I am going to skip the classical Christmas albums by Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis etc. They are just too good and in a league of their own. I can't even decide which one I like most. Probably A Jolly Christmas From Frank Sinatra? Or?

1. The Christmas In You - Jill Johnson

A little bit of country, but not too much. I get warm and fuzzy listening to this album.

2. Christmas Time Has Come - Weeping Willows

I love their retro style, and lead singer Magnus Carlson's voice. Again, that warm and fuzzy feeling.
I'm going to their Christmas concert tomorrow. I am so giddy -- I'm sitting on 1st row!

3. In Winter - Katie Melua

Some original songs, some covers. Very peaceful sound thanks to the added choir.

4. A Christmas Celebration - Celtic Woman

5. Kylie Christmas - Kylie Minogue

I bought The Killers album last Christmas and because I had most of the singles from previous years I never really gave it any attention that was until this year where I’ve been totally consumed by it. I never thought I would listen to a Christmas album all the way through and again and again.

1. Don’t Waste Your Wishes – The Killers
2. The Christmas Album – Various Artists
3. Merry Christmas Johnny Mathis
4. Christmas - Michael Bublé
5. Holiday Wishes - Idina Menzel
6. Snow Globe – Erasure

I wonder, how do people listen to these albums?

Fun question. Let's see if I can answer some.

I have a Christmas playlist into which I bung every piece of music that I consider seasonal. Some are winter songs that don't reference Christmas. It's a hotchpotch of around 1000 classical, contemporary, vintage, soundtrack, instrumental, choral, cheesy, classy songs. Most (but not all) will be unticked until late November.

Around the beginning of December I create a Christmas Favourites playlist where the songs I'm feeling most that year will go. Usually between 75 and 100. This playlist will get daily shuffles (though not every song, of course). Many of these songs will also make it into my "standard" Favourites list.

The first ones to get ticked will be songs like Winter Wonderland that don't reference Christmas. Then more festive ones will get ticked during the first half of December.

My Christmas Favourites list is usually played intensely. I actively listen and sing along at times in the day where I would play music. Usually for showering/washing up/ironing/driving.

Some albums and alternative playlists will be played for certain activities. For example, Christmas morning and Christmas lunch will usually be more carols/classical/instrumental.

Wintry songs that don't reference Christmas (Let It Snow!/Baby It's Cold Outside/Winter Wonderland, etc.) will stay in rotation until perhaps February.

There are some songs that frequently appear on Christmas albums which I don't consider seasonal and so play year round. Most notably The Prayer which I play almost daily.

I wonder, how do people listen to these albums? Do you enjoy them immensely or is it just nice background music (doing something else at the same time)? Could you listen to these albums every time of the year?

I usually listen with my ears. :rlol: ,just kidding. ;)

But why I listen to these albums every year is because most Christmas albums are sung by my favorite artists, and that's why these Christmas albums can be called specal because you can only listen to them for a small part of the year. Some Christmas albums I just listen purely as background music and other Christmas albums there i have to take the volume button a little bit harder, and for me these music really put me in a Christmas mood, it's so diffrent then from any other ordinary album from an artist.

I hope I explained it a little bit @The Wise Willie From Oleson , And do you listen to any Christmas albums yourself?

And oh God :eck:, i forgot to put Kylie Minogue's Christmas album in my top 10 list, oh well maybe next year better. ;)

I'm not a fan of the classic Christmas carols, but I like some of the Christmas related pop songs (because they're 95% pop and 5% Christmas).
I could listen to this every day:

But I don't mind hearing original Christmas songs in the background, like in a shopping mall or something like that.

Christmas pop songs are also great to listen, but i do love the classic Chritmas carols a little bit more, but i guess there is enough diversity for everyone. ;)

Thanks Ome! I'm glad the Celine Christmas album won. It's a great one. :)

Oh I love me some MJ. I've got most of his albums on CD. But how to pick and rank his albums...

I'll have to give it some thought and get back to you on that one...

Oh and I guess we're talking about the solo artist Michael Jackson so no Jackson 5 or The Jackson's albums, right?
