Welcome to "This Is Your Life"... Ooops, wrong title! Welcome to this Candlelight thingie! We´re all gonna have fun!

Voilà some questions:

1- Have you ever entangled in a catfight (sort of)? And if so, who won?

2- What do you think that we Spanish men have that others from other nationalities don´t?

3- What would you do if you met Joan Collins in the airport? Would you go all stalker-ish or just take some pics of her in the WC with your cell phone?

4- Who is your favorite non-Soap actress? Why? Is she a person or a ladypig?

5- Have you ever heard a Spanish person say "My country is good for holidays but not for living"?

6- What real-life celebrity would you like to see in the new "Spitting Image" series?

Miss Piggy would like to ask:

What perfume would you recommend to a young beautiful, sexy, smart star as moi (not that I need it!)?

What is your favorite flavor of doughnuts?

1. No.... Like my namesake I like to fight with my tongue.
2. A chance with Alexis.
3. I don't know what I would do. I would probably be star struck. I wouldn't want to bother her or draw attention to her if she was just quietly walking through the airport and I know she doesn't like to be touched, hugged by strangers. It would depend on the situation. I would maybe approach her if there weren't a lot of people around. Just tell her I was a fan and that she once signed a lot of stuff for me. :)
4. I have a lot of favourite actresses. I really like Sarah Paulsen but I hate her doing only Ryan Murphy shows. I also love Nicole Kidman, Julieann Moore and Susan Sarandon. But my list favourite actresses is exhaustive.
5. No I have never heard a Spanish person say that.
6. I haven't watched the new Spitting Image so I am not sure about that. I am sure all the major stars and politicians are in it already?

I think Miss Piggy should wear Hot2Trott by Piggy Couture. I like all doughnuts.

Hi @Alexis

I hope you'll enjoy your week in the spotlight. :)

I have a couple of questions:

1) What are your interests?
2) How many times have you watched Kylie in concert and which one was the best one?
3) How is your cousin doing now?

Finally I can very much recommend you to watch Madonna in concert some day if you get the opportunity to. I saw her on her Rebel Heart tour and it was in a big arena but she did mix in a few of her old hit songs so it wasn't just her new album. If memory serves me she sang "Like a Prayer", "Like A Virgin", "True Blue", "Vogue" and "Isla Bonita". I must say that I also love Madonna's Immaculate Album as well as Kylie's Greatest Hits one. :ribbon:
1. Outside of soaps and TV shows, I enjoy reading, I like a bit of gothic horror. I also enjoy cooking, I really miss cooking for family get togethers now. There's no cooking up a big meal anymore since I don't see anybody. I have also always been artistic and used to paint a lot when I was younger. I started to get into a bit more art and crafting things when lockdown happened.
2. I have seen Kylie 4 times now. I saw the Showgirl tour in Dublin, and then in Belfast I saw, the X tour, the Kiss Me Once tour and most recently the Golden tour. Honestly they have all been amazing. Showgirl was magical though as it encompassed her entire career up until that point. It was a huge spectacle and she managed to work all the various Kylies into one magical show. She was really at the peak of her career there too.
3. My cousin is doing well, she is cancer free but she's still very thin and frail and not back to how she was before. She also had a pre-existing bone condition before she got cancer and the Chemo and treatments were hard on her bones. She doesn't seem to be able to put weight on and she was very petite before she got sick anyway. She's still having follow up treatments to deal with the after effects of chemo and other problems that the treatments and cancer caused, but she's cancer free and doesn't need to be in hospital. Life would be much better for her if there was no Covid. She's basically shielding as much as she can. She's looking after her daughter who started School last year and at the minute she is decorating her house, slowly. She's happy and on her way back to being strong and healthy. It just sucks that as soon as she was cleared of cancer that Covid hit, and so this is three years of her life where she's been stuck unable to do anything and having limited contact with friends and family. I feel for all cancer patients during the pandemic.

If the opportunity came about to see Madonna, I likely would. I may not like everything she does anymore, but I absolutely idolised her most of my life and she's given me a lot of joy with her music.

