Well I absolutely adored this era, especially the finale and am excited for what's to come.
Coronation Street has lost half it's audience between 2005 and now - over 4 million viewers gone....people watch TV very differently now.
I respect everyone's opinions on what they like or don't like, but I find the aggressive attacks throughout fandom of Doctor Who to be very sad indeed.
They are not aggressive attacks - It is constructive criticism
The fans who supported the show through the wilderness years, purchased the merchandise and successfully
lobbied for the show's return deserve respect, not derision, when they express both their dissatisfaction and objections with the production
decisions being made about Doctor Who
It is unfortunate and despicable that these fans are characterized so negatively by the media. The media has become increasingly woke and they vilify anyone who does not not agree with them by calling these people various types of "ist". This is especially true when the facts contradict the media's woke narrative, and the media has no reasonable response.
The facts are that Doctor Who's ratings have declined to historic lows for seasons 12 and 13, Merchandising Sales have declined drastically, the Appreciation Index for Seasons 12 and 13 are at all time lows, and more than half of its former fan base no longer watches the show.
Interestingly, the same people who (hypocritically) praised the casting of a female DW were the first to
stop watching, after 2 or 3 episodes. They don't care about the show's history, tradition and fans, only their own intolerant agenda.
Again, the ratings confirm this.
We all want Doctor Who to regain its integrity and to bring back the fans who have left out of disgust for the woke farce it has become,
and the first step is to admit its failures.
People may watch Tv differently, but the record low ratings and record low Appreciation Index, especially for series 12 and 13
cannot be dismissed. I provided objective same day ratings numbers, and that cannot be dismissed.
That is not negativity, that is an acknowledgement that the show is in serious need of repair.
If consolidated ratings are wanted, they confirm the same decline in viewership.
RTD was clearly brought back to reverse the show's declining ratings and David Tennant's return is a clear appeal
to the droves of fans who no longer care to support the Chibnall/Whitaker farce of the last 4 years.
Going forward, maybe the detestable Timeless Child myth, which contradicts the entire history of the show, can be eradicated. We can only hope
Hopefully, RTD can bring the show back to the special enjoyable sci-fi entertainment that was so loved by the fans
