That scene shows how the coffin prop is too small for JF. You'd think they would invest in a size-appropriate one considering how often he's in and out of it.
Re: Daniel, I guess someone on the staff realized they had to leave someone alive to carry on the family name! But they manage to screw THAT up in a future plot anyway.

Dark Eye Shadows is so good right now, various characters are getting involved with Vicky's trial which is complicated by Abigail's death (she has DIED!).
Joel Crothers, Roger Davis, Joan Bennett and Louis Edmonds all deliver the most delicious melodrama.
As I've said before, it's so wonderful to watch on a dark almost-wintery night when I'm all cozied up in my comfy chair in my comfy warm fleece bathrobe.
But I suspect it won't take long before the story returns to Barnabas and Ben having one of their many boring conversations about Josette or whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if that story continues with the effing ghost of Josette.

The fun thing about Nancy Barnett is that she just comes out like a thief in the night, waiting for you...
Josette is the funniest character ever that you love the ghost of Josette, but actually seeing her - why on earth are all these men obsessed with her? She's better off as a memory!

I literally cheered when she fell off the cliff. She did all the thing she shouldn't do and then she still had the nerve to blame Vicky.

When Barnabas saw what the accident had done to her face he suddenly wasn't that interested anymore. Let's hope it stays that way.

Peter Bradford reminds me of Burt Ward's ROBIN '66. It's that same high-pitched hyperactive voice.

It really feels as if the story is building up to an end-of-season sort of climax, and Nathan Forbes has now become the centre character in all of this - which is only a good thing, of course.
They have always made a big fuss about Barnabas and Josette's doomed relationship, but Peter and Vicky are a much more tragic love couple.
She will die, or live and maybe find her way back to her real world and never see him again
Meanwhile, the vampire finally makes himself useful as Trask's supernatural tormentor.
The twists are coming fast and unexpected, like the dead prostitute in Trask's room.
I'm not sure how she died. Barnabas was shouting at her, forcing her to tell where she had hidden his cane (the new fountain pen?) and then she just stopped breathing. Perhaps it was a case of bad vampire breath.
Poor Ben Stokes. When is he ever not being harassed or blackmailed or bossed around by the other Dark Shadows characters? It's such an unrewarding job I almost feel sorry for the actor himself.
I must go back now because I feel something epic is about to happen. Perhaps another character is going to DIE!

There could have been more of a poetic justice if Trask was killed by Angelique, right after she had revealed herself as being the real witch.
The anger on Nathan's face when Daniel told him about Millicent's fortune was very satisfying, but now he sees another opportunity as Daniel's financial guardian.
Which means that Millicent has to be declared insane and incompetent (how very The Colbys of them) and he immediately starts to gaslight her - and in the lamest way possible.
She's not upset when she can't find her earring but he shouts at her to calm down LOL.
However, the situation gets more sinister when he sends her up the tower room, knowing that there is something fishy going on.
Interesting that a part of the Collins dynasty lives in New York, but I wonder why Joshua and Millicent are cousins instead of uncle and niece. It doesn't make sense that they are of the same generation.

It looks as if a permanent lightning storm has surrounded the Collinwood mansion.
Cheaply produced or not, Joan Bennett has quite a wardrobe in this storyline - unlike Nathan Forbes who starts to look like a crew member in De Efteling.
An old woman with witch-like powers tries to defeat the ghost of Angelique but that also doesn't end very well. I'm glad it didn't go on forever because I already know that Barnabas is still a vampire in the 20th century, nevertheless, her demise is definitely one of the creepier scenes. Everything about this Dark Shadows chapter post-Josette has been awesome. It really is one disaster after another and that makes it unstopwatchable.
And now, because of-because of-because of, Naomi Collins has discovered her son's secret whereabouts.
Vicky, Daniel and Peter are all in danger because of that scheming scumbag Nathan Forbes. Joel Crothers seems to enjoy playing this dastardly character and I wonder if and how it will affect my opinion of salt-of-the-earth hunk Joe Haskell.
There is absolutely no difference between David and Daniel, and several actors struggle to remember his new name.
At first I wanted the soap to go back to the 1960s but now I want to stay here, in this storyline.
I even consider buying the original DVD boxset because I'd love to watch DS in better picture/sound quality, but first I need to recover from my Doctor Who purchase extravaganza.

