What small scene do you remember vividly from Dallas?

When JR and Sue Ellen bump into the cartel and they all walk past them except for Cliff soon after his suicide attempt.
"Kinda surprised to see you here Barnes, oh of course Jordan Lee picked up the cheque".

Some general chit chat takes place with Sue Ellen telling Cliff he looks well and Cliff warns her not to get rid of her divorce settlement, they might need it.
Cliff leaves and JR and Sue Ellen go to their table,
"Don't let him upset you", says Sue Ellen.
"The fact that he's alive upsets me", says JR followed with, " At least he's not standing between us anymore".
Sue Ellen says she wouldn't like to see anything else bad happen to Cliff.

JR asked if that's a last pang for an old love which Sue Ellen replies, "Sweetheart, the only man I'm in love with is the man I'm about to have lunch with".

Sue Ellen calls JR sweetheart!!?

Love the looks Cliff and her always gave to each other. Their feelings for each were never truly forgotten.

In 'The Lesson' when Pam is driving Lucy home from school, she tells her to look at the new clothes she bought.

The clothes go flying out of the passenger window, the car skids to a stop off-screen and a defeated Lucy gets out and scoops them up.
I love that scene! Pam was tough on Lucy. She gave her what she needed. Everyone else had basically spoiled her but Pam saw right through her shenanigans.

The clothes go flying out of the passenger window,
And later she cuts up a blouse from those new clothes to make it look like her teacher attached her.

Later in "Runaway" Lucy scatters her bedroom floor with some new outfits Pam had picked out for Lucy for her Birthday Party.

I guess Lucy just didn't like Pam's taste in clothes!

Also in "The Lesson" Pam joins Miss Ellie for a coffee as she talks about Lucy missing school and being spoiled. Miss Ellie thanks Pam and Pam says, "What for?"
"For listening", replies Miss Ellie.

Miss Ellie was already warming to Pam and their close relationship was slowly forming.

I liked the early episodes. One scene in particular is also from "Lessons." Jock and Miss Ellie are playing backgammon, JR says in response to Lucy going on a date, "makes me fill old." Miss Ellie responds, "Jr, you were born old."

The scene was when they at least appeared to be a close knit family, as opposed to later when they appeared to just be a bunch of rich people living together that don't get along.

Actually she says "Junior, you were born old!"

I remember that scene because Hagman grins like a Cheshire cat afterwards. :)

After JR tried to get Miss Ellie to snatch John Ross from the Southern Cross Ranch Miss Ellie tells JR off and how he used her love for John Ross and she saw a side to him she didn't like and that most of the time she turned a blind eye to his behaviour.

JR protests saying he'll do anything to get John Ross back and that Sue Ellen wasn't a perfect wife or mother.

"There's no telling what he's getting exposed to down there, she's living in sin with a cowboy, hell he can hardly walk".
"Then why would she prefer him to you?"
"Because she's crazy".

These two had some great scenes together, love how JR looks like a naughty, disappointed boy here and Miss Ellie the strong disciplinarian.

Not necessarily a small scene, but I remember watching JR's and Dusty's confrontation at the Cotton Bowl when it originally aired.

the site where Bobby surely would have played (starred) at least once before 70,000+ fans in person and a national television audience of millions on New Year’s Day as the QB of the Texas Longhorns.

(he’d have probably played there at a handful of times over the years, but at least one Cotton Bowl)

Amazing scene. JR being that total put down b*****d. He was brutal.
He suggested Sue Ellen with Clayton here before she moved out of The Southern Cross then later needed Afton to suggest it.

Has anyone else noticed how Jared Martin grins as he slaps Larry?

He does seem to enjoy it, doesn’t he? My favorite part of that scene though will always be “We’ve got about 72,000 empty seats here. Are you sure you wouldn’t like to sit down?” Such a subtle jab but so effective the way Larry delivers it.
Yes, he appears to enjoy it a little too much.

Even the build up in this scene is quite something, JR arrives in his car and Dusty sweeps in on his helicopter.
Dusty is more grand in stature but JR's verbal brutality wins the battle and Dusty limps off, his wounded ego and self esteem in bits.

Love how JR always emphasises My Wife (even when they later divorced).

Both men look so good here and the whole scene is a masterpiece written and directed by Katzman.

I don’t know if this qualifies as a small scene given his reaction, but when Jackie wakes Cliff up in his car to tell him he struck oil. Nice to see “the lovable loser” finally win for once.

Yeah, when he get's out the car and repeats "I've won" several times he looks like someone who's been drunk and only just woken up with the way he staggers forward to the Campbell center building which houses Barnes Wentworth. :)

I love the timing of it all. J.R. has barely arrived when you start hearing the approaching chopper. Unrealistic that they would get there at almost the same exact moment? Sure, it is, but it makes for great drama and it’s an exciting moment.

As a side note, I do love the frequent use of the helicopters that season. It’s a subtle plot point but it serves its purpose well. We see Bobby, J.R., Dusty, and even Miss Ellie using them to go back and forth. They’re loud and intimidating but they kind of give the scenes a little extra drama in my opinion. And it’s also a sad harbinger of what was to soon happen with Jock.

Jeremy Wendell trying to take down Jock's painting,
and JR scolding him, and telling John Ross
that Jock was Ewing Oil.

It was in that moment that we saw JR at his best
Such a great exchange. I may be mistaken, but it seems like it was the first time anybody ever got the best of Jeremy in a verbal exchange and made him show fear.
