Hello everyone! Sorry for the wait, though you might consider it the typical hiatus that occurs between each season.

I must confess, I'm a little intimidated by the second season having 24 episodes, especially if they're all going to be more on the episodic side, but oh well. Must push on!
So, without further ado, here is
Season 2 Episode 1
(And this time, I skipped the "preview" at the beginning; all I saw was Jock as Miss Ellie what was wrong, and she said in a weirdly happy voice, "Nothing!")
I notice in the credits, we still have all the same players from last season, and no newcomers. Kind've odd; I guess I'm used to Dynasty changing its cast almost every season.
Ahhh, Southfork...
Oh wow, the pool is being used! And its not winter anymore! 0_0 Though I guess in last season's finale it was summer as well, but here it really does feel like summer. ^^
Jock and Ellie sitting on the porch, chugging lemonade (least I think its lemonade). Its kind've weird seeing them be waited on by a waiter like that. Last season I don't think I saw a single maid around the house, or even a butler. Now we've got a waiter in a fancy white jacket serving these casually dressed people who look like they've never employed a servant in their lives!
Ah. JR and Sue Ellen look much more like the type of people who'd be waited on by a waiter in a white coat, lounging by the pool and going over files... and crossword puzzles. X)
Sue Ellen's wearing a brown one-piece bathing suit... and I think I can somehow see her nipples. ^^ Not that I mind.
Ooooh, *Pam's* in a bathing suit too! And its *red*.

Aww, she's all floating in the water, looking like a fallen angel, while Bobby swims nearby...
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAAAA! Sue Ellen asks for JR's help for something in her crossword puzzle (something about what floats in water), while JR stares with obvious over-interest at his floating sister-in-law, with her cleavage well in view, and he says, "Buoys." I mean... ahhhhh...
I suppose it was only a matter of time before JR's wandering eyes would end up realizing that Pam is more than just "that Barnes girl"... she's also a hot chick.
Uh ooooooohhhh... Sue Ellen asked what JR said, and JR spells out "buoys" for her, slipping his sunglasses back on, but Sue Ellen has looked up and takes notice of Pam's beauteous figure floating in the water.... and her rather large cleavage....
Sue Ellen knows what her husband was looking at: "Thank you, JR."
Oh Sue Ellen, you poor, poor sap.
And of course we have Lucy here, wearing a bathing suit too. And it looks like its pink... is it a bikini? Can't really tell...
Pam and Bobby are having a swimming race. They seem to tie, sort of, have a little splash fight, then hug. They're so cute. X)
Jock calls out, "Not too much Pam!" Ellie says she's alright, the exercise is good for her. Awww... Jock's being sweet, looking out for his daughter-in-law like that, though Ellie has a point too. And she's being encouraging toward Pam as well. Real sweet.
Awww, Bobby lifts Pam up and they share a kiss while they're still in the pool. Cute. X)
Oh! Haha, I thought the music playing was part of the show's soundtrack. Turns out it was just playing on Lucy's radio.
Wow, what a b*tch thing to do, Lucy! Pam says, "I love this song!" and Lucy turns off the radio. Dang, girl, back to being cold, are we?
Jock once again fusses over Pam; she's clearly irritated, but keeps her cool. Aww, her father hasn't talked to her in weeks!

And aww, she blames Jock for it!

At least Bobby is defending his dad; I'm on Bobby's side. Digger got himself drunk and made an ass of himself, he's got nobody to blame but himself. And he's the one keeping himself from talking to his daughter, and right when she could use his support the most! I don't like Digger at all right now.
I gotta say though, Pam's cleavage in that bathing suit... X) Ah, and she shows off her nice legs by placing her feet in Bobby's lap... they really knew how to utilize Victoria Principal's beauty, didn't they?

I wish they had more of this stuff on Dynasty.
Oh, Lucy's suit is a one-piece, but its one of those with the back completely expose, seems like. ^^
Aww, Miss Ellie tells a rather cute story of how, when she was 4 or 5, her daddy took her to a cattle auction, and at first she was upset because she didn't want any of the cattle sold off - but once she saw all the other cattle and heard all the other buys, "pride took over and I swelled up." Her daddy's cattle was the best!

