Regarding Liz's sons, Jake and Aiden are said to be "traveling" with Lucky. I think this might be an excuse to give the young men (I had to erase "boys") some edges when they return. Hopefully they have not adopted Lucky's laissez-faire attitude toward life (and hair-washing!). So much ink was spilled about how Danny had "inherited his father Jason's attraction to danger," but no one accused Jake of the same thing despite his also being Jason's son. It was a silly argument anyway, since Jason's attraction to danger was a result of a brain injury, not genetics. They always made it seem like Liz's boys were perfect little angels, so maybe some time off the canvas is in order.
Rocco's quasi-story about wanting to learn about his birth story was essentially a means to get Liesl back on the show. Which is fine, of course, but now it appears that Professor Dalton's story was also hijacked in service of the "bring Britt back" plot. I'm no fan of Daniel Goddard so having Dalton barely present for what was supposed to be a major plotline is no loss for me. It is funny to watch Goddard's 'big return to soaps' torpedoed in service of Kelly Thiebaud's.
Speaking of "birth stories," it occurs to me that almost all the kids in Rocco's circle of friends and family have similar histories, but you don't see or hear them getting all upset about it.
