She's almost too good to be true
I guess this must be quite normal. Most foods I hated as a child I now enjoy, apart from turnips, I can't stand turnips.Yes, they really do. I was always warned about this when I was younger but I didn’t believe it. Now I notice it happening. My tastes in food, TV shows, movies, music, even people, it’s all changed a lot.
This reminds me of the time I was thinking of changing my name on here .. I hadn't been here that long and I didn't like my name so I was considering changing it to @Miss Take or @Ms Steak and then I came to my senses and realised I was taking all this too seriously..Lol!Oh no, we can’t have that!! Not the dreaded name change. But it would be fun to confuse people though.
I need to warn the snails and the slugs that I hope to be out in the garden next week weeding, if they've any sense they'll keep away.Oh, that’s okay Lashes! We’ve all accidentally killed something or other. Your behavior has been good since you got out so I’m sure they’re not watching you anymore.
Oh I see, thank you for answering another of my questions.I do love your daft questions!
I think if you have an injury due to lifting incorrectly it counts against you negatively on your review the next time. It’s kind of just a slap on the wrist. I think they take pity on the injured somewhat. Injuries are such a huge part of our job that I guess they figure they have to put up with it or there would be no one left.
No :eck: .. that's the very last thing you needed to hear. It just shows though, how indispensable you are DFF. I hope your workplace sent you some flowers and a Get-Well card. Not for me of course though. I was laying here after my surgery with my back all bandaged and getting text messages, “When are you coming back? Can you lift yet? Can you walk? Can you run? Can you come back and answer phones on light duty? What did the doctor say?”
Oh I do that at times. When I've given presentations I suddenly become aware that I'm saying "um" more than I usually do, I suppose its because it gives my brain a little rest as I concentrate on what I'm saying next? That's my excuse anywayAnother one I do is “Uh.” I say it an awful lot in between words. I hate doing it but I notice it happening quite often. I wouldn’t mind if it was just “Uh” but sometimes it’s “Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” and it makes me feel like an idiot.

Oh, do you think I should try putting Biggie outside and see what happens? once the weather improves, that is?I'm sure by mid-May your outdoors will be suitable. They do like the sun and fresh air.
Streetie is in for a treatWe'll see how this year goes. I'm a bit nervous about it as Streetie as never been pruned.
You're too kind Lovely Michelle :ch:I never get bored of your images my friend. Never!I love your snowdrops.
My tulips are bright pink, pastel pink and bright yellow. I didn't chose the colours because I just bought a bag full of mixed tulip bulbs, part of me didn't expect them to be a success, but they love our garden. They are past their best now, but if we get some sunny weather and they decide to open again I'll get out there and take a photo. What colour are the if I may ask? It is fun to see them close and re-open their blooms.
No worries my friend, I do remember the blonde bit, but what is this " hot" you speak of?Oh, okay. I read that wrong.Remember Michelle is a hot blonde, that happens. Well hottest but we know that.
Yes, I have been told lots about him by my Mum, I'd love to have met him, but I was lucky to get to know my other grandadI'm sorry to hear that you never met your Grandad. At least you have this interesting story to keep his memory alive.
Ooo Michelle! they look absolutely stunning! gorgeous! :love7: ... the colours are beautiful, how delicate the pale yellow looks. I think we can all agree that you have a bunch of happy orchids, they look fab, fab! fab!!.So many of my orchid family are blooming at this time.