Sounds a lot like something that should have happened to Fallon. X)
Huh. Now the conversation has taken a slightly more boring turn, though Jock said something about Bobby taking some kind of job in Vegas. Judging by both Bobby and Pam's reactions, the former hadn't told the latter yet. Heh, Bobby's face, "Nice goin', Dad!"
Miss Ellie mentions how Gary, her third son, "was the cowboy of my sons. He really loved this ranch!" So he was the only one who took an interest in the ranch part of the Ewing fortune; JR and Bobby have taken more interest in the oil part.
Uh oh. The mention of Gary's name has made things quiet and awkward.
JR goes over to soak his feet in the pool...
...and HAH! Lucy is brazen enough to loudly point out how quiet things get when her daddy's name is mentioned. "I wonder why that is?" That sarcastic little smile... right now she strikes me as a wild combination of Fallon and Sammy Jo. ^^
Both Lucy and Sue Ellen have got their eyes on JR, whose own eyes are covered by gigantic sunglasses.
Sue Ellen brings over a cold drink for her "darlin'." Oh Sue Ellen...
Ah man, I was hoping she was gonna dunk the other glass over his head! Oh well. Dang, she's hot, though. Skinny, but hot. I wanna see her and Pam catfight now.

And serve Lucy a few slaps.
Now Sue Ellen (whose bathing suit is also the kind with the back all exposed) is telling Jock she's sure JR would "just love" to go to the cattle auction with him. Ah, I see; after the miscarriage incident, Sue Ellen wants her husband to get back in good with his father. I can see why.
Now she's kneeling next to JR and tells him with that phony, manipulative cheerfulness of hers' that "Daddy" is taking him to the cattle auction. "Isn't that wonderful?" And JR gives her such a look... before shooting a quick, nodding smile to his father. Sue Ellen stands, with a dark look on her own face. She turns and walks back over to the seats...
...yeah, work it, girl, hahaha...
...She picks up a brown... shawl? robe? Can't tell, it just matches her suit, and JR gets up and follows her. Uh oh...
Oh, it was a 'wrap' of some kind. Now she looks like she's wearing a little brown dress. Not bad. But anyway, JR confronts her, and Sue Ellen sarcastically tells him that its a wife's duty to come to the aid of her husband. And that spending time with his father is important, no matter what the environment.
JR tells her to listen-
"NO! YOU LISTEN."
Dang, Sue Ellen, way to law down the law! Now she's giving hubby the run down: "Little brother Bobby is taking everything away from you!" Wow, now she's sounding like Sable. ^^
And Sue Ellen still thinks of Pam as "that girl." Pfft.
JR then comes swingin' back, saying that Ewing Oil is where its at because of him, that he's had Bobby running errands, etc, etc. And that if Sue Ellen wants to keep sleeping between those satin sheets...
(...satin sheets? 0_0 )
...then she shouldn't tell him how to run his business.
Gotta give the guy credit for not letting his wife hen-peck him, though Sue Ellen, you really should just divorce this guy and find somebody else while you're still young and beautiful... except I know you won't. You'll be stuck with JR till you're both old and wrinkly.
Heh heh, the scene cuts to Pam and Bobby's bedroom, and as bathing suit-clad Pam enters, the camera pratically flies up to her to get a better look! X)
Oh, so it was a convention Bobby was going to in Vegas, not a new job. Whoopsy.
Aww, and Pam obviously doesn't want him to go. And of course, Bobby was saving the news for "sort of a surprise."
...oh my gosh, the look she gave him, I'm surprised he didn't burst into flames!
AWWWWWWWWWW, he tells her they're BOTH going! Yaaaaay!

And that means we're not going to get the whole contrived "you told me/you lied to me/I'm going anyway" bullsh*t! XD Good, cuz I hate those scenes.
Wow, the Dallas theme song plays while we get a grand tour of Vegas. And the high-up shot of the hotel interior makes me dizzy.
WOW! That is some dress Pam's got on, all nice and white!

White really is her signature color, isn't it? Guess its supposed to symbolize her purity, huh? I rather like that.

