Significant snow events. Heavy and prolonged snow events are, on average once every 20 years, there is a perception that the UK gets meaningful snow yearly, which is incorrect, that's why when we get snow events the country is ill prepared. Whole country grinds to a halt. There is no justification to spend beaucoup taxpayers money on snow ploughs et cetera that will sit around a depot but because they are HGV's, still subject to the six weekly safety inspection, that the taxpayer will cover. I'll spare everyone the whole misguided but widely traded guff about the "melting roads and rail tracks" Biggie out.
Is there an incorrect but widely believed "fact or bureaucratic protocol" that you can provide empirical data to disprove but people continue to propagate... much to your annoyance?