Both plant towers. It's a shame I don't have a more showy place to display them at this time. The lights work so much better on these shelves. They seems very happy.
It sounds like you're at the same stage as we are. I noticed today that one of our apple trees has just started to blossom.Spring is here. The crocuses are done as well as any snowdrops. We have tulips and daffodils in blooms now. The trees are in bud.
I'm raring to go!Who about in the Land of Long Lashes? Are you getting ready to start your garden?
I started today by planting some Sunflower seeds and also some Petunias, these are in the greenhouse for now because we are still getting some frosty nights. I don’t think I’ve ever had a turnip. What I couldn’t stand as a kid, and you’re probably not gonna believe this, was peanut butter and jelly. I just never liked it. And I still won’t touch it.Most foods I hated as a child I now enjoy, apart from turnips, I can't stand turnips.
Those are funny and clever names too but I prefer Long Lashes. If I may ask the daft question for a change my friend, is there a story behind your nickname that you’d like to share? Or was it just something you thought of on a whim? This reminds me of the time I was thinking of changing my name on here .. I hadn't been here that long and I didn't like my name so I was considering changing it to @Miss Take or @Ms Steak and then I came to my senses and realised I was taking all this too seriously..Lol!
I will pray for them to stay away. And I will pray for them even more if they choose to stay.I need to warn the snails and the slugs that I hope to be out in the garden next week weeding, if they've any sense they'll keep away.
Yes, it’s unavoidable really. It’s just a question of when. I’ve been very lucky for 24 years on that job. Luckily only minor injuries so far.I would think it would be impossible never to have an employee injured at some time or other in your line of work.
Thank you Lashes!! But I honestly don’t remember any get well cards or flowers. There were a lot of phone calls and that helped. I got really down after surgery. I think I was feeling sorry for myself. No :eck: .. that's the very last thing you needed to hear. It just shows though, how indispensable you are DFF. I hope your workplace sent you some flowers and a Get-Well card.
Oh, the dreaded presentations!! The word alone gets me nervous. I can’t do those at all. I get so tongue tied and I start biting my lip until I draw blood. I was once giving one in high school that went so bad that I gave up, walked out of the room, went into the hall and screamed and then came back in to finish. The whole class erupted but I don’t think my teacher found it too funny. She just shook her head. When I've given presentations I suddenly become aware that I'm saying "um" more than I usually do, I suppose its because it gives my brain a little rest as I concentrate on what I'm saying next? That's my excuse anyway![]()
You have a nice week too my friend. And stay safe!!Have a good week ahead my friend, how all is well with you
If I may, you should try putting Biggie outside when the weather improves. This Biggie always feels like a weight has been lifted off him when winter gives way to spring.Oh, do you think I should try putting Biggie outside and see what happens? once the weather improves, that is?
To me, I have no reason to doubt you, going solely by your comments and interactions with other stalwarts on this thread, I believe I'm witness to bonds taking form and coalescing into something meaningful and valued. Seriously, well done, enjoy the harvest of your labour's. Keep doing what you are doing, because you are doing it right.I’m very thankful for the people I’ve gotten to know on here so far. I know it sounds corny but it’s made a difference in my life.
Hey, you’re a stalwart on this thread too my friend. Don’t forget that!To me, I have no reason to doubt you, going solely by your comments and interactions with other stalwarts on this thread,
I joined this site to talk about Dallas. That was all I expected. It sounded like fun. And then this whole other world opened up. I think I literally feel closer to some people on this board than I do to my own family.I'm witness to bonds taking form and coalescing into something meaningful and valued.
Thank you Biggie! These are very kind words. It’s good to be appreciated!Seriously, well done, enjoy the harvest of your labour's. Keep doing what you are doing, because you are doing it right

On an opportunistic tangential note, I have to salute you three main protagonists here for not only keeping this thread an interesting and informative read, but for also all appearing in the top 5 of the Most Messages and Highest Reaction Score lists. That's @DallasFanForever @Michelle Stevens and @Long Lashes all quite impressive work.
I thought it noteworthy....

Ah Michelle The Lovely, I appreciate your words.Thank you! We are far from our goal (well @That Bowie Girl's). I thought by 2024 we would hit 10,000 but that seems unlikely as we have yet to reach 5000. No big deal. As long as this site and we the members remain we'll get there having fun along the way. I'm glad you stopped by as for years it seemed that only very few people bothered to explore this thread or even the Games section. Thank you @Biggie for being a part of this thread.![]()

Ooo keep awayI don’t think I’ve ever had a turnip.

