I have recently went back to watching and I am now in the middle of Caroline's rape trial and it's been so good. I think the trail/courtroom scenes are brilliant, and I am shocked at how graphic the descriptions of the rape were when Caroline had to give testimony. For a daytime US show in the '80s it's quite shocking to me. Though it's excellently done.
I am also enjoying Stephanie and Kristen's weird dynamic which is now being explored a bit more. Stephanie's jealousy over Kristen's relationship with her father is bizarre and also quite dark. She seems a bit obsessed by it and it's really nothing. Stephanie has now engaged a guy Clark Garrison to seemingly distract Kristen and get involved with her romantically. At the same time Stephanie thinks that Eric is having an affair, potentially with Brooke after seeing her in his office, little does she know there is actually something brewing between Eric and Beth, Brooke's mother, whom he dated in college. Stephanie also thinks Eric is banging Margot his assistant designer, which he isn't. Maybe Stephanie is the problem.
I think what
@kenneth was saying about the look of the show is right. The sets in the earlier years look bigger. The Forrester mansion in the recent years appears smaller and truncated. We never or rarely see the breakfast table/dinning area of the main living room. It's used often in the beginning. It seems like the sets are smaller now, and there are obviously sets we just don't see anymore. It doesn't feel claustrophobic in these early episodes as the sets are much larger. And they are dressed and lit gorgeously in that very glam '80s way.
I think I just had the first mentioning of Spectra Fashions too, Clark Garrison is a designer who does knock offs for Spectra. I have no idea when Sally will actually show up, but I don't think it's for a good while yet.
During Caroline's trial, I believe we are seeing the wheels turn in Brooke's head regarding Ridge. She's shifting from just being Caroline's friend to being interested in Ridge. And Thorn and Brooke seem to both be teaming up so that Brooke can set her sights on Ridge, and Thorn can propose to Caroline.
Just as I am posting this, Dora Mae from Dallas is the judge that has just found Caroline's rapist Ron Deacon guilty.