Pam looks magnificent, though.
Ewww, some creepy-looking dude is staring after them! Stalker? Assassin? Blackmailer? Potential rapist? Obviously he's going to be important later on...
A big fat guy has entered a party. He looks very much a happily rich type of guy. XD Oh my gosh, this party is so '70s... though that's cuz it WAS the '70s, but, yeah.
Hm, Bobby is chatting with some random old cowboy and his wife, talking about how cattling has stolen his dad's heart.
Cut to the cattle auction. Oh, this is gonna be awkward... or at least I figure... and kinda hope.
There's JR, Jock, Lucy and Ray (I was wondering when he was gonna turn up) in the stands. Now they're out walking... oh gosh, Lucy is so tiny next to all those tall men.
WOW! Jock just gave Lucy a couple hundred bucks just in case she got hungry as she breaks off from the men to go do something else, and Lucy just says "Thanks" like its no big deal... but then again, she's probably used to being given that much cash at a moment's notice. And Jock is supposed to be a millionaire, so... dang, I wish I could do that, just casually hand out $200 like it was just a five or a ten. Heh, I'd certainly get popular, that's for sure.
Oh, and Ray's going with Lucy. More dang drama between these two? I'm kinda sick of their relationship right now, I hope something different happens... Hm, Lucy didn't want him to come with her, though he's still going after her because Jock told him to. Hm...
Lucy seems really upset now, and now they've exited the auction and have across the street. Lucy's still trying to shake Ray off. She threatens to tell Jock about her and Ray, but Ray isn't at all intimidated. Wow, she sure is determined... oh, she's got a hot date now, huh? I wonder if that's that waiter from the pool...
Yep, looks like it. I think, anyway, he's not very distinctive.
Lucy gets in the guy's car and tells Ray she'll be back in an hour.
"It's not what you think."
Um, Lucy? I don't think Ray's an idiot.
"Oh, I don't care!"
Hah, that's a gesture I remember Fallon doing.
Oh! It's Pam's cousin. I had forgotten all about him. Ray tells Lucy that Jock won't take to this at all.
"Then you make sure he doesn't find out."
Good one, Lucy. Even Ray looks impressed. But mostly irritated.
They're going to the Hot Bisquit, and... we get a rather dramatic close-up of a blonde waitress in a pink uniform. She looks oddly familiar... or maybe she's just looks like someone else. Meh? Heh, though she's amusingly disgusted at the meager tip the last customer left her ("Nice").
Huh. Lucy and Pam's cousin go right up to her; both parties seem rather pleased to see one another. Oh, so they've already met here, huh?
...wait, is Lucy here specifically to meet the waitress?
.......wait, did I just hear Lucy volunteer to help the waitress clear the table?!
....did we pass through the Looking Glass? 0_____0
The guy behind the counter talks to Pam's cousin, commenting how the two women look like sisters. Oh, the waitress' name is Val?
I know I've seen the name Val thrown around quite a lot whenever I've seen people talk about Dallas before, so I'm guessing this is the introduction of a very important character?
OH MY GOSH IT'S LUCY'S *MOTHER*?!
...I did not see that coming.