Do you plan on buying more Dynasty memorabilia?
And would you be so kind to make a list of the things you already have. Thank you.
I probably have more Joan Collins stuff than specifically Dynasty stuff.
Off the top of my head....
I have the complete Dynasty boxset unopened, as well as the individual seasons which I use to watch. I have The Colbys too.
The original 1980s DYNASTY Alexis and Krystle dolls. They must be like 16 inches tall? They are big!
The Mattel DYNASTY Alexis and Krystle Barbie dolls x 4. Two mint in box and two opened and currently in a wardrobe.
I think I have 4 original DYNASTY production scripts. One of which is the Episode Amanda, one is All Hands On Dex, I would need to check what the others are. Two or three of these have been signed to me by Joan Collins! She has written my name!
I have various 8x10 glossy stills of Joan as Alexis that she has signed. One of which is a still from Alexis and Sable's catfight in season 9 at the Carlton. In the picture Sable is clawing at Alexis' face. Joan has written "Ouch!!" on it and signed it to me. I really want to get Stephanie Beacham to sign it too but I am afraid to post it now. I also had her sign an artists sketch of her too, which is framed now on a shelf along with a framed print of her Warhol portrait.
I have Joan's etched name sign from her dressing room when she starred on Footballers Wives. It's a silver name plate with Miss Joan Collins etched in purple text.
I have The Authorised Biography of The Carringtons book. Joan Collins Beauty Book from 1980 I think? Her books My Secrets, and My Friends Secrets. Also her Books Joan's Way Looking Good Feeling Great, The World According To Joan. Her autobiographies Past Imperfect and Second Act. A few of her novels, including Prime Time and Too Damn Famous. And I recently found a great book from the mid 1980s. I think called the Joan Collins portrait book, or something like that. It's basically just lots of glam shots of Joan from the 1980s with little tidbits from her and her photographer friend. I imagine released smack bang in the middle of the DYNASTY explosion. It's got some great pictures and I had never known about it.

On DVD
Tales From The Crypt.
The Making Of A Male Model.
The Cartier Affair.
The Money Changers.
Sins.
Monte Carlo.
Footballers Wives.
Joan Collins Superstar Collection. A collection of her old Hollywood films, I think about 5 or 6 films from FOX.
Land of The Pharaohs.
Joan Collins Tonight at 8.30 from the BBC. I think this was late '80s or early '90s. It's her doing Noel Coward plays.
The Time of Their Lives.

On LP
Joan Collins Beauty and Exercise record. (An extension of her beauty book from 1980)

If anyone is selling one of these private mail me! :giggle:

Seeing Celine Dion in 2017
Did you have tickets for any concert this year? I could be just confusing myself, but I have a vague memory of you looking forward to seeing someone this year and like myself, all the concerts I have tickets for are moved on to next year. Not that I have much faith in those happening in 2021.

Enjoy your week Alexis :)

Its interesting to hear that you do such a worthwhile, but difficult job. I hope your work-place are looking after you during these difficult times.

How many people do you have in your care?

Do the residents have access to an Activities Co-ordinator, someone who provides therapeutic activities?

You have mentioned some of your favourite actresses, do you have a favourite actor?

I see you like cooking, do you have a signature dish or something you particularly enjoy making?

and finally, do you drive?

Thanks.

Hi @Alexis , from the answers you have given so far it seems you have an exhaustive schedule - so how do you relax on a day off? What do you do to cut off? And, with all the madness going on right now what advice would you give someone having problems coping with it all?
I work long hours, but I usually do what a person would do in a week in 3 days. I usually only work 3 days but it's 3, 12 hour days. I can have 3 or 4 or more days off in a row sometimes which is great. Usually the way it works for me is I usually work a full weekend and a day in the week then the following week I would be off all week end and have 3 days in the week. Usually a day off is spent doing nothing but relaxing, reading, listening to music, or watching Netflix or sometimes my soaps or films. A day where I don't do much always comes after I finish a week. Before Covid I would go for lunch or dinner and drinks with friends at least once a week.
The only advice I could give is take each day as it comes, don't panic, do what you are supposed to do, or what you feel is right for yourself and others safety and that's it. It's tough times but everyone is in the same boat.

Yes, I was supposed to see Celine in Dublin in September but that has been postponed to April next year now, and I don't know if that will go ahead yet. And I received my Steps tickets for November next year, yesterday. Fingers crossed these are ok.

A few more questions for you @Alexis
  1. Have you ever met Joan Collins? If you were able to meet her right now, what question would you ask her?
  2. Who is the most famous person you've met and what were they like?
  3. If you could met anyone in the world (except Joan Collins, Cher and Kylie) who would you choose?
1. No I haven't ever met Joan Collins. I really wanted to see her one woman show but she seems to not be interested in coming to Belfast and it just never worked out financially viable for me to travel to London or where ever for it. It's not like a big pop concert I could get a friend to go to either. I would love to see her in something though.

