Dallas as it should have been IMHO

In my opinion, I would have preferred it if they hadn't made TNT Dallas at all since they knew that Larry Hagman most likely only had limited time to live. That way, at least JR the character never would have died.

I understand your point but I was only using this thread to show what I'd have done if I ran the show, the set up and then the major event of JR dying. I do appreciate your interest. I just needed to work that out, what could have been and move on to my Dallas 2018 story - where things in my mind would go next.

I liked this Chris as well. I even think he was well cast if they'd just allowed him to be a bad ass with a chip on his shoulder. His character in the original wasn't likeable and that's a flaw. Every character should be likeable - even those we like to hate.

I hope it wasn't too much of a shock. Just had to get it down. I did on the first site but that's all gone. So I'm back to 2018.

The scene just made me sad, because I like JR. That's all. But like I said, this way was better than the "We don't what the heck happened to JR." IN TNT Dallas. And even though I'm not a JR/Sue Ellen shipper, I always felt sorry for Sue Ellen on the show because that letter about JR wanting to get together with her turned out to be fake in a way, and it just made her go back to drinking, which was way too repetitive, even if it was an understandable reaction.

I like your Christopher better because he's not a mini Bobby like he was on the show. He is one crafty p****d dude who is out for blood! Whereas John Ross isn't really an angel with all of the connections he can make, but he is not really evil, either. In other words, they aren't the stereotypical good vs. bad cousins like on TNT.

Thank you. It's what I was looking for. I think today we want more then stereotyped good verses evil. Like TNT I thought the story came down to the two boys and Pam. But I hate love trangles with rare exception. I also wanted a strong business woman and a Diva (I might have used Lucy) - to separate and a stud - hence Bo. I'm ok with a lot of sex but sex and business today are a dangerous combination and I didn't want to do easily mix the two. And I agree I like the funeral scene as a whole but the letter was crappy and her master piece was pathetic.

I agree that this was better than what we saw on Dallas TNT. I've written countless times on the TNT board how I think the show would have been more interesting. Like for instance I think they should have skipped the Rebecca con and started with John Ross and PamBecca getting married and their father opposed to it. I think if they had given Bobby and Ann a 12 year old daughter they would have had a stronger foundation for their relationship and it would have pulled in younger viewers. If they had had JR/SE married from the get go...Things like that, which would have made a better show than we got.

Well Dallas TNT was announced in 2009 before Larry got cancer so it's really a shame they didn't developed it a bit faster so we could have gotten more of Larry as JR. I don't like that JR died either but despite the one big mess that Dallas TNT turned into I am still glad we got the show as we got some more magic scenes with JR, Sue Ellen and Bobby and we got John Ross and Pamela Rebecca and Christopher. I actually like the Metcalfe casting. Also Larry got to die while playing the character he seemed to love to play the most, JR Ewing. He got to go out on top and for that I am grateful. :)

Enjoying this but not keen on Katherine having a child or being married to JR. I wish everyone, including the writers of the show would stop separating this great couple. I don't see the need to put them with anyone else - affairs fine, but not marriage. They belong with each other. No other couple has that magic or dynamic and I don't see the need to experiment with JR and his tramps by making them marry. Otherwise enjoying it so far.

Thank you for your feedback. My only reason for the marriage was to make their child a legitimate Ewing. JR would not have married Katherine because he had any feeling for her. I only wanted to make a very clear distribution between his three legitimate children and any other bastard. I agree with you on the connection between JR and Sue Ellen.

Even though I like the idea of a second generation character being JR and Katherine's daughter, I will do agree with you about not liking their marriage in this. Sure it makes for a good twist, but in a perfect world, I would much rather see them married and have a kid in a story because they actually wanted to (although that's impossible in the timeline this story is in), not out of a scheme and Katherine getting pregnant due to JR's disgusting sexual blackmail that he did on TV.

And he did divorce her and go back to Sue Ellen, anyway. But I did think it was one heck of a scheme by Katherine!
