Bobby and Lucas Ewing

Is it realistic that Bobby was okay with another man raising his son on another continent? Something that has always bothered me. I know Pam was the love of his life but why was he so cavalier about this? Surely there could be some arrangement where he sees Lucas every other weekend and not at the ranch. I don't think Pam and Lucas have to be in the same room at the same time. I was sad about Pam's death and Pam/Bobby not getting their happy ending. But Bobby marrying Jenna later (not right away) but after Pam's death makes more sense especially since they share a child. Even though he loved Pam more, I never thought his love for Jenna completely went away. Those two women were his greatest loves IMO.

Ray supported Jenna's decision not to allow Bobby to see Lucas up until Pam's accident. Ray can certainly show sympathy for Bobby's situation ... it was when he went back on his initial support of Jenna's stance of no contact because boo-hoo Bobby and pressured Jenna to permit it that I lost some respect for Ray. His failure to support Jenna should have been a big, red flag .... they do not belong together. Ray's Ewing relatives come before you do, Jenna.

Yes, Bobby was a participant in conception, but he wasn't pregnant. Jenna was pregnant. Bobby left her to marry another woman. So we had a married man who elected to abandon the woman he got pregnant, then shows up whining about why she didn't tell him. This is mighty strange behavior. So Jenna informed someone behaving in a very bizarre manner that he wasn't pregnant (I guess because he had problems figuring this out for himself) and wasn't a candidate for a Miss Congeniality prize while doing it. Yawn .... what she should have been doing is going out and pricing Presa Canarios.
Unplanned pregnancies right before the relationship goes south happen all of the time, and Bobby marrying Jenna just because she was pregnant would have been a huge mistake that would have only made things worse, especially for Lucas. You can't see that? Tom Brady and Bridget Monahan are an excellent example of how to handle it the right way for the child's sake. Tom took responsibility and provided for their son and was involved in his life as much as he could be, but it was over with Bridget and he didn't make the mistake of marrying her, and their son was better off because of it. I'm sure that Bridget wasn't exactly thrilled that Tom married a supermodel instead of her, but she didn't make things worse for their son by turning into a bitter scorned shrew. She and Tom excitedly share and celebrate their son's accomplishments with each other and are very amicable co-parents. I know from personal experience what the consequences of a very loving and well intentioned father making the wrong choice are, and it's not pretty for either the child or father.

Let's see ... right up until he showed up at Pam's he was telling people he was going to marry Jenna. Then finds out he can actually have Pam, then dumps Jenna. Unusual way for a relationship to go south, but whatever. You and Jenna are in agreement Bobby shouldn't marry her just because she was pregnant (as am I.) So that means Jenna has to pick up the pieces and start a life without Bobby. As Pam said, Jenna had no place in her and Bobby's life and they didn't belong in hers. Bobby would not accept this.
Jenna got a preview of how Bobby regarded children that weren't Christopher. I don't blame her for not wanting more of it.

"Of course Christopher was Bobby's priority,.as he should have been, and Bobby made the right call to spare his emotionally vulnerable son, who had just recently found out that was he was adopted, the nasty and long protracted custody battle for his father's biological son.. " So he "cared" about them both, but one was Bobby's priority. So Lucas is not Bobby's priority. That's settled.

Ray supported Jenna's decision not to allow Bobby to see Lucas up until Pam's accident. Don't forget, Ray cheated on Jenna too AND pressured her to send Charlie away. I think that was totally in Ray's character though. The main reason him and Donna didn't work out is that Ray couldn't bully, dominate and control Donna. With Jenna he could do all those things - and did.

I have never been a fan of Jenna and Ray being more than friends, for a number of reasons. Besides cheating on her, he pulled his earlier support for not having Bobby see Lucas. When you put your brother before your wife, it probably means you shouldn't marry this woman. Didn't he have some sort of inferiority complex regarding not being a true Ewing?

Jenna knew that that she blew her chance to marry Bobby and was always going to come in.sexonf to Pam , yet chose to ignore it. But whatever.

Yes, Bobby sure did a job leading Jenna and Charlie to believe he was going to marry Jenna and they'd live at Southfork. I can agree with Jenna that it wouldn't be a good idea to let him do the same thing to Lucas.

I don't think the Dallas universe was ready for that one.

I would have hated to see Jenna marry Bobby later. How could she ever forget what he had done to her and Charley? What more important, how could she have ever trusted him again.

I mean, to me, Jenna was like every other character who was a parent in Dallas. What was best for her kids always came second to what was best for her. I feel like if she had gotten the chance, she would have married Bobby after Pam died and never given it a second thought.

If I'm not mistaken Pam's death was never really confirmed during the show's run.

That's true. The last we saw of her was when Cliff found her and she blew him off. Wasn't addressed again as far as I can remember.
If I recall correctly, Priscilla wanted to leave after Season 11. Having her marry Bobby would have kept her around .... I don't know if she was open to staying longer. I would have just hated to see her marry Bobby .... the guy couldn't be trusted. I always hoped Donna and Ray would get back together.

The better question is why Bobby would ever have trusted Jenna again after she abandoned him to run off to Europe and led him to believe he was the father of the kid she had with someone else. If anything, Jenna got a well deserved dose of her own medicine.
