So GH has recast the role of Finn and Chase's father, who was previously played by James Read. They snagged Gregory Harrison for the role, which surprised me until I remembered they already had Greg Evigan on the show for a role last year. Obviously someone in the casting department has a thing for well-kept 1970s/1980s heartthrobs.

I remembered that James Read was cast in that role previously and wondered about the recast, I missed those episodes, I don't know if I was sick that week, or they coincided with summer vacation one year

He was on briefly, on two separate occasions--probably a week or two each time, with the two appearances happening months apart. I think the first time was just to establish the prickly relationship Finn had with both his father and Chase (and why). They also had him visit Finn "professionally"--Gregory had some mysterious symptoms that Finn eventually diagnosed as the after-effects of a bout with Lyme Disease. I think both visits were to give Easton something to do while Finola Hughes was on one of her vacations.

I k know that Covid has obviously impacted what kind of story we can see onscreen, but most of the current stories seem kind of tepid, like they are trying to figure out how to actually tie loose ends together

Every soap I've sampled (all but Days) has that same tentative, not-quite-sure feeling...but GH is doing the best job of staging the show as if the scenes were pre-Covid. There isn't intimate contact, but the distance between the actors isn't so blatant (like it is at Y&R) nor is there the static staging of B&B. I recently watched Dina's death scenes on Y&R and the entire thing was upstaged by Covid rules. The family matriarch was dying, and the family members were scattered around the living room watching her die from a distance. Nobody held her hand, no one comforted her or fellow family members. I feared Dina would slump over and fall out of the chair she was sitting in....but if she had, the Abbotts probably would have continued to stand there staring at her as if she had some contagious disease (she had Alzheimer's).

In comparison, while watching GH I keep forgetting all the hoops they're having to jump through, which is nice. The stories might be in a lull simply because they're building up to Sweeps.

Sam (and everyone else) seems to have forgotten that Finn is Alexis's AA sponsor. Having KM and ME once again pushed together for plot purposes would possibly make her watchable again.

I saw it suggested elsewhere that it would be hysterical if drunk Alexis were to crash Molly and TJ's "civil union" appointment at the court house and blab to one and all about Molly's one-night stand with Brando. For once, Kristina would know what it's like to NOT be the biggest screw-up in the family.

Plus, the idea of a "civil union" sounds so un-romantic and clinical that I can't imagine soap producers managing to make it on par with a soap wedding. I'm not even sure what a civil union entails, other than signing paperwork. Does the ersatz-bride toss the ball-point pen rather than a bouquet?

So yeah, they would need some sort of "floor show" to make it worth filming, and I'm sure Drunk Alexis busting her uptight daughter for being a 'ho would make it a great Friday episode.

I have no super-secret info on this. In my gut, however, I imagine Roger Howarth must be incredibly bored with Franco these days. He is not an actor I imagine would enjoy playing a supporting character.

The writers don't seem to know what they want to do with Julian, so if DeVry got a pink slip I would imagine it would be story-dictated (or lack-of-story dictated) rather than financial. I can't imagine Emme Rylan being written out due to lack of story or due to bad financials. She's in the middle of two building stories (Dante's return and the umbrella story with Cyrus) and provides a lot of talk-to scenes for Genie Francis (soon to return, BTW). Rylan's always given the impression of being a favorite of the producers, but that might just be my impression and not real. Whatever the case, I would put more money on DeVry leaving than the others, and Rylan the least of the three.

They say she's a waitress at Julian' bar, but since she's rarely there when a lot of the action goes down, why not place Kristina into the same realm as the other off-screen kids by putting her in charge of them?

I think Felicia is on permanent James- watch, and Gregory Harrison has definitely aged too well to be Michael Easton's father
