She didn't want to go back. Considering what they put her through on the show, I don't blame her.
What did they do that was so bad?
This was a step UP from Dynasty?! Lol!

Torchlight was an enormous flop!!! They ran ads for it in rolling stone. It was supposed to be something that people went to see! It attracted nobody!! But why she didn’t return ASAP to dynasty when they wanted her is BIZARRE!!!

when they came up with Leslie someone in the top brass said that Leslie would be like PSM's Fallon, … wasn't Emma Samms supposed to be the Fallon at this point???
Here’s something from Pamela Sue Martin, extracts from her (unpublished?) autobiography The Spirit of the Matter, found in the chapter Last Chance:
- “Naturally, my quest for solitude did not find me on the party circuit very often. The main reason was because Hollywood parties simply made me nervous. I felt uncomfortable the minute I walked in the door. I spent some time contemplating this dilemma, and it wasn’t until years later, like so many discoveries I would make, I began to see that I was part of the problem.”
- "Since I am well past the adolescent paranoid stage and have enjoyed these last years hidden away, it might be fun to experience it once again from the other side, who knows? I think I’d be guaranteed a better night if I went bowling, though."

- "Excitement comes from within my being when I approach life with an open heart. A beautiful day, the breeze rustling the leaves, my dogs running down my driveway to greet me with boundless love get me excited. A good book can thrill me beyond any of the hundred DYNASTY scripts I used to read."
Yes, I'm sure that's the best way to (try to) create a hit-show: to give an actor you don't like the worst storylines possible (ahem). It was obvious in the way they wrote Fallon from The Colby's thru to season 8 that the Shapiro's and the Pollock's were resentful toward Emma Samms
My impression, based on the quotes posted by Zable, is that leaving Dynasty (or any kind of all-consuming TV work) was her priority. And not necessarily to become a big moviestar. My impression of PSM is that she any role she plays in has to be meaningful or worthwhile
Actually, I'm quite sure that's happened many times, no matter how much it may sound like bad business.Yes, I'm sure that's the best way to (try to) create a hit-show: to give an actor you don't like the worst storylines possible (ahem).
So...PSM would have returned if Paulsen had been green-lighted to fire ES?Besides, Aaron supposedly talked Paulsen out of firing Samms to bring back PSM for Season 9.
Paulsen himself has said that he had seen clips of Samms as Fallon and wasn't impressed and that he was aware that PSM was much preferred by fans. He had an idea to have season 8 end with Jeff getting into bed with Samms' Fallon and waking up in season 9 with PSM again. Then he actually met Samms and realised that she had a great personality that just wasn't coming across on Screen in Dynasty and The Colbys. So he had her Fallon written better.So...PSM would have returned if Paulsen had been green-lighted to fire ES?
And is this based on a credible source?