After a series of jaw-dropping climaxes I have to say goodbye to Joshua, Ben, Peter, Countess Du Pré, Millicent and Daniel - the only survivors of the 1795 storyline.
Naturally, the only character who survived for real is Barnabas.
I have to reacquaint myself with the 1968 Collinsport goings-on because I do not remember what happened to Carolyn that made her Barnabas' slave. I assume she was bitten but is she a vampire too now?
What was the purpose of the séance anyway? Had it something to do with Burke, was he missing after a plane crash or something? Wait a minute, are Vicky and Burke engaged or married?
I remember that Barnabas terrorised Julia after she failed to cure him but now she has regained control - or so it seems.
And it is in this first back-to-the-future episode that she is exposed as being a doctor instead of an historian.
The book was right anyway. Nathan and Millicent's marriage was annulled and she won't remember ever being married.
Nathan Forbes himself...he is buried and forgotten. My goodness, what a fantastic villain.
I think it's different with characters like Barnabas, Laura and even Angelique. It's in their nature to do the things they do, it's not a matter of choice.
I'm sure Angelique didn't think of herself as a dangerous psychopath or that she ever had to do all those awful things. But because of the circumstances, and because she did have those powers...
Speaking of whi(t)ch, the writers completely disregarded the rules for their supernatural world when Angelique materialised in human form during Vicky's trial, but there was something so brilliant about her devastating testimony because she didn't say anything bad about Vicky. In fact, during Trask's questioning she didn't lie about a single thing. She only didn't mention that she herself had orchestrated the whole thing but Trask didn't ask her about any of that.
Joshua could not bring himself to shoot Barnabas with the silver bullets and that's perfectly understandable. However, even in a caged situation Barnabas would still wake up during the nights and he'd still have the craving for blood. Even though he was already dead it looks like being buried alive. So much for finding peace.
Knowing everything that has led up to Barnabas' predicament I must say that I appreciate his first storylines much more now, but I hope this is really the end of Josette Collins. Two long story arcs is more than enough.
What a ham! I had kinda hoped for one last twist, that it was Millicent who entered the study. Not that I have any complaints about the body count in this story, I mean like, move over Falcon Crest.
At some point in the story, Vicky and Daniel had to hide in hidden room behind the bookcase in the old house where Vicky was once held prisoner by crazy Matthew (who kept telling her that he was going to kill her, like, ten times in every episode) and I thought it was a nice surprise that they used that room again.
I haven't seen Joe Haskell yet. He's got a LOT of sucking up to do to make me forgive his 18th century shenanigans.
But the thing that matters the most is Peter Bradford. Is he going to find Vicky or will they be separated by centuries forever? It was so romantic and dramatic and I don't care if "Peter" is going to be a reincarnation or descendant or whatever, as long as they're together again. And anyone who tries to come between them must DIE.

No worries....I mean, we all forget a few things from time to time.
Carolyn was just sort of 'bewitched' by Barn, who was determined not to turn her into a vampire since she was a Collins. Julia had turned Barn into a 150 year-old man with her "treatments" attempting to cure him, and Carolyn happened to walk in at the wrong moment. He was about to die so he bit her and the "snack" managed to get him back to looking normal, but of course he was a vampire again. Nancy B played Carolyn's willingness to do anything for Barnabas as if she would have gladly let him turn her, but she did not play it like she was in love with him, exactly---she was willing to help Barn with his plans to make Vicky into his NuJosette. It was sort of like his early relationship to Willie, only with the added tension of her being a lovely young thing who was suddenly acting rather saucy and protective. They wrote that Barn can apparently "release" such people from their condition at will, which is how they dropped that plot point with Carolyn soon after Vicky returned from 1795.
You've probably noticed that a lot of the pre-1795 stories did not exactly pick up where they left off even though Vicky returned exactly to the same time/place she had left. In addition to Carolyn getting her free will back, we no longer had the entire cast obsessed with finding and talking to the mysterious Sarah. Thank God we no longer had to sit through another horrendous rendition of London Bridge is Falling Down.