Well that explains a lot. Although it does put Lucy in a remarkably more sympathetic light than how she's been beforehand. Aww, she looks kinda sweet, helping her mom out with the dishes like that, that little "Oops!" she makes when she almost breaks them.
(I'm sadly reminded of Claudia as a waitress and the scene where Lindsay dropped the dishes, causing her mother to yell at her... and for Lindsay to cry... again...)
And now Bobby is seeing his guests out of the apartment. I noticed one of the women had a particularly bony back. ^^
Bobby calls up to Pam that the guests are gone... but then there's a knock at the door.
Um... a waiter comes in, and starts cleaning up. He says he's compulsive, he can't stand the thought of this messy room, "Once I start I can't stop." ...Ummm...?
Bobby's not having any of it, though, he takes the guy by the arm, and looks him in the eye... and recognizes his face. Obviously the guy from the airport earlier. The guy makes a really creepy face at Bobby.
*GASP*!
Its Gary! Bobby's brother! Lucy's father! Holy...
Heh! For a split second, I thought Bobby was gonna punch him, but actually it was just Patrick Duffy's weird acting as Bobby was really just pulling his long-lost brother in for a bear hug.
...Wow. Yet another fanservice-y moment as Pam walks down the stairs wearing a black swimsuit before wrapping herself up in a white bathrobe. For a split second I wondered why she was wearing that, but the remembered Bobby mentioned a few seconds ago that he and his wife were going to go down to the pool. Perfect excuse on the writer's part to keep Pam nearly nude for that much longer this episode.
Heh, Pam doesn't know what to make of this, and she makes no connection when Bobby tells her this is Gary, not that I blame her. Gary's not someone she would be thinking about often.
Aww, but the way how she looks at Gary once she realizes who she is, that quietly surprised delight. X)
...Gary still looks creepy as hell. I can't remember if I've heard his name thrown around as often as Val's, so I don't know if he'll stay around. I kinda hope he doesn't, cuz... well, he's creepy-looking. Ew. I mean, Bobby and JR aren't good-looking either, but I can at least look at them without feeling the urge to go "Ew!"
Aww, Lucy and her mommy are in a park together. Val's running her hand through her daughter's hair.
"I can't believe how lucky I am I found you again," she says. I wish I could remember what the story was with her back in season 1, but oh well. I'm sure it'll be brought up later on. Hopefully.
Lucy wants to hear more about her mom and her daddy, even though Val points out she's been telling her daughter the same story for the last couple months. (It is kind've interesting, though, how for once, Lucy going off with a boy in his car really was "Not what you think.")
So the story is that a 15-year-old Val aged herself up to 16 "to get the job", and then "the prettiest man I ever saw"... wait, Val. You thought *Gary* was... well, he was younger then... nope, I can't see it. I can't. Just can't.
"What does a man in love eat for lunch?" Oh Gary, that line... and using it on a waitress you just met.
Huh. Though from the sound of things, Gary was a real gentleman. Waited till they were married to consumate. ^^ That seems like such a rarity in soaps. Heh heh, and Val said she was glad about that; "I was a good girl."
"He was the dearest man every day I knew him... till he took me home to meet his family."
And just like that, the tone of the scene shifts from dreamy and nostalgic and becomes darker and sinister. Lucy certainly understands.
Huh, so the family didn't want Gary married to a waitress? And Gary "wasn't strong enough to stand up to them. ...Especially to JR."
JR...
Oooh, Lucy's face...
Huh. She just said she always thought she hated JR more than anyone, which is weird because I never got that impression last season. But at least she has reason to *now*.
I'm gonna pause and make a theory: the Gary with Pam and Bobby is a phony, and Val will be instrumental in revealing the fraud. And that could lead into Val being welcomed back to Southfork...? But anyway, on with the episode!
Gary explains to them that he gambled himself into debt and heavy alcohol, and says, "So I did the only thing a real man could do."
"Abandon his family?" I thought.
"I blacked out."
Oh. I guess a real man would do that too.
So he explains that he eventually wound up in Vegas, and no, Bobby, he's been *trying* to get on the straight and narrow, but he kept slipping back. If this isn't the real Gary, then he's got a really good explanation.
Hah! And he said he got over it by becoming a bartender. "You keep all the stuff in front of you there! Its the only way."
And to deal with his gambling addiction, he got a job dealing blackjack. Bobby voices my thoughts, "I love it! I love it!"
Gary also explains he saw Bobby's name on the guest list, and that's how he knew where they were and why he came up. Bobby asks if he would have come up if it had been Jock's name on the list. Gary says he might have.
And JR?
Ooh, Gary gets such a dark look and whispers, "What do you think?" I think I'm convinced this is the real Gary after all... maybe. XD
Pam tells Gary she thinks they have something in common.
Yup. Pam still hates JR for causing her miscarriage. Not that I blame her.
Bobby lightens the mood by saying this golden line:
"Hey c'mon. JR's not that bad."
Pam and Gary crack up.
Back to Lucy and her mama...
Awww, Lucy wants to live with her mom! X) Val, of course, is worried what Jock would if he found out. Lucy suggests moving to another state. Val says they tried that when Lucy was a baby: "If he found us then, he'd find us now!"
Boy, that sure makes Jock sound creepy, doesn't it?
Lucy points out that Bobby married Digger's daughter and Jock hasn't broken them up. Val's response: "Just give him time, sugar-plum."
Cynical, isn't she? Though understandably so. She tells Lucy they'll keep things the way they are - for now. "Then we'll see." Lucy seems satisfied with that, at least.
This warm mother-daughter exchange is so sweet, it makes me sad to think of all the awful stuff these two might go through in the upcoming seasons.
Val is an attractive woman, though. Her face is a little haggard, but that's to be expected, given the life she's led.
Bobby's telling Gary about his daughter. The way how he describes her, you'd think he was talking about Shirley Temple!

