God, what a mess! I've always stuck to discussing the issues and candidates, and now every discussion I was involved in has been crammed together in an incoherent jumble.

I feel there could have been a better way to handle any personal disputes that were going on. It's pointless to discuss the election when the flow of discussion becomes impossible to follow.

I wasn't the one who was initially suspicious that you have multiple accounts nor the first to express that suspicion. And I'm certainly not the only skeptic here.

On the original Soap Chat board, I joined in April 2002, skipped a year and returned 2016. When the site crashed, I began as a new poster. Given all the years of posting (old and new), I've only used the "ignore" feature one time and that has been in the last couple of weeks. That's worked for me, and I do not intend to turn it off. So "ignored member", and you know who you are, your efforts are pointless. While it is always tempting to retort, things can and do escalate to unnecessary proportions, creating permanent hostility. I've had a good time debating with various members and @SueEllenRules! is no exception. We've debated on hot issue topics and have also engaged in joking, harmless banter. We couldn't be further apart in our politics, yet there's total respect on my behalf and I believe on his as well. I appreciate other points of view, there's always room to expand my horizons by listening to "the other side". For me, I encourage more indepth conversations as a way of better understanding, which is important to me, it does not necessarily change my opinions, but it does make me more tolerant to other points of view.

Combining 2 months worth of threads into one was supposedly necessary because "the Politics forum has been overtaken by threads on the subject of the 2016 U.S. election" and "it has stifled and buried discussion on other political topics." And yet, in the past 24 hours, there hasn't been one single new thread created or post made on an existing thread that's not related to U.S. politics. So where are these people who are allegedly being stifled? Also, that first statement implies that it's unusual that there would be a lot of interest in American politics just days before a presidential election. I don't understand why there's suddenly an issue with what topics are allowed to be discussed on the political forum.

Unfortunately, everyone's been put into timeout rather than just banning me, the Troublemaker.

Thank you @McGarrett, and I enjoy your contributions as well. I like both you and SER and actually everyone who comes here to post their views, and for me it was a hard choice to put a poster on "ignore", but I felt I needed to head off a smaller situation before it became a larger one.

Are you referring to @BD Calhoun, if you are that is formerly Sid Fairgate. It took me a while to recognize the fine print at the bottom of his posts. He's always been a favorite of mine as well, and like you, I wonder where Marky, Snarky (whatever his handle is) has gone, too. Something just feels upside down with him gone. He could really "light us up".

Anyway, I hope everyone stays a part of "our community" because as hostile as it can be at times, it's still a fun place to be.
