Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

Here are 2 consecutive end credits from the Season 12 closing titles. You can see one of the "Co-Producer" credits uses a more compressed font than the other and in point of fact they are technically 2 different fonts. The differences are subtle but they seem pretty obvious when the 2 credits display one after the other on the closing credits.

I'll leave it to you to decide how noticeable you think it is.

OK ... top is new version with incorrect "Lorimar-Telepictures", btm is old version for Season 12 opening titles - just noticed they haven't even centred the new version!!

Thanks.
Readability is better, it is unpleasant that the text is changed and contains errors.

This is a venial sin. Absolved!

Font changes to a narrower width between Ken Kercheval and Charlene Tilton credit ... this is definitely 2 different font sets View attachment 44282 View attachment 44283
I have no difficulty accepting the different width of the text. Instead, it appears excessively evident the shading in the names of the actors, compared to the original. However, this is an improvement in readability, as well as the HD remastering of the images for the entire saga.

In the original run the font was not consistant anyway. Noone ever had as big as a surname as Susan HOWARD. Her surname was the biggest as a font ever got, and a huge difference to all other credits, it stood out like a sore thumb.

Could you post the altered frame? This alone would be enough for me, although it would be appropriate to compare with the original one.

Thanks

Here they are in order, season 11, 12 and 13 just as the camera begins the approach to Southfork, it may not be immediately noticeable but there is a slight difference in the fonts as well as the font size of the Created By David Jacobs credit. I have tried to get the same orientation of Southfork ranch in all three screen shots.

Here's the season thirteen Executive Producer credit.

Moved from the cliffhanger freeze frame to the last credit on the main title sequence before the fade out from the ranch.

I wonder has this been retained on the new remastered sequence for season thirteen? :)

Finally here's the Created By and Supervising Producer credits from the final season.

The LORIMAR credit is now standing out more than DALLAS ... which is dumb!

Yes it has but redone with new typography approximating the original font (same font used for Charlene Tilton credit shown previously - all the season 13 opening titles now use this font set - which begs the question of why they couldn't have done that (ie used the same set) for all the season 12 titles

Say what?! Her credit was never in a bigger point size than anyone else's.

man, if I were David Jacobs I’d be hoping for my name to get smaller and smaller as the seasons get dumber and dumber!

My personal preference would have been if Warner Bros hired someone like David Paulsen to have access and view all the original footage and incorporate deleted scenes.
I suppose I could be accused of hypocrisy here but restoration of scenes censored before broadcast, and even inserting other deleted scenes, would be something I'd support.

Meanwhile in the beautifully HD restored episodes of Dallas
Thank you Garry. One of my favourite all time scenes from Dallas is watching the hospital scene. The clever shot showing us Katherine's perspective although we weren't aware of it at this point. The music really fits the tone here all the way until Katherine squirts the syringe and she is finally revealed. Dallas really was on top of its game. Perfection.

Warner Bros. Giddy up and release Dallas on Blu-Ray.

I think most people don't watch every intro when they binge watch.
Seldom do I watch intro's when binge watching unless it's Star Wars, A New Hope. That music hits me every time.

Meanwhile in the beautifully HD restored episodes of Dallas (Which many people thought would never happen) Katherine Wentworth tries to kill Bobby Ewing again...

Thank you very much Gary, for one of the gems of the cliffhanger saga. If at First You Don't Succeed, is carried, as much by the incredible playing of Morgan Brittany as by the sumptuous score of Richard Lewis Warren. What a joy to be able to enjoy it in HD. Thank you from the heart.

Are you sure? Well take a look at this original title sequence then from the original Lorimar run.

Note how big her credit is in relation to the others.

That does look bigger ... weird. I don't ever remember seeing that on the titles. Wonder if it varies from the PAL print to the NTSC print.
