Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

It's like that on the official Dallas season 6 DVD boxset and also the Dallas Complete DVD Collection set.

So I'm assuming they're from the original Lorimar master prints. :)
There are variant prints though.
For example when Season 8 aired here in Australia on network TV it had a different image of Donna Reed in the middle of the 3 way split titles from the version that was shown later on Pay TV.
And the versions of Knots Landing which aired here on network TV used a different font for Seasons 12 and 13 credits for episode title, writer, director etc than the font used in prints I've seen online.
I gather there is a syndication version and a network version of the episodes and there are differences between them.

God I feel like I'm drowning in minutiae ... or is it trivia?!!! As a dear late friend of mine used to say, "Imagine what we could think of if our minds weren't full of all this shit", and he had a point!!

That does look bigger ... weird. I don't ever remember seeing that on the titles. Wonder if it varies from the PAL print to the NTSC print.
Why would a transfer to another TV norm alter the titles? That's nonsense.
Your memory is indeed questionable, because if you ever watched the Dallas middle years you saw Howards huge title-font dozends of times.

So next time when you just say "no, it wasn't like that" ... better check before instead of trusting your obviously fading memories.

Speaking of which, why did Susan Howard have such large billing for her name in her earliest seasons?

I'd love that too although the cut scene from season nine, the original cliffhanger of Ben Stivers revealing to Miss Ellie that he's Jock shouldn't be reinstated.

That should be an easter egg because it's one deleted scene I'd really love to see. :)
Oh, yes, I agree. I was thinking of additional scenes without changing anything that was already there.

Pam and Sue Ellen fall out in HD.
Wow...wow...WOW! Another gem. Thank you Garry. This scene works so beautifully because of the history between Sue Ellen, Pam and Cliff, going all the way back to the hostility Sue Ellen displayed towards that Barnes woman to Sue Ellen's romantic entanglement with Cliff. The HD restoration really brings out the nuances in the actresses here. Both Linda and Victoria are speaking with their eyes.

10/10

Jock Ewing is alive!

He certainly is!

Steve Forrest gives a wonderful performance as the Ewing Patriarch returned from the dead.

Heck, he even recognises JR. Wyatt Haines couldn't have done that.

I can almost hear the late great Jim Davis through Steve's great performance.

Kudos to Steve Forrest for absolutely nailing the role. :)

I've been gone so long you boys have forgotten something about me!
Jock Ewing can't be scared off and can't be bought off, now like it or not JR your Daddy's back to stay!

there’s living and then there’s “I didn’t feel like going to work today so I’m out in the backyard of my mansion casually watering plants by the pool in my bathing suit and cape and giant headband in the beautiful sunshine” living!
I'm in two minds about this. It's amusing to watch Pam water the plants when she could have staff to perform this task but then it reminds me how independent Pam was.

Side note. Victoria was/is beautiful.

I take issue with the caption on that video.
Discovering that there was someone else on the helicopter was enough for Bobby to justify what he already believed, but it was far from definitive.

Yeah because all Bobby has is hearsay. It's not what I would call proof that Wes Parmalee wasn't Jock Ewing but some guy called Wyatt Haines simply because he was told this guy was on Jock's chopper. And even if Haines was on the chopper the fact that Jock's X rays and bullet wound matched Parmalee's X rays speaks volumes because it's impossible for two different men to have similar or identical X rays.

Wes Parmalee had to have been Jock Ewing all along. :)

Who was Wes Parmalee...

Who was Wes Parmalee...

Thank you very much Garry for these new scenes!! Will we have the joy of seeing one of my favorite naughty girls in HD, namely the huge Alexis Smith as Lady Jessica Montford?? Also do we still have no news regarding the release of the box set on blu-ray, I had hoped that with the 45th anniversary of the series and the 100th anniversary of Warner Bros we would have a date scheduled? ?

OK, Wes was most definitely Jock - there is no skirting around it.

Case against him is - Jock told his tales and life story while delirious and ill after the helicopter crash.

Case for him - Wes knew people on sight - friends and family...he knew who absolutely everyone was and they're histories, stories and past conversations. He had exactly the same medical history as Jock - x-rays showed same history too. He was a determined man, he fought his corner like Jock would have done.

Wes was Jock - any other explanation is as ridiculous as a long bad dream.

Great shot of stage 1 on West Olive!

Glad WB is honoring the legacy of "Dallas" although, historically, it's questionable that they are selling "inherited" third-party products to today's audience as part of their own studio history.
Okay, I'm turning a blind eye on Lorimar's products since Lorimar has a close connection to WB — Lorimar was mainly stationed on the WB / TBS lot in its early days, and they produced a number of shows on the WB / TBS backlot and its soundstages, such as "The Waltons", "Falcon Crest" and "Flamingo Road", just to name the most famous examples; also, Lorimar was fully absorbed into WB after the 1989 merger.

But what's really ridiculous is that one of the "WB 100" promo trailers I recently saw clearly included clips from MGM movies. I do know that WB purchased the rights to the pre-1986 MGM film library in one of MGM's many declarations of bankruptcy (at the same time when Lorimar bought MGM Studios), but presenting MGM movies as part of WB's studio history is an awkward understanding of Hollywood history. Or have such promos been created by negligent and unknowledgeable employees?
