What Would the Last Scene

And then there's Dusty not being Clayton's biological son, as they are uncle-nephew biologically. I mean, how many more such cases can there be in Dallas with a different legal parent(s) compared to a biological parent(s), with Dusty, Pam, Christopher and Charlie? J.R. too? No way.

Edit: I forgot Ray, too.

I hated Dusty not being Clayton's son too! It's like they run out of ideas, so they have to mess up the original storylines!!!!:bang:
I liked Ray being Jock's biological son though, even if I hated the thought of him betraying Miss Ellie...

Final shot as such should have reflected the very first - Bobby & Pam driving, but away from Dallas rather than towards it.

Why have they left Dallas - because Ellie has returned & died - it's the end of an era.

J.R ends up with control of Weststar stock & is victorious - J.R should never have been allowed to sink as low as he did.

It'd be too 'unsettling' and weird after JR spent 12 seasons doing everything for Ewing Oil, his daddy & his legacy.
Perhaps, however it would go some way to explain JR's spiral into depression. If this story had been infused with Lorimar Dallas it would better explain his intentions of selling his share in Ewing Oil to Cliff so JR can obtain the Chairman position at Weststar. When Carter McKay visits JR and is informed McKay is now majority shareholder of Weststar, thanks in part to Dusty Farlow, JR realizes he has lost it all. In the episode "The Decline and Fall of the Ewing Empire" we're left with the scene of JR lying on his bed with Jock's handgun.

Freeze Frame.
Cue end credits.

Ending the series there would have left us with all kind of emotions. Some may have felt sympathy for JR., maybe justification for all the dirty schemes and heartbreak he wrecked on others. I would have been quite satisfied with the series ending there rather than the nonsense that followed a week later with "Conundrum". When I think about it, "Conundrum" weakened the previous weeks episode and overall left a bitter taste to what was considered must watch television.

Interesting you brought that up, Rove.

This happened in real life here in Texas. A few years ago, there were many comparisons between J.R. Ewing and the real life Ken Lay of Enron.

**Grabs markers and white board**

Ken Lay became head of Enron, a big oil company in Texas.
(Note here already-- Enron, Ewing. Even the names are halfway similar)

Enron becomes huge, wanting to use their oil profits to move into even bigger and better things.

Enron buys properties in Las Vegas, secretly buying up fiber optic lines in back room, secret deals, hoping to purchase enough lines to own the entire internet.

Yes, you read that correctly. They wanted to own the entire internet. This is real life we are talking about and they almost did it. J.R. would have been proud.

Now we start to see "The fall of the house of Enron". All of these deals look great on paper, but the company is losing billions.

Ken Lay, in the image of J.R Ewing, makes all kinds of shady deals RIGHT UNDER THE NOSES OF THE REGULATORS who don't catch on. Here's an example: Ewing Oil, (Sorry, I mean Enron) buys an oil well for 5 million dollars. That well is expected to produce 30 million dollars of oil in the next ten years. So they claim the $ 30 million in future oil THAT DAY. They spend $ 5 million but show a profit of $25 million. Then they hand that $25 million dollars to themselves as bonuses, even though the well hasn't pumped a single drop of oil yet.

The government and auditors finally catch on to the magnificant bastard. The 20,000 Ewing (I mean Enron) employees try to sell their stock in the company, as that is their retirement.

Ken Lay, in a very J.R-like fashion, locks the employees out of being able to sell their Enron stock while it still has value.

He then sells his own stock for $ 300,000,000. Yes, you read that correctly. Three hundred million dollars. To one man. In one day.

The entire empire then collapses, and the employees are left bankrupt.

The United States Government goes after Ken Lay, trying to put him in prison for his fraud and get the $ 300,000,000 back and give it to the bankrupt employees.

Just before the trial, Ken Lay dies of a heart attack, and the whole thing just fizzles out, much like the show DALLAS.

And as ROVE stated above, some people start to feel sorry for Ken Lay, just as some felt sorry for J.R. in Conundrum. Ken's lawyers explain that since his wealth is tied up in selling his Enron stock, if the government takes that back then Ken's estate is worthless.

But here is where it gets interesting:

From beyond the grave, Ken Lay is able to manipulate the $ 300,000,000 (much like Jock is able, from beyond the grave, to set up the competition for Ewing Oil between J.R. and Bobby). Ken's lawyer goes to court and lays out his plan. "Since Ken is dead now anyway, let's just vacate his prison sentence and declare him not guilty. "

The courts go along with this! And that means the $ 300,000,000 is off limits to the government and to the Enron employees who are now bankrupt. The Magnificant Bastard himself is the only other one who could have pulled that off.

Now, here is where it gets really crazy. And remember that this really happend in real life:

There is a theory floating around that Ken Lay faked his own death so that his lawyer could go to court and end the entire trial. And now Pam (I mean Ken Lay) is alive and well and spending his time in vacation spots around the world.

Living here in the middle of all of it, we had a lot of fun comparing Enron to Ewing oil. It was almost as big of a deal around here as the "Who Shot J.R." events.

Since i dont want TNT crap Dallas to exist and Conundrum would be the final ever episode

Miss Ellie and Clayton return from their world wide cruise as she is ill

on her death bed, the family are called round and she reveals that Digger is the real father of JR and he and Cliff are half brothers

just to see the look of horror, shock and disbelief on JRs face that he aint Jock Ewings boy after all!

freeze frame

The END OF DALLAS EVER
no dire movies or worse stll CC i havent a clue nonsense
But that would just probably lead JR to pointing a gun at himself AGAIN. Basically, JR is in despair and possibly suicidal in this ending, too. On or off camera. I fail to see any real difference to the very end of the show here.

Yes, it would, in a way, 'ruin' the Miss Ellie character. Besides, I just can't picture JR and Cliff as related in any way... I just can't!o_O
Yeah, and if that was true, then how does it explain that John Ross does not have neurofibromatosis?

Conundrum was just so poor!

I would have Miss Ellie and Clayton visiting and having another "Barbecue" and Ellie wants to sell Southfork! That's how it should have ended! She has one last BBQ there and a lot of drama happens! Returns of Sue Ellen and Ray and Lucy and others! Lots of threats at JR in the episode! Cliff and JR fight over Ewing Oil and it's all Cliff's now! Maybe JR and Cliff have a struggle and they both fight and fall from the balcony at Southfork but not into the pool and on the pavement! Cliff is paralyzed and may never walk again yet will start therapy soon for it and is in a wheelchair and vows revenge on JR and JR makes out okay and buys back his company! Ellie still sells Southfork and JR is happy he's back at Ewing Oil! Then someone at night shoots JR at his desk! The End!

I'd have Dallas end on DVD season thirteen with JR being manhandled back to his room at the funny farm after James tore up his release papers!

That would've been a good place to end the show, much better than Conundrum & that final series. :)
