Long Lashes

Telly Talk Enforcer
The truth is, I do it cause of my mother. I wasn’t there for her at the end the way I should’ve been and I don’t say that with any guilt anymore. I just mean that when I know people are down now it makes me think of her and what I couldn’t do for her. I knew she was unhappy but I didn’t realize the extent of it. So I guess helping people now when I can makes me feel better about her a little.
Thats a special and caring legacy your dear Mother has given you my friend. :)

I hope you don't feel guilty about the past because from my own experience most people feel more relaxed opening up to others who they might not be very close to. Family members especially close ones might be the hardest to be honest with because naturally we all want to protect them , perhaps like your Mother did with you ... hope I've not spoken out of turn here.

I hope that wasn’t too deep and sad and hopefully it made some sense.
Not at all, as I always say anything goes on this thread, its for us all to be ourselves ... happy, sad and of course some insanity.

Oh crud I don’t want this to get sad again cause I’m afraid sometimes I bring others down with this stuff but I also try to be a good friend because of what happened to me two years ago when I had my emergency surgery. I’ll just never forget how sick I was and the loneliness of that time and how stressed I was. Believe it or not this idiot imbecile moron schmuck was going to go get his surgery and not tell anyone, not a soul until after it was over. But at the last minute I broke down and told everyone; my family, friends, coworkers, and I’ll just never forget what they all did for me. I remember one person in my family showing up at my doorstep the morning of the surgery to take me to the hospital, my best friend at work texting me she loved me right before I went in, all the calls I received after the surgery from everyone, the people stopping by to see me, you just don’t forget those things. So I think that’s part of the reason I try to lend an ear to all of them now. I can’t forget those things
Do not worry CHF you never bring us down. You've been through a very tough time, its terrifying if our health lets us down and thank goodness you changed your mind and decided to reach out to others before you went through surgery. It just proves how many people care about you which must've felt comforting.

I do get how scared you were because I went through something similar not long ago which I'll tell you about some other time, when faced with all this you sure do get to know who your real friends are ... I did anyway.

I’ve never tried telling myself “To grow the heck up” though. If it’s okay with you I’m going to borrow that for next time but I think I’ll change it up a little and substitute a different word for “Heck.” Maybe the use of profanity will make CDF listen to himself better.
Feel free to use it

I’m not quite done yet but I bought most of them. I need to sneak out of work early one night before Christmas Day to finish up. And I have wrapped what I did buy so far so we’re getting there.
Ah what a relief! I can now stop worrying .

Well, it’s a little too late to think about this now Lashes. But my personal opinion is the lurkers, if there are any, probably think we’re all nuts
I'm sure they do think we are all a bit insane :loon: ... but who cares? this thread is a fab place to be.

So if any lurkers out there want to join in, then please do :14:

Thank you Lashes! Oh crud I don’t want this to get sad again cause I’m afraid sometimes I bring others down with this stuff
My truth is that I admire your strength of character to speak so openly. Something I find difficult. Watching the stranger that became my friend, watching as a bystander seeing her Ann's light slowly fading until extinguished. Ann's final kindness to me was giving me a forewarning of what to expect. My first big one. Talking about your experiences has given me an idea of an idea of what waiting. All very positive to me.

Thats a special and caring legacy your dear Mother has given you my friend
Well said, My mother did an amazing job singlehandedly raising Big Sister and I. And instilled a moral compass . On the rare occasion or two that I ignored the compass, was totally my doing. She soon fixed that.

We are thinking about putting the Eagles in a separate thread (maybe in the Lounge) for the next season early next year, as we are aware that Eagle talk might be distracting on here
I’m kind of torn on this one. I would hate to see the eagles leave this thread yet it would get them more exposure if we put them in the lounge. This is tough!

I hope you don't feel guilty about the past because from my own experience most people feel more relaxed opening up to others who they might not be very close to
This is very true in my experience as well. Til this very day the subject really doesn’t come up when I’m around. I notice they all tiptoe around it and I understand that. It’s an awkward subject for all of us.

As far as the guilt goes, that’s finally behind me but I have to admit it took many years for that to go away. But once I accepted I did everything I could then I was okay.

