I thought it worked because they didn't show the grave until after she went flying.
Yes, and it works because it's the kind of comedy I wouldn't expect to see on Dynasty (well, I had already seen it in the ep. preview).
Sure, OldDynasty had two mud fights (three, if you count the beauty parlour) but these were painfully lacklustre.

This was push! bam! scream!
And Fallon deserved it so I thought it was a very satisfying scene.

I think it's the first of NuDynasty's "classic moments".

Yes it was fun. I like the stance that took where the viewer was Fallon and totally unaware she was standing next to massive hole or she is so arrogant that she wouldn't expect anyone to shove her.

I also liked the continuity , she has to change her dress so chose the most inappropriate one.

:)

Quite right. While I have low expectations of nuDYNASTY (and it's meeting them, for the most part), it's absolutely true that oldDYNASTY's fights, all three of them, were mudus interruptus. In fact, after the art studio catfight (and even it was poorly edited) all the subsequent fights seemed forced... Indeed the original show had no sense of humor (after Season 2) and so we went from laughing with it to laughing at it -- and not in a good way.

The old show was too stiff, too controlled (in a bad way), too pretentious (in a bad way) and could never pull off humor even when they tried.

I've mentioned several times that I'd wanted to see Sable and Caress have a scene together where they drunkenly fell into Connie's grave (a la AB FAB). But oldDYNASTY, as it was, could never have pulled that off because of all the deep creative neuroses about.

nuDYNASTY lacks the same potential as the old show, but it also lacks the rigidity created by the original's show runners (and which arguably ruined it).

BTW, @Willie Oleson : there was the slide down the hill, the spa, the Olde Englishe Faiyyrrre, and the S9 mud trough with Fallon2 and Sammy Jo.

I have to disagree with that. The second fight was appropriate but the slow motion and orchestral score ruined it a bit.
the Olde Englishe Faiyyrrre
Did I forget or repress it?
There was supposed to be some suspense in this scene (Dana, Sean, Leslie) but the set (local-town-community-center-turned-into-musical-stage) didn't allow it.
It looked like daytime soap.

Yes, it made sense plotwise. But it was marred by the execution -- although not by the slomo or score, IMHO, but Alexis' and Krystle's bland verbal sparring before the lilies started flying.

What Alexis said to Krystle was horrible. But they kind of acted like it wasn't. Until they got wet.

Yep. So weak, that party.

I'm amazed this show is available to stream on Netflix.

That's probably improved it chances of not being cancelled massively.

If you have to know, it's earning money for the company already.

Of course it might still get cancelled but the media interest improves it's chances at not being. HMMMM!!!!

Yes, it was horrible. What each said before makes sense given each character's state of mind. Krystle just didn't want to deal with Alexis as she was rather depressed, and Alexis would not leave her alone until she'd get her beating because she thought she was losing Fallon because of her. But the direction wasn't able to capture that, and frankly neither did the two of them. The problem with a catfight is that often that means actresses and the team focus only on the catfight. But I did enjoy the lily pond fight, and especially Alexis walking away all disheveled limping with one shoe and all wet.

I would so love to see Dallas done as a reboot now.
What? The mere mention of a Dallas reboot will bring an avalanche of text angry soapchat posters. You're a braver soul than me. I'll sit over here :tv: and watch the entertainment

We all knew a major cliffhanger was inevitable but half the fun was the journey getting there.

Oh, so very much! It was the same with the best of the cliffhangers on O-R CBS Lorimar Dallas, especially the Who Shot J.R.? one-- J.R. had done so many bad things to so many people that someone had to do it to him, and do it she did ("she" because it was Kristin who did it; I hope I'm not ruining it in case someone else becomes a new fan of O-R Dallas).

Okay so I have now seen the first two episodes, and I have to admit I'm kinda sold on it now.

I like the mystery surrounding Krystle, Blake is probably an even bigger bastard than he was back in 1981, What with him practically pimping Steven out, giving Matthews jumper to Claudia right in front of Krystle knowing that it would upset her, and Fallon is perfect.

I enjoy all the nods to old Dynasty such as Sam Jo skinny dipping, Fallon eating the brides head.

I also like how some of the characters are composites of the original series, such as
Monique = Monica and Dominique,
Jeff = Jeff and Cecil etc.

Its not the most amazing soap in the world but it'll do for now :-D , roll.on ALEXIS!!!

Monique isn't really doing anything for me. She's just... there. Kinda how Dominique was which is fine, but she doesn't even have Dominique's how I got here story. So.....?

Why was Matthew's pullover hanging around in that Carrington toilet place?
How did Blake (or Joseph) know that it belonged to Matthew, if Cristal didn't tell them? And if she did, then what's all the fuzz about?
Just trying to make sense of it...

Yes, it's really strange with those nuColbys. Do they have a home? Do they have parents?
What do they do and where do they live apart from attending at weddings or partys?

It was at Cristal's apartment/house in a closet.

Huh? Then what was Joseph/Aynders doing there when she got out of the toilet with Matthews pullover, threatening Joseph with a spray?!
Nooo, it was clearly at Carringtons place, I just rewatched that scene again.
Wouldn't make sense otherwise anyway, because how would Blake have his hands on the pollover, if it was at Cristal's place ?!
But the main problem remains... how would Blake/Aynders know if Cristal didn't tell them? Mind reading???
Unless Blake and Aynders had an affair with Matthew as well and knew his body smell...

No it's Cristal's house. Joseph followed her there. It's the same place Bake turns up at and mentions buying her tons of flowers etc.

Then what was Aynders doing there? Because after Cristal smells Matthews shirt, she gets out of that room and puts some kind of spray to destract and Aynders is there.
