I have finally got round to buying Petrochelli S1 and 2 which i always liked as a child and long before Susan Howard playd Donna in Dallas. (Thanks @Ray&Donna - finally came down in price!)
At the time I didnt know the name Leonard Katzman - who wrote, directed and or produced Petrochelli.

As time goes on and Ive watched more episodes its easy to see where / how the Dallas epiodes were named

we have on Petrochelli
Act of love
Fallen Idol
The kidnapping
The Outsiders
Mark of Cain
Survival
Night visitor
Shadow of a doubt

Not to mention a whole host of Dallas Character actors - Im loving it and poor Maggie aka Susan Howard,
At least Ray finished the house he was building, Tony Petrochelli lays about 3 bricks / episode x

Had Tony been building the house out of root beer bottles, he likely would have finished! :D

Donna Mills guest starred in a two-part episode of GUNSMOKE with two titles for the price of one: "A Game of Death...an Act of Love"

Agree, he would have been a great addition to the show. I was happy to see Barry Newman in NYPD Blue, early on, a good actor, always wonder what he is doing now, muct be in his early 80s I would think.

81 now (was born 11/7/1938 in Boston).

Ive just ordered a book on Petrochelli, loving seeing so many Dallas supporting cast appear in the show and Jordan Lee is a fair judge!

Absolutely-- I've seen that second-and-final-season premiere "Death Ride" many a time lately, and Judge Manners (I think that's the name of the judge that Don Starr [the actor] played) was indeed quite tough, but also very fair, applying courtroom procedure equally to both sides (first admonishing the defendant character Gage Hurley [Ned Beatty] for courtroom disruption, then doing the same to prosecutor Frank Kaiser [Michael Bell] for instigation of such disruption by the form of questioning the prosecutor was using [owing to Petrocelli's pointing it out in his apology for Hurley's disruption]).

Having a Petrochelli day x

I have the series and the book too, but I have them in different forms than you have; you got the series in the German single releases, and the book in paperback; I have the series in the Canadian all-in-one from VEI (Toronto-based DVD label), and the book in hardback.

I watched Petrocelli for the first time last year and noticed that guest star Kay Lenz played a character named Janet Wade. Apparently, Katzman liked the name, so he used a slightly altered version in Dallas.

I watched Dallas dubbed in German, and Susan Howard's character had the German voice of Sue Ellen, which was a bit confusing.

Barry Nelson was on Dallas (as Sue Ellen’s divorce attorney). Does that count?
hm, was he a relative of Major Nelson?

With the strong presence of Judge Jordan Lee, all Petrocelli needed was a few appearances by the dynamic Andy Bradley and it would have been unequivocally the finest pre-Dallas show of all time, which it pretty much was anyway.

I've watched this show too. The first season with German dubbing as a friend sent me the episodes. Later I got both seasons on an official DVD release in English. I somehow missed there was a book though.