"A smile that would melt rocks"? Oh Bobby...
"And sweet lord, is she sweet!"
"Oh Bobby, she's a wildcat!"
Heh heh, Pam's got the right idea, though I can think of a few other words I'd use to describe Lucy Ewing...
Pam gives Gary a more truthful run-down of what his daughter (and her lifestyle) is like, though Bobby continues to point out the "brighter" parts.
"So far I like her," Gary says with a grin. Nice to know he's under no delusions.
Pam is pleased with that and says she thought he would. He asks her if she likes Lucy.
For a second, I thought Pam was going to admit that she didn't, but then she says, with a sincere smile, that she did. Huh. Weird. Hard to say if I totally believe Pam right now or not. So far her relationship with Lucy has been a little muddled. They haven't had really much in the way of one-on-one time, not since episode 2. So I really don't know where they stand with one another, especially since Lucy still has occasional bouts of cruelty towards Pam. Of course, that could just be how Lucy relates to people (aside from her mother).
Bobby picks up the phone to tell Mama that Gary is coming home, but Gary stops him. He's in no hurry to come back home. But Bobby tries to convince him. Will he succeed?
Gary seems to not want to come back because of JR, though the way how he says, "Maybe just for a visit" has got me suspicious that this isn't the real Gary.
Gary checks his watch and says he has to get going, but he'll think about coming home. Hm, he kind've agreed a little too readily, or at least he said he'd think about it a little too soon. I don't know, I would have figured Bobby would have had to work harder than that to convince his brother, especially after all he went through...
When they're alone, Pam voices her doubts, reminding him how tough his family can be. Though I think she went a little far in saying, "Look what they did to my dad at the barbecue!"
Pam, honey, Digger did that to himself. I'm sorry, but your dad's a pathetic drunk. You can't blame anyone else, especially not your husband's family, for that.
Bobby points out that Gary isn't anything like Digger, and Pam says she hopes not (ah, so she's slightly acknowledging her dad's faults, huh?). Then Bobby says a weird line about getting into his swim trunks and being burnt to a crisp.
Bobby reveals Gary was Miss Ellie's favorite son, "A Southfork among Ewings!" she used to call him.
Gary's now alone in a Vegas restaurant... oh no wait, Pam's come to join him. She tells him that Bobby got waylaid by some friends and will be here in a minute.
But dang, Pam looks *gorgeous* here. This is the first time this episode she's had her hair down. Its falling in flowing sweeps around her shoulders, and once again, she's wearing white. Absolutely gorgeous. How did a guy like Bobby get a girl like her? I'm sorry, but I just had to say that.

