Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

It was actually a budget thing, as it was with BBG, Charlene and Steve. Victoria left of her own accord (because they wouldn't concede to her requests) and Katzman wanted Susan gone.

I think the silly indie movie plot could've worked if they'd executed it better.
You say it was a budget thing but Larry's book states he begged her not to go over a number of dinner parties after she was fed up being portrayed as a beleaguered woman by Katzman and he wasn't going to change. Larry writes he would've used every bit of clout he had if she wanted to stay.

Linda's own book says her character had come to the end. In Dallas the complete story, it states Linda doesn't know why Katzman acted surprised when she was going as he hadn't offered her to renew her contract.
Who knows? It's no secret Linda wasn't fond of Katzman so after he finally allowed her to direct I gather she knew it was soon time to go.

The public story is almost always that the actor wanted to leave, unless there's acrimony in the parting.

I see someone has started a speculation thread about whether or not CBS will release the HD versions of Dallas on Blu-ray.

@Garry has already confirmed to us that a Blu-ray release is on the horizon, it's just a question of when.

I think it'll be released on Blu-ray in time for Christmas this year. :)

And if and when DALLAS is released on blu-ray it won't be released by CBS. They only broadcast the show. Warner Bros. owns the show. It will be Warner Bros releasing the show.

I stand corrected.

Actually I'm sitting down (a bit drunk because of the Gin, it is a Sunday though!) but I will endeavour to acknowledge that you are quite correct that Warner's will release the series on Blu-ray since they bought Lorimar Television many years ago. :)

Dear elderly Dallas fans,

try to read the business page in your newspaper if you don't understand the news on television clear enough:

Warner Bros. has no more money to waste. Zero chance for Dallas on BR!

Thank our TV gods at Warner for restoring Dallas to HD. Because that's all what's possible now and that was ordered before Evil Zazlow's crap hell, Discovery, took over Warner. Add to that the other reasons given in this thread why it would've been unlikely before.

@Luke_Krebbs_Ewing : please stay out of the sun and drink water.

WATER! NO ALCOHOL. Oh... Just as it is too late for Dallas on BR. Ask the younger ones in your family to download from your Amazon Prime account and to burn it on BR for you.

It could be a nice Christmas present for @Luke_Krebbs_Ewing and I'm sure many others.

Sincerely,

This is unnecessarily alarmist, to say the least. Warners are still releasing physical media, especially but not exclusively through their Warner Archive Collection banner.

The chances of DALLAS being released as a physical blu ray complete series boxed set is better than most on here are assuming.

They are celebrating WB100 - the studio's 100th anniversary with a slew of releases commemorating it. DALLAS is part of that.

Right now yes. But in 2021 it was already speculated Warner would "phase" out DVD and BR releases (and that was before the merger with Discovery). WB's 100th anniversary doesn't change that, there is nothing they celebrate in this year except a few releases (there is actually more they want to forget as their recent Flash flop). Publishing Dallas on BR is a risk. And after what just happened to the TCM channel no one can believe Zaslov feels obligated to stand by Warner's original plan to release on BR what they've restored. I just don't see it.
