Dallas Top Ten Top Ten

1. Showdown at San Angelo = 67

Just when I thought Dallas couldn't get any more dramatic... that Confronto Em San Angelo video has made my day.

Suddenly I have an urge to watch the entire series in Spanish.

So basically everyone's favorite scene with Miss Ellie is the one where she first met Clayton?

And yes I definitely wanna rewatch Dallas too some day. There's really no other show quite like it. :)

Not to be nitpicky but...that is Portuguese!! :eck:

"Do you think that is "Dallas" in Spanish?! I´ll tell ya what "Dallas" in Spanish is..."

"This is Takapa, I mean "Dallas" in Spanish!!"

And if you already hate it, you ain´t seen anything yet, because its quality became worse and worse...Voice changes, awfully wrong dialogue translations, mispronunciation of the characters´ names... :re: :byee:

Luck we had the locally dubbed versions which were so much better! And Dual system to choose English too!

But it will be so much richer in Spanish. See how much more dramatic those season finale cliffhangers would be:

I always loved good ol´Jock in a very special way. He was grumpy and somewhat absent-minded (apparently, and especially re JR´s misdeeds), and he didn´t need a good storyline to make all his scenes work (just like BBG). He had to BE there, and be himself, as the press used to say before his death (that he wasn´t actually a great actor, but a great personality). I think he had both qualities and his too early passing proved how strong his presence could be (and was!).

So here is my Top Ten:

1- No More Mr. Nice Guy (I) (the "gallavanting" comment to boozy Sue; just a classic!) :tv2:

2- The New Mrs. Ewing ("I am Takapa!!")

3- Barbecue (his little speech to "little lady" Pam is one of the best scenes of the whole series) :)

4- Black Market Baby ("Ewing women don´t work!", what a little "inglorious basterd" he was!) :brick:
5- Executive Wife (the "power is something you take" speech) :bump:

6- Reunion (I) ("Same ol´Digger Barnes!", "inglorious basterd" II) :re:

7- Election ("There's bound to be a body in that closet someplace. Find it!" Wouldn´t it have been FUN for JR to find out that Cliff was gay...thus giving the dialogue a double entendre?) :danc:

8- John Ewing III (2) ("John Ross Ewing III"...right after Josh Henderson is born)

9- Paternity Suit ("Noboby is gonna talk about the Ewings and get away with it. I know one thing for sure: we can't kill him!", oh Jock, you were one and only...) :floor:

10- Mastectomy (2) (His reconciliation scene with Miss Ellie) :fondle:

Also, all the scenes with a shirtless Jock in "Dallas: The Early Years" (he was a hottie!)

Wow... I never thought that I could actually like Bobby until now! As long as he's just in Spanish, that is.

Sigh. Since I don't really like Jock that much (although I do still consider him an important character to the series), this is sort of hard, but I need to get started on this before time runs out.

1. "Real power is something you take!!" (For once, Jock isn't playing favorites with bratty Bobby! Yes!)
2. "I am Takapa!"
3. Jock telling Ray that he is a Ewing.
4. Jock talking to Miss Ellie right before his heart surgery.
5. Jock visiting Amanda.
6. Jock arguing with Digger after a drunk Digger pulls into the Ewing driveway to dispose of that lame jigsaw puzzle.
7. Jock talking to Ray in Triangle.
8. Jock talking to Donna about Ray during their break-up. (I mean Ray and Donna's break-up. Not Jock and Donna's. Lol.)
9. Jock trying to work things out with Miss Ellie after her mastectomy.
10. Jock having his heart attack.

1. Jock’s showdown with Bobby at the Oil Barons, “Real power is something you take!”
2. After jogging he tells JR off reference Julie Grey, “I’m not too old that I can’t keep you in line.”
3. Comforting Ellie after her mastectomy.
4. The Unified versus D.O.A. and declaring “I am Takapa!”
5. “Us Ewings are not an easy family to get on with, as you found out”, consoling Pam after she looses her baby.
6. “There’s $100” to Digger, after he turns up looking $10,000 because Pam is now a Ewing.
7. Telling Ray he was fathered by him.
8. His clash with Digger at the bar, during the barbeque of ’78.
9. The heart to heart he had with Ellie, after his heart attack.
10. His second last scene with Ellie, in Ray and Donna’s bungalow. It was very sad. The frame freezes on Ellie crying.

Miss Ellie is watering the plants, around the mansion. Jock appears, with his morning paper, (a scene from season 1, DVD-2, 1978 – ‘79):

Jock: “Is Bobby going to stay locked in his room, all morning?”

Ellie: “No Jock but he is very edgy. Right now he doesn’t like this family very much.”

Jock: “Well I knew it was going to turn out this way, when he married a Barnes.”

Ellie: “Your son is in love with his wife. Doesn’t that count for anything?”

Jock: “Well let him settle it then. Bring her back. There’s work to be done around here.”

Ellie: “What about Ray?”

Jock: “He’s laid up!”

Ellie: “What’s the matter, with him?”

Jock: “He said the winch in the barn came loose. It looks more like he got kicked by a mule. You know Miss Ellie there are some things going on around here that I just don’t understand.”
