One thing I'll say is having recently binged what is available for Y&R around the same time period, this is much better. It's crazy because this is the time period where Y&R went to #1, but it had a lot of filler.
1987/1988 season Y&R tied with General Hospital for #1 and took sole ownership of #1 in the 1988/1989 season.
Late 1980s Y&R can be summed up by one character: Cricket.
There was a writer's strike in 1988 so alot of the storylines feel off track.

Well, I have had a lot happen in the last year and I fell out of everything for a long, long while. I have only just recently got my house back to normal, and have been getting back into watching stuff. Tonight I decided to go back to The Bold and The Beautiful. This time I am going to be watching on my big TV instead of on a laptop like before. I am hoping that I can get into a routine of watching a few episodes daily/nightly. It's much more enjoyable to watch it on a large screen and the quality looks a whole lot better than it did on a laptop.

I decided to skip ahead to episode 90, as I have done these episodes a few times before. This brings me right up the aftermath of Caroline's rape storyline. I am hoping to get through a lot of episodes quite quickly. As they are only 22 minutes or so, I can do a weeks episodes in a couple of hours. I will hopefully be a little more active on here, and in this thread in particular. I am guessing most people who have also been watching are miles ahead of me now, but I am not that worried about potential spoilers unless it's something really juicy.

Anyone still watching the YouTube channel? 1987-1991 are complete, 1992 is almost complete, then there's a gap until I think late 1996.

Yes, still watching; and still enjoying it too! I would bet it’s safe to say that I am addicted to these classic episodes. As a fan that didn’t start watching til the early 90s, being able to go back and see the show from the very beginning has been a lot of fun.

I starting watching from the beginning and at first I loved the character of Caroline now that I am in the 3rd season I can’t stand her. She married Thorne and now that Brooke is with Ridge and pregnant she is doing everything in her power to break them up. She should not of married Thorne if she didn’t love him. She is constantly throwing herself at Ridge. Constantly lurking and waiting for a moment with Ridge to knock down Brooke and and confess her love for Ridge. Reminds me of how Steffy chased Liam when he was first engaged to Hope. I think Caroline is a spoiled rich brat that thinks she is better than Brooke. Love these old episodes but can’t stand Caroline.

Caroline could be a very complex character at times, as were most of them in the beginning it’s fair to say. Personally I loved her but you do make some valid points. I don’t want to spoil anything as I’m not sure how much you’ve seen of the show but I have a feeling you might start liking Caroline again at some point.

I’m at the point where Ridge left for Europe and will make a decision about who he wants to be with when he returns. I know he chooses Caroline and she dies a few months after they are married. I hope you are right and I start liking her again.

I am enjoying these old episodes. I just started watching in 2009 so
I didn’t know the history of some of these characters. The old episodes are so much more interesting than todays shows.

I started watching in the early 90s so when they released the early episodes I got hooked. It was so much fun to see how it all started. It definitely made me dislike the current show more though. I feel bad about that but there’s really no comparison. I’ll take these classic episodes any day.

I was reading an interview with Lauren Koslow and she was asked if she was still in touch with anyone at B&B. Her response:

"Jim Storm, who played my husband. In fact, he was at my daughter's wedding in Sicily last fall. I've also reconnected with Dan McVicar."

Nice to see that Margo and Bill are still close. Two of my favorite characters from the original cast. Sadly the show just wasn’t the same without them.

Last night I was watching Young Sheldon - in case you don't know the comedy, it's set in the early 90's in season 5. In the penultimate episode of the season, Sheldon's pious mother is smoking and watching The Bold and the Beautiful. Viewers recognize a scene where Caroline begs Ridge, "Just leave. Now." Mary, Sheldon's mother responds: "None of them will go to heaven, definitely not."

I’m in season 8 now and I notice they’ve stopped uploading three episodes a day and are only giving us one. I really hope this doesn’t continue cause I thought the whole point was so we can watch these episodes quickly and run through the entire show.

I hope this changes as I’m starting to have some withdrawals over it. I need my classic B&B!!! Dishes thrown, glass breaking, loud screaming, I’m doing everything I can to cope.

I need my daily doses of Tridge, Bridge, Eric, Stephanie, Sheila, Sally, etc, but I don’t miss Thorne and Macy that much.

What I find interesting so far is Joanna Johnson has worn four wedding dresses since 1987 up to this point but has only been married twice. Such a waste of money and fabric for a show about fashion!!

I have recently went back to watching and I am now in the middle of Caroline's rape trial and it's been so good. I think the trail/courtroom scenes are brilliant, and I am shocked at how graphic the descriptions of the rape were when Caroline had to give testimony. For a daytime US show in the '80s it's quite shocking to me. Though it's excellently done.

I am also enjoying Stephanie and Kristen's weird dynamic which is now being explored a bit more. Stephanie's jealousy over Kristen's relationship with her father is bizarre and also quite dark. She seems a bit obsessed by it and it's really nothing. Stephanie has now engaged a guy Clark Garrison to seemingly distract Kristen and get involved with her romantically. At the same time Stephanie thinks that Eric is having an affair, potentially with Brooke after seeing her in his office, little does she know there is actually something brewing between Eric and Beth, Brooke's mother, whom he dated in college. Stephanie also thinks Eric is banging Margot his assistant designer, which he isn't. Maybe Stephanie is the problem.

I think what @kenneth was saying about the look of the show is right. The sets in the earlier years look bigger. The Forrester mansion in the recent years appears smaller and truncated. We never or rarely see the breakfast table/dinning area of the main living room. It's used often in the beginning. It seems like the sets are smaller now, and there are obviously sets we just don't see anymore. It doesn't feel claustrophobic in these early episodes as the sets are much larger. And they are dressed and lit gorgeously in that very glam '80s way.

I think I just had the first mentioning of Spectra Fashions too, Clark Garrison is a designer who does knock offs for Spectra. I have no idea when Sally will actually show up, but I don't think it's for a good while yet.

During Caroline's trial, I believe we are seeing the wheels turn in Brooke's head regarding Ridge. She's shifting from just being Caroline's friend to being interested in Ridge. And Thorn and Brooke seem to both be teaming up so that Brooke can set her sights on Ridge, and Thorn can propose to Caroline.

Just as I am posting this, Dora Mae from Dallas is the judge that has just found Caroline's rapist Ron Deacon guilty.

And to think she started off as a hooker on Flamingo Road. That woman can do anything.