(Hah, I'm so mean and superficial.)
Gary says he doesn't hate JR or Jock anymore, but he doesn't need to see them. Ever. And Pam makes the most hilariously adorable quirk with her eyes.
Aww, Gary misses his mama, though. Though he says he can live with that.
"But..."
"Lucy," says Pam, hitting the nail on the head.
Gary says he's an outsider, and Pam knows what the feels like. "They don't make it easy on outsiders."
And that, Pam, is why the Ewings are such miserable people.
Gary more correctly points out though that its JR who doesn't make it easy on outsiders. Though I keep on thinking about how Sue Ellen keeps on shutting Pam out. I'd like to see Pam slap Sue Ellen. And vice versa.
Gary says he thinks he can do it, make a visit.
Pam says he can lean on her, another outsider, and he says he appreciates that.
Bobby arrives, and he's sorry he's late.
HAH! And he already had three plane tickets home to Dallas. Boy, he sure was sure of himself, wasn't it?
Oh! Its that one scene that I briefly saw in the preview: Ellie comes out, Jock asks her what's wrong, and she says, "Nothing! ...He's coming home!"
Oh, Ellie's so happy, and Jock... looks so sad and awkward and hurt, like he doesn't know how to feel. JR and Sue Ellen don't look too thrilled either, though JR forces some cheer when Mama asks him if he heard: "Yes, Mama, I heard!" Oh my gosh, he might as well have been kicked in the nuts when he said that.
Miss Ellie more or less gives orders that JR forget about the office and Sue Ellen not go into town. "Of course not, Miss Ellie," Sue Ellen says with that phony Stepford grin of hers'. Oh my gosh, somebody SMACK her!
Miss Ellie continues to look bubbly... but then she looks suspicious and her face hardens, and says, "I don't want anything to go wrong."
Wow, and she really lays into her husband and son, telling them the past is in the past, do what they can to help Gary settle back in, "Don't put up walls."
Jock starts to walk by his wife.
But then Miss Ellie says in the most warning tone of voice I've ever heard her speak: "Jock, did you hear me?"
He turns omniously around...
...but he asks her what kind of man does she think he is. His son is coming home and he barely knows him. He's not going to put up walls, he's going to tear them down. He continues walking off.
Sue Ellen is NOT pleased, and says JR better get another office. JR, however, is more confident, and I think he has reason to: Gary is a rancher, not an oil-man.
Sue Ellen does point out Lucy will be excited.
"Lucky Lucy," mocks JR.
And once inside, JR goes straight for the booze. Sue Ellen sweetly points out its not even lunch yet. She again reminds me of Sable when she voices her suspicions that Gary wants something. JR says Gary's not smart enough to want anything, or strong enough to ask for it.
Sue Ellen makes herself interesting by subtly (and mockingly) confronting JR about why he drove Gary away.
JR, however, insists he did everything to keep Gary around, that he was going to send him to college and annul his marriage "to that trashy girl!" You're one to talk, JR, about trash.
"Only he left and that girl stayed, right?"
"He did not leave, he flat ran out!"
I'm reminded of The Colbys, where Jason once described Phillip's marriage to Frankie.
JR says that Gary was always running away.
Sue Ellen, with a smirk on her face, asks her husband how he's going to handle two brothers, though JR says he doesn't have to handle anyone. He's confident Gary won't stay. "He's a loser, been a loser every day of his life. ... He'll mess up this visit. Without any help from me."
I kinda hope that'll happen, that Gary will be the one who messes up while JR gets to sit back and silently gloat. X)
Lucy's out riding horses wearing a lacy tank-top. Oh wait, its not a tank-top, its a tube-top, with... a weird little... flap/flounce/whatever hanging off it... whatever. She's looking for Ray now.
Oh ew, now she's flirting with him again. I mean ew, Lucy, just move on, will you? Move ON.
Oh, don't let her kiss you, Ray... oh good, he's pushing her away. Keep on pushing, Ray. Keep on pushing...
And Bobby and Pam have pulled up, with Gary in the back. Lucy sees them through the window. Oh, this should be interesting... and thankfully it means the end of Lucy trying to get into Ray's pants. Ew!
Gary notes that Southfork looks the same.
Lucy continues to stare out the window. She asks Ray who Gary is. Ray gets out his binoculars.
Miss Ellie comes out... and oh my gosh, how can a moment be so heartbreaking and so heartwarming at the same time? Wow, gotta give props to Miss Ellie's actor, the way she said, "Oh Gary!" carried all the weight of a mother missing her favorite child for too many years.
Jock has followed Miss Ellie out, and shakes Gary's hand. Aw, and Gary calls him "Daddy."
Hm, I guess this really is the real Gary after all... maybe. Some twist is bound to happen...
Ray doesn't say anything. Lucy impatiently takes the binoculars away and looks herself. She asks Ray if he knows who it is. At first, he remains silent. Then he says he knows who it is. Lucy looks at him, takes another look at Gary. Realization dawns on her.
We get a great shot of Lucy running up a pathway towards the group.
Everyone turns around upon her arrival, and Lucy slows to a walk.
Gary knows her right away.
She knows him right away.
Aww, just as Gary called his own father "Daddy", so Lucy calls Gary "Daddy."
They don't hug, like I was expecting them to, although I suppose them just reaching out and holding hands is good enough, and realistic enough. Its a sobering moment for both of them, and a hug wouldn't necessarily be... well, necessary.