. hope I've not spoken out of turn here.
Don’t ever feel that way my friend!

as I always say anything goes on this thread, its for us all to be ourselves ... happy, sad and of course some insanity.
I do have all of those going on quite often LOL

Thank you Lashes! I think sometimes we forget how much people really do care cause we get so wrapped up in ourselves. I think it’s natural to doubt if anyone really does care at times but I notice I’m proven wrong every time.

I do get how scared you were because I went through something similar not long ago which I'll tell you about some other time, when faced with all this you sure do get to know who your real friends are ... I did anyway.
Well, I appreciate you telling us that and I’m glad that we can both say we made it through.

I'm sure they do think we are all a bit insane :loon: ... but who cares? this thread is a fab place to be.
I enjoy it even more than, and I promise you this is still me typing, but I enjoy it more than even the Dallas threads. Hopefully none of them lurk over here and read this.

My truth is that I admire your strength of character to speak so openly.
Thank you Biggie!! It’s not always easy to talk about but when you stop and realize the good times certainly outweigh the bad it makes things easier to accept.

Oh I ignored the compass a few times too, sometimes right in front of the person who gave it to me as she stood there with her arms folded shaking her head. But I’m assuming that’s all forgiven. Though I do notice the compass still works, even after all these years when I choose to use it.

Oh of course, I'd forgotten that too, she's quite a bit older isn't she. I wonder how many babies she's had altogether, during the course of her life?
That is a good question. I'm sure someone on the cam message center would know.

They must feel a bit uncomfortable :giggle:
Indeed!
More eye-to-eye contact from our love birds ...

Great capture!

Some action today.

Perhaps they prefer to sleep standing up? I can't think of anything worse than having to sleep that way, but they have a comfy nest again now, but they still choose to sleep on a branch.

That is hard to understand for us bed sleepers. After seeing Chat all comfortable on the nest in '19 I thought he'd never sleep like his parents.

Here they are together peering in the dark ...

Look as if you woke them.
I didn't capture this shot, I stole it from the site , but I adore this image of an eagle in flight.....

flying-in.jpg

These newer camera angles are great. I really hope we have an active nest this season for the upgrades.

Wow! now that's a beautiful tree, absolutely stunning! :bowing ... What a fantastic view to see the nest so high up from this angle.

I look in on this came a few times a week but so new news on if it's returning. :(
Nor did I. I have heard a dog (or dogs) barking, but I just thought the sound was travelling from a far off home.

I always imagines this nest in the middle of a farming field in the middle of the country. Maybe it still is but those houses were much closer than I expected.

She has scared off the gremlins for now, but those pesky gremlins are no doubt laying in wait and ready to cause havoc on here again :a2:
No doubt, they attack when we least expect it. :censer:
I will think of the question and then The Enforcer plants an answer in my brain :loon:
An you can remember what she/you thinks in The Enforcer state? Is this a part of the upgrade in powers from your alien friends?
h0126.gif

Yes, but they bring unique trends with them. I don't mind losing the odd body part to look on trend, I have my hot image to think of :danc:

But what id Enrique objected to this fashion trend? You better not take off body parts for any trend my friend or else I'll have to turn my negative energies toward your alien friends. They are a very bad influence on you.

As you can see she has a teeny tiny friend to keep her company.

I had lunch with one of my friends yesterday and she brought the tiny Poinsettia for me. As for names?...for the small one I was thinking of Little Tallullah ... I have no idea why?

Any suggestions for a name for my larger Poinsettia are more than welcome :ty:

Wow, she is magnificent as well as the mini Poinsettia. If that the same gold coloured pot uses in previous Poinsettias? I'm amazed by the size of those leaves.

She looks very jolly so a jovial name is in order. I'm so glad you're giving it another go this year.
Right :gotcha: I will start doing this Michelle, thank you.

I hope this one (well two) make it until next Christmas. It is not easy but I'll be hear if you need any advice.

Having said that my Pinkie Poinsettia is very ill and my not be here much longer. I got her earlier this year as a my place of employment was getting rid of their Christmas decorations in January. She started out slow but in Spring and Summer she grew well and I took her to my Mother's home with my others to enjoy the garden. She has remained there with Streetie but hasn't fared well in recent months, leave falling everywhere. I hope she pulls through as I have never lost a Poinsettia.
Ooo well done to Venus , this is good news :bravo1:
Venus has held out for some the with some minor improvements so there is hope from stem rot. I'm so glad I was quick when I noticed this deadly rot or else she would have died this Summer.

