I finally bought Anne Murray's new cd "Here You Are" with 11 unreleased songs that she recorded between 1978 and 1995, but most songs are from her 1979 album "A New Kind Of Feeling" recording sessions.

Last week i also bought Sheena Easton's second cd-boxset "The Complete EMI recordings Vol. 2".
This boxset also contains many bonus-tracks, B-sides and 12-inch remixes, and it also included a dvd with almost all her video-clips from 1981-1987. and her unreleased 1986 studio album "Shockwave" now for the first time released with this boxset.

I'm very curious about this one. I've been heavily-playing Anne's greatest hits album of late, and I've also invested in another, more expansive, compilation as well as a few of her Christmas albums.

She was in fine voice in 1979 so Here You Are is certainly on my radar, along with a number of other of her studio albums. Sadly they're quite expensive to import. It's difficult to justify over £20 for an eleven track album.

You certainly won't be disappointed with this CD, all the songs are very beautiful and especially Anne's singing voice at its peak years, her version of "Straight From the Heart" a cover of Bryan Adams, it will surely appeal to you, and I think Anne's version is even better than the cover Bonnie Tyler did from this song.

That's right, unfortunately this CD is quite expensive due to the high import duties. I waited until I could find a cheaper website, but I wasn't successful. Almost everyone asks between 24 and 30 euros, so I unfortunately had to pay around 25 euros, but I am glad I did. Who knows, it might become a bit cheaper later. But I'm always afraid that it won't be available later and that I'll regret not buying it back then

Oh - I hadn't realised it was that song. It would certainly be interesting to hear Anne's version.

You're probably sensible to do so, and I'm glad that it was worth the investment for you.

With the latest Anne Murray compilation I bought very recently and the Christmas albums I've got quite a lot of new (to me) material of hers to explore at the moment, so I'll take the risk and wait a while before buying the new one.

I think you really gonne love this version from Anne, and if i ever going to make my own compilation cd from Anne Murray this song will be sure on the tracklist. ;)

Yes i'm glad i pulled the tricker to buy it, it was already hard to find a copy here in the Netherlands.

I can understand that you wanne hear the unknown songs first before you going tp buy any other cd's from Anne Murray. I still wanne buy her 1981 Christmas album on cd but it so hard to get so i think i'll stick to my double cd Christmas album from Anne. ;)

(Now & Forever is the enoooooormous longbox version, but I couldn't find a clear image of that one).
I have the same 3-disc "Now & Forever" from Anne Murray but my copy has the standard 3-disc with jewelcase instead of the long enooooormous boxset you have.

Wow those albums are looking very nice from Frank Sinatra, i only have a best of compilation from Frank Sinatra.

I was really lucky with a bid and got it for a great price. I was absolutely thrilled as it's been on my album wishlist for a very long time.

Now I have it, it's everything I'd hoped for and is one of their best-sounding compilations to my ears (mastered by ABBA's long-term sound engineer Michael B. Tretow). It's very comprehensive, as well. I was far too excited about having the live version of Me And I.

I hope you manage to track down a copy soon and tick off another item from your wishlist.

In some ways I'd have rathered have the standard case edition for storage. When boxsets get as huge as this one you can run out of space very quickly. It was much bigger than expected. I'd thought it was going to be around the same size as Thank You For The Music or Barry Manilow's Complete Collection... And Then Some. Instead it's as big as the Star Wars Soundtrack Anthology.

The very large and thick booklet is great though. I had it on the dining table last week and someone walked into the room and looked at me funny because they mistook Anne for Princess Diana.

^ This isn't my actual copy, by the way. I found this picture online.

You must have been very happy to bid for the price you got this boxset, and yes i already heard the sound quality is great on this set.

Well next saturday there will be a cd and a record fair again so maybe i'll find a still in sealed copy and if the price is right i'll take it home with me this time.

Wow this boxset looks great but your right they are hard to put them next with your other cd's in the cabnet, i'll always display my larger boxsets like books above my cd cabnet so that the are still being seen with my other cd's.

Hihi that's a funny story when you put the boxset on the table and someone thought it would be Princess Diana, i had some ki d of a similair story, whwn played Anne's music a friend of mine said i never heard this Carpenter song before, and he looked strange when i said well she maybe sounds like Karen Carpenter but this is the Canadian country-pop singer Anne Murray.

Oh nice. Even if you don't find that set, I'm sure there'll be some lovely new additions to post about in this thread. I'm excited to see what you end up getting.

They do have a similar timbre to their voices, don't they? I like the things that distinguish them, though.

I wonder what your friend would say if he heard both their versions of I Just Fall In Love Again back to back. Despite their similar ranges, the very different arrangements and delivery are a nice example of what makes each unique: Karen pairs her crystal clarity with her trademark laid back, drowsy, comforting delivery, while Anne has a more full-voiced sound, with plenty of grit in there which I can't get enough of hearing.

Smells like "quasi-accidentally leaving the glossy travel brochure on the kitchen table".

It would be nice if I'd had time to practice my "surprised-but-sincere" reaction to its discovery like Meryl greeting Goldie in her dressing room in Death Becomes Her.

Sadly, in reality, I was in that mad vortex of importing the discs to my laptops so I could put them away.