2. I haven't really met any really famous people. Years ago my friends and I were out one random week night and we went to a local gay bar and my friend Colleen and I met Bernie Nolan, she was there doing Flashdance the musical with Noel from Hearsay. She was really lovely and we ended up drinking with her and had a laugh. I think we were drinking either rum and coke or whisky and coke. We ended up singing Take That's Relight My Fire and I was pissed and belting it out and she told me I had the voice of a young Lulu. She was good craic. Noel wasn't, he really wanted to go with one of my friends but it just wasn't happening. Oh, I also met Gareth Gates when he was in Panto here, he was also at the same gay bar and was trailing some blonde girl to the chippy van. My friend and I said hello and he just snarled like some troll. He was all sweaty and a mess. I joked that I had spent a fortune voting for him on Pop Idol and he was so horribly rude and told me that I didn't f**king spend enough coz Will Young won. Ah, well Gareth... Talent often does win.
Oh and Gok Wan had a quiet pint with us one night before he did a DJ set. He was really lovely too even when lots of really horrible girls kept bothering him to have their photo taken with them. He didn't get annoyed and was lovely to them all.

3. Hmmmmm... If I could meet anyone in the world? I would really like to meet all of Steps. I just love them, and have been considering doing a meet and greet upgrade for next year.

Hi thanks. :) The people I work for are great. There is currently a covid outbreak where I work. On the floor I usually work on. They have moved me and taken every precaution to ensure I am protected and let me know that if at any point I don't feel I can be in the building that it's fine and they will work around it. When I was shielding earlier in the year it was terrible and I don't want to do that again. I am going to stay at work until I really cant be there. If the infection moves beyond where it is I will have to come out of work for another while. I am just a bit pissed that I can not care the people I have been looking after for years and that likely some of them will not be there when I do get to go back. The same thing happened when I was off the back in April - August.
Usually around 27 residents on a floor. Obviously there are a team of staff that look after them. Yes, we have two activities co-ordinators and the place I work at would have lots of things going on all the time. It's really one of the better run places. Since Covid has happened it's been harder to do these things with no visits. Social distancing, and extreme cleaning and stuff it's been a tough time especially for care home residents and a lot of them don't even understand why things are as they are.
I have a lot of favourite actors, I love Jeremy Irons, Robert De Niro, Stanley Tucci, Hugh Jackman, I also love a whole lot of classic Hollywood actors, like Carey Grant, Jimmy Stewart, Rock Hudson. There are too many to name.
As far as cooking goes I cook a lot of Italian food. I love making Lasagne, Spaghetti with prawn and tomato, chili and garlic sauce, risotto, I also make a lot of casseroles and soups. Most people who know me expect me to cook something Italian when I cook for them.
Nope I don't drive. I have no desire to. I am not that kind of person. I don't have that kind of co-ordination. I am terrible with directions and the stress of being on a road in that big metal box on wheels. No. No thanks. I have also been in two quite bad car accidents, and I am just not at all interested.

Any advice for those with grandparents or any one else that has dementia?
You need help first off. You can't pretend it's not happening. You can't look after the person all by yourself. Even whole families cant do it. People with dementia need to be looked after by people who know a lot about it. Who understand the different types, there are many. Who know how to deal with challenging behaviour who wont get frustrated that they are not the person they used to be. Or are behaving in a way they never did.

Find out exactly the kind of dementia if possible, read up as much as you can about it and be realistic. Nobody gets better from it. All we can do is try and make the person as comfortable, happy and content as possible. Never try and correct someone with dementia, just play along, or distract, be patient. But like I say they need to be looked after by a whole team of people. It's not just care workers, not even just care workers and nurses. There are so many other people involved in their care, doctors, social workers, care managers, physios.

Usually when someone comes into our care, the relative that has been looking after them prior to admission is a wreak. They are trying to do the impossible.

and then you go on to list a very impressive list of celebrities who you have met. Gareth Gates sounds like a horrible piece of work.
I would really like to meet all of Steps.
Even Claire? I recall when said on the Steps thread that Lee Latchford Evans used to go to the same gym as me, I was informed that everyone on here hates Claire.
