One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Jack Nicholson portrays Randle McMurphy, a criminal who is moved from prison to a mental institution. Only thing is he is not actually mentally ill. He thinks his time at the ward will be easy. But when he learns that he might be locked in there indefinately he tries to find a way out. The movie is directed by Milos Forman. It was filmed at an actual mental hospital. It won 5 Oscars The movie is an adaption from a novel by Dale Wasserman.

Jane Seymour plays a fabulous bitch in CROSSINGS (1986) but that's a mini-series, not a movie.
My top 3:
1. Secrets (1992) starring Stephanie Beacham as a bitchy soap opera actress.
2. Remembrance (1996) starring Angie Dickinson as the bitchy mother-in-law.
3. Vanished (1995) but I don't remember much of it.
I have read The Ring but haven't seen the movie.

I thought I hadn´t seen anyone but I do! Maybe because it was sort of a private sequel to "Charlie´s Angels"...
1- Family Album (1994) - Jaclyn fest, playing a female movie director in the golden days. Great supporting cast.
2- Kaleidoscope (1990) - Another Jaclyn TVM, now surrounded by Perry King and other talented stars. It was more an ensemble piece, filled with glamour.
3- Daddy (1991) - This time it´s Patrick Duffy the one suffering here, as a husband who divorces Garnet McGee and then marries Wonder Woman. His son is Ben Affleck, go figure!!
4- Crossings (1986) - Agree with the post above, it´s soapy glory. Seymour bitchy, Ladd pretty, and the rest of the cast is good too.
I have to watch "The Ring" one of these days, but I haven´t yet. That´s all. Anyway, I think that Steel and Sydney Sheldon are the only "trashy writers" that seem appealing to me (not mention the ones that don´t). The movies I have seen are quite worth watching and the production values are good, aside from the great casting.

You know for all of you who has never read any Danielle Steel book I can recommend you to read one named "His bright light". It is the story about her son Nick who was exceptionally gifted but also mentally ill. He commited suicide around the age of 19. That book is not her typical romance novel but an autobiographic book that is really well written and had me in tears when I read it many years ago.

I read my first Danielle Steel book when I was 14. Then for about 10 years she was my favorite author. So I must have read about 30 of her books.
I also watched several of her made for TV movies in the 1990s. So this is how I would rank them:
1. Message from Nam (1993)
About the Vietnam War.
2. No Greater Love (1995)
About Titanic disaster.
3. Daddy (1991)
With Patrick Duffy.
4. Zoya (1995)
With Melissa Gilbert.
5. Star (1993)
With Jennie Garth.
6. Family Album (1994)