You're not so daft my friend. I've been known to talk to plants too.

I'm usually saying .. "so do you need more water or not?" or "oh no you've dropped another leaf"

LOL, I'm glad I'm not alone. It was watering day here for the orchids so they had to listen to me talk to them all morning. They have so many flower spikes I think they are happy. I'm in for a real show in about a month.

I admire your Mother and you too for the dedication you give to your Poinsettias and making the effort to get those beautiful red leaves appearing.
It's fun to see them do their thing. A small part of nature on ones home.

I initially thought just that! But now older, wiser and enlightened, I find this thread very compelling indeed.

2022 is almost upon us, seems like only 5 minutes ago that we were making big plans to welcome the new millennium. A Swinging house party followed by an after party, party. In a few days that'll 22 years ago!

Sure, with age comes those other two but I think I’d trade the wisdom and enlightenment to be young again in a heartbeat.

As do I. My favorite thread and it’s not even close. And that’s because of you guys, the people involved

Hard to believe! Another year gone. And it just seems like they go faster as we get older.

As would I. Back in '99 I was 20somthing and enjoying blissful ignorance. Never crossed my mind back then that the day would come when I worry about my mortgage, how my pension is performing, juggling deadlines at work and so on!

I can't recall where I first heard this: "Time is like a bird, first it perches, then it flies"
Time moves imperceptibly slowly, I find, the passing is marked by the subtle changes that go un-noticed until one day steering out the kitchen window.... the girl across the road in now a teenager... remembering when her mother was pregnant with the now teenager. If that makes sense.

Yes, I was blissfully ignorant in those days as well. There are so many things I would do differently now if given the chance, so many mistakes I wish I could undo. But unfortunately I guess we can’t go back.

Never crossed my mind back then that the day would come when I worry about my mortgage, how my pension is performing, juggling deadlines at work and so on
It’s quite a let down, isn’t it? I thought I was gonna be rich and famous one day but that obviously didn’t happen. And if you told me back then I’d be content doing what I’m doing I would’ve laughed at you. Life took me in the complete opposite direction I expected as it often does.

Makes total sense. The person who hired me in 1998 is now retired and his daughter, who was a year old back then, is now 25 and working with me. Every time I look at her I just can’t believe where the time has gone. I often tell her how old she makes me feel but she just laughs and tells me I’m not old at all. I told her recently how I’d like to retire after my 25th anniversary in June of 2023, to which she replied that if that ever happened she’d just hunt me down and drive over me with her truck so I might as well just stay. So maybe being old isn’t so bad.

Having pondered this for a while, there are two mistakes I'd also undo. Otherwise all my mistakes and the learns from them have all helped me to become a "better" person. You have to make them to benefit from the learns I think.
And if you told me back then I’d be content doing what I’m doing I would’ve laughed at you.
I fell into my type of work in '95. I thought that I'd made a bad decision to accept it. But slowly it began to make sense, my manager back then went out of his way to explain and show how my labours feed into big decisions. Three company's later I love what I do.

A guy I hold dear was clearly startled when I pointed out that we meet when we were 20, now were 41, we have known each other for more that half our lives. If we make 61, it will more than two thirds of our lives. I just never expected to meet some, start having little chats, then go for drink Friday lunch, leading Saturday nights out sinning wholesale, weekend away to Amsterdam, to now both enjoying a slower pace of life but loving his company now even more that when we were busy getting f***** Ministry Of Sound. Met him at that job in '95. The years have passed with disgraceful haste.

Only two? Wow!! That’s not bad at all. I have a few more than two

I do agree with this. Our mistakes are part of who we are. And without them, let’s face it, we really wouldn’t learn anything.

I felt the same way. Why am I doing this? Is this what I want for a career? I was miserable at first. But when I began realizing what an important job it is then it began making me feel important in turn.

Three company's later I love what I do.
I’m glad it worked out. I understand that not everyone loves what they do and that’s unfortunate. I love what I do for the most part. It actually taught me a lot of life’s lessons along the way.