This really surprises me, I wrongly assumed all Americans would like it, which is silly of me. Its something I keep meaning to try as I've never had it.What I couldn’t stand as a kid, and you’re probably not gonna believe this, was peanut butter and jelly. I just never liked it. And I still won’t touch it.
Lol!... You may ask me daft questions anytime. If I may ask the daft question for a change my friend,
No clever story I'm afraid. Its just that I do have naturally long lashes and I was stuck and couldn't think of anything else.is there a story behind your nickname that you’d like to share? Or was it just something you thought of on a whim?
What an imaginative child you where . I used to plan running away from home, especially after I had been in bother for something, but I was always too lazy to do it, I liked my home comforts too much to rough itDallas Fan Forever actually has a long convoluted history behind it. It involved a 10 year old boy, a suitcase, a certain Dallas cliffhanger in 1985, and my one attempt at running away from home LOL

I would definitely have sent you some flowers and a card. Good to hear you got a lot of phone calls, its always comforting to know others are thinking about you. I'm not surprised you got down after surgery, you'd been through a heck of a lot of trauma. But I honestly don’t remember any get well cards or flowers. There were a lot of phone calls and that helped. I got really down after surgery. I think I was feeling sorry for myself.
I'm not a fan of presentations either. I've had to do them through my job and it did get easier, but I never stopped being nervous .. which in a way kept me on my toes.Oh, the dreaded presentations!! The word alone gets me nervous. I can’t do those at all. I get so tongue tied and I start biting my lip until I draw blood.

Thank you Biggie, I will take your advice, especially as you are the expert on 'Biggies'. I'm just glad I've managed to keep my Biggie alive this long after Christmas. If I may, you should try putting Biggie outside when the weather improves. This Biggie always feels like a weight has been lifted off him when winter gives way to spring.

but thank you. Your contributions are always a good readI do enjoy TT more than I initially anticipated, and I hope that I contribute in a positive manner overall, even if it doesn't make sense.
Ewww, I can't stand them. Bat least they're a healthy food so Replika is getting one of her fruit & veg five a day

That’s never a problem Lashes. No apology necessary my friend!DFF and everyone, I'm sorry for the late responses,
Not this American! And everyone I know pretty much thinks I’m nuts that I won’t eat a good ol’ PB & J sandwich. I had one when I was a kid and I thought it was the worst thing I ever tasted. Maybe I would like it now, who knows? But no one can get me to revisit it.This really surprises me, I wrongly assumed all Americans would like it, which is silly of me. Its something I keep meaning to try as I've never had it.
LOL!! I figured it was something that simple. No clever story I'm afraid. Its just that I do have naturally long lashes and I was stuck and couldn't think of anything else.
Yes, well, maybe back then but now it’s much harder to imagine I notice. It takes too much energy as we get older. What an imaginative child you where
I stayed for the food. That was my primary concern.I used to plan running away from home, especially after I had been in bother for something, but I was always too lazy to do it, I liked my home comforts too much to rough it![]()
Thank you Lashes!! Looking back on it I think I made it more than it was though. I shouldn’t have gotten down after it was over. There was plenty of time to get down later when the bills started coming in.I would definitely have sent you some flowers and a card. Good to hear you got a lot of phone calls, its always comforting to know others are thinking about you. I'm not surprised you got down after surgery, you'd been through a heck of a lot of trauma.
I’m glad they got easier for you. They never did for me though. Til this day I can’t talk in large group settings. When they acknowledge me for something in a meeting or give me an award I grab it and run out of there as fast as possible with no speech. Can’t do it, sorryI'm not a fan of presentations either. I've had to do them through my job and it did get easier, but I never stopped being nervous .. which in a way kept me on my toes.
24 years and I’m still waiting for a slow day. I’m gonna assume it’s not happening anytime soonHope all is good with you DFF and that they are not working you too hard.
Thank you DFFThat’s never a problem Lashes. No apology necessary my friend!
Do you ever eat peanut-butter at all? I sometimes have it on toast if I'm in that sort of a mood. Have you ever tried a jelly sandwich? we call it jam and a jam sandwich brings back memories of childhood for me. Except we called them jam-buttiesNot this American! And everyone I know pretty much thinks I’m nuts that I won’t eat a good ol’ PB & J sandwich. I had one when I was a kid and I thought it was the worst thing I ever tasted. Maybe I would like it now, who knows? But no one can get me to revisit it.

