved. Please. I'm so sorry I know this is about you. But I'm scared. Please."

He turns around to look at her. "What are you scared of?"

"That no body has ever loved me."

He chuckles bad begins to walk up to her. "I have loved you all your life. Remember when I was in North Dakota wildcatting, and I'd write to you? You'd write back, 'your secret friend.'"

"Well of my dad ever found out we were writing."

"It use to kill me. Or when we'd go to dinner and you'd talk about Chris. How good at business he was. How much he taught you. How handsome he was."

"That bothered you?"

"Of course it did."

"But you never said. I was waiting for you to be jealous. But you never were."

"Never was? All I wanted to do was kick the shit out of him. Did a few times. Our fights were legiondary. And Uncle Bobby always took my side. Which only made Chris resent him even more."

"I'm sorry John Ross. I honestly didn't think you cared. I wanted you too. I hoped you would. And all those girlfriends of yours. I thought . . ."

"I told you they never meant anything to me. Just you. Only you. You never once acted jealous."

"What and show you I was hurt."

"Hurt over what? If you'd told me . . . I wouldn't have given them a thought if you'd given me any hope."

"Please. Please grow old with me. Please."

John Ross picks her up and carries her back down the long drive way.

In the kitchen Bobby makes pancakes and Ray makes sausages and Gary makes fresh squeezed orange juice as Sue Ellen and Jack watch. "It's pretty cool having breakfast for lunch, grandma."

"Yeah I guess it is, Jack.

Gary hands her a doctored up drink, blood orange with a celery stick and says, "That'll help with the hang over."

Sue Ellen smiles and drinks the awful concoction.

Bobby hands them both plates of pancacks. Then Ray sits down a plate of bacon between them.

Rebecca walks in the doorway, "Something smells good. So are you telling me the Ewing men can cook?"

Gary says, "I don't know what happened to the Ewing women. Momma was the best cook. And Val can hold her own. But JR. Well he just married himself a beauty queen with a heart of gold."

"Why thank you Gary," Sue Ellen says.

"What about me?" Rebecca asks while stealing a piece of bacon.

Bobby takes her other hand bad says, "They wrote a warning song about girls like you." He then starts to sing, "If you want to be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife; it's my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you."

Gary sets his phone down playing the Jimmy Soul song, clapping with Jack as Bobby sings with the song and dances with Rebecca.

Bo plays in bed with three gorgeous girls, laughing, giggling and moaning. He says, "Like my daddy always said, where there's a way, there's a will."

(the playful music from the kitchen continues).

John Ross and Pamela make love in her bed in the cottage out back, slow and tender and thoughtful.

Fade to black.

Christopher sits in the mess of his living room. "I'll take Trident Uncle JR. You wait and see. I'll show you. I'll show every last one of them."

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pAgnJDJN4VA

Elevator doors open and Christopher walks through the executive sweet of Trident passed portraits of Jock and JR and Rebecca.

An oil gusher comes in spewing oil all over a Texas field.

The final words on the screen, 'In memory of Larry Hagman," and the AC/DC song plays on.

JR walks down the long driveway of South Fork in his Stetson running 3 minutes over the hour.

Next episode opens up a news broadcast, "JR Ewing, the last of the great oil men, left behind an estate worth seventy-two billion dollars as well as significant contribution to the Ewing Family Foundation. His legacy includes creation of the Trident Corporation, the giant energy company with his daughter, Rebecca Ewing, as Chairman and CEO. His youngest son, Bo, is the president of the privately held Ewing Oil company. His oldest son, John Ross Ewing the third, is the proprietor of the South Fork ranch.

You killed off JR already? No! :mo:
I was looking forward to see more scenes of him and Sue Ellen...

Honestly I didn't like how they killed him off on Dallas TNT or handled the funeral. It was ok but the way they did Jock's episode was much better...

I enjoyed the scene with JR, John Ross and Jack talking about Jock.

I liked Pamela and John Ross reconciliation scene too.

Thank you. I was just using this post to show how I would have done the show if I were in charge back in 2012. If like to think the ratings would have been so high TNT would have kept it or another network picked it up. I'd like to think people would have loved to see JR go out with a bang. I did like the masterpiece idea but they didn't give us a masterpiece. I would have spent the next several years with letters from JR to all of his family showing up when they least expect it like JRs watching them. But those were my ideas. I'm going to return to my Dallas 2018 story.

Of course people would have loved to see JR go out on top. But well since season two of Dallas TNT was planned to end with JR outscheming everyone and getting back on top and Larry died before that plot could be filmed it left the producers of Dallas TNT with a problem.

What I don't get is why they didn't film some scenes of JR/SE or JR dying earlier on as a back up since Larry was sick. But then again I guess they didn't want to ask Larry to do that as they expected him to beat cancer and stick around for longer. But it's really sad he died so soon as Dallas TNT could have been a lot better if he'd been in it longer. :(

I'll look forward to reading more of your Dallas 2018 story. :)

Thank you very much.

The writers should have still put JR on top. All he could have had left behind could have changed everything. A will that left John Ross all he had promised him, including South Fork. A letter to sue Ellen. Wish they had done it and included all the people they left off. Not even James mentioned in the will.

Well anyway. Back to 2018.

While it really doesn't matter to me that there aren't anymore JR and Sue Ellen scenes either way, what I don't understand is why you have to kill JR off at all. I understand that this is about the next generation, but since this is just fanfiction, I don't see why you feel you can't have JR or any other character just because the actor or actress who played them died. Why do have to follow all of the TV rules about what happened?

Love the Christopher stuff! He is awesome when he is angry!

In my opinion, I would have preferred it if they hadn't made TNT Dallas at all since they knew that Larry Hagman most likely only had limited time to live. That way, at least JR the character never would have died.