Don't be so hard on yourself my friend, you can't help how you feel. I don't think any of us can predict how we will feel after such a trauma, your emotions must've been all over the place.Looking back on it I think I made it more than it was though. I shouldn’t have gotten down after it was over. There was plenty of time to get down later when the bills started coming in.
Lol! .. one of my friends is just like youTil this day I can’t talk in large group settings. When they acknowledge me for something in a meeting or give me an award I grab it and run out of there as fast as possible with no speech. Can’t do it, sorry
24 years? heck no, I don't think you will get a quiet day. At least in your business you will always have a job, but its a shame you don't occasionally get a lazy day to catch your breath.24 years and I’m still waiting for a slow day. I’m gonna assume it’s not happening anytime soon
Never. Can’t stand it, although I do love peanut butter chocolate if that makes any sense at all LOLDo you ever eat peanut-butter at all?
I appreciate you saying that Lashes! I do think we can be our own worst enemy at times. I couldn’t describe my emotions that week if I tried. I remember making my last delivery the day before surgery and sitting in front of this house crying for a few minutes, wondering if it was the last delivery I would ever make. I was also sitting there hoping they didn’t have any cameras catching me crying. And I remember later that day going to the hospital for the dreaded pre-op visit. That wasn’t fun, and as I’m walking all depressed back to my car I get a text from my arch nemesis at work, the girl who pranked me but somehow lived to tell about it. And she texts me just three words, the nicest three words in the English language that you can say to someone. So now I’m crying again like when I was in front of that last house and I texted her back that these three little words better not be another prank cause I’m really not in the mood for her games right now. Her response, although I can’t repeat it here, did a good job of convincing me she meant what she said. So it was a very emotional week. The best part though was waking up in the hospital after it was all over and hearing that nurse punching her computer keys. That’s the first thing I remember hearing when I woke up. It’s such a normal sound but it’s become one of my favorites since then because it was the first thing I heard, followed by her telling me that it’s all over and I’m gonna be fine.Don't be so hard on yourself my friend, you can't help how you feel. I don't think any of us can predict how we will feel after such a trauma, your emotions must've been all over the place.
Well, at least I’m not the only one. I avoid meetings whenever possible for the most part, or I just stand way in the back so I will not get noticed. Hiding behind bigger people than me or women with a lot of hair also helps I notice.Lol! .. one of my friends is just like youshe can't bare being acknowledged for anything at work in front of everyone, she always says she would rather be ignored than singled out.
I would love one of these! It never really slows down in our business. I guess I do have slower days than others but it stays pretty steady for the most part.a lazy day to catch your breath
Oh, do you think I should try putting Biggie outside and see what happens? once the weather improves, that is?
Streetie is in for a treatyour pruning will probably give her a new lease of life.
My tulips are bright pink, pastel pink and bright yellow. They are returning love in their own way.Ooo Michelle! they look absolutely stunning! gorgeous! :love7: ... the colours are beautiful, how delicate the pale yellow looks. What a treat to see them :ty:

Oh and I've just bought some Sweet Peas, I tried growing these last year intending to fill the house with vase full of colourful flowers, apparently the more you pick them the more they grow. Anyway, I ended up picking two tiny flowers .. yes just two, it was pitiful  ... hopefully I will be more successful this year.
