Oh Ked, i SO envy you, i really do! I wish i didn't know Dallas already and could be in your position right now!
The only thing i'm a little "afraid" of as a devoted Dynasty fan is, that you might end up liking Dallas more than Dynasty, because chances for that are not considerably low.

Well yeah, but I wouldn't ask John Forsythe to have sex with Linda on his desk, not because of class, but because they're both too old for that. Grant Show and Nathalie Kelley, however, are both much younger - and I might as well say it, a lot hotter. They can get away with it.
But if you disagree, then that's okay. We already covered that issue.

I doubt it. I might end up liking Dallas *as* much as Dynasty, but I can't see myself becoming as obsessed with it.
The only problem right now is getting a hold of all the episodes, because, unlike what @Karin Schill suggested, my public library doesn't have any of them. I don't want to spend money on any dvds, either. Sigh, I remember the gold old days when the entirety of Dynasty was on youtube...

We already covered that issue.
While DALLAS didn't start out as camp (although its last two or three years went that way) you might be thinking of the more redneck tone you've heard that DALLAS had in the beginning, the white-trash-made-good flavor that would gradually morph into something more cohesive that felt less nouveau riche.
Kind of the reverse of what DYNASTY did.
But, no, that early DALLAS phase didn't qualify as "camp."
I think you'll enjoy the first 10 or 11 seasons of DALLAS, though. And then, who knows?, you might watch the last two or three years just to see what we're complaining about.

Maybe one of your friends have the DVD's and you can borrow the show or some streaming device has it?
All episodes are available to buy from amazon video but they cost. Actually it's cheaper to buy a used version of the DVD set than to buy the streaming versions for a whole season!
But I completely get that you don't want to spend money on the show since you don't know if you will like it yet...

I don't have any friends. At least not in real life. All my friends are people I know online, because I'm better at expressing myself over a keyboard. And none of the people I do know in real life would have it anyway. That sounds more doable.

"Dumbed down" is the phrase that entered my mind after watching the trailer. I like what I see of Elizabeth Gillies and I'm glad that Fallon appears to have a genuine career this time. I also glad that Steven isn't only nearly gay, he's really most sincerely gay. I don't like that Steven has changed from being a sensitive, empathetic intellectual to a snarky "mean girl"; there's a "Real Housewives" vibe here that I really dislike. A catfight in the first episode?! They're shooting their wad too soon. And that mansion - oi vey!

I think that's a little unfair, mostly because his interaction with Fallon there was a softness to both of them. Plus, Steven made it clear he was the black sheep of his family, so there might be more to him than the trailer is letting on. Hopefully, at least.

I will probably never be able to be objective about any Steven other than Al Corley in the first two seasons (even Jack Coleman was too much for me), but this one seemed like a one-note character, and that may be giving him one note too many. He is also terminally unattractive. Sammy Jo came across more interesting to me in that trailer.
Nonetheless, the trailer shows a very confused show, to say the least. How can Steven be "the black sheep" for being gay in 2017? It made sense in 1981, but for a young man in 2017 (and in a rich family) it's laughable. Either this is a more evolved portrayal of a gay man's life (as some are praising it to be), or they want to have their cliches and eat them too.

Maybe he's not the black sheep because he's gay, but for another reason? Steven never had the business drive his father had, so maybe that's why they don't get along in this new version?

That's exactly how I see the trailer except "Real Housewives" compared to Dynasty 2.0 is better scripted.

Depends how you look it. From what I've seen from the trailer I'm not sure if the elevator scene was meant to be shocking to the viewer. I found it a yawn. If Dynasty 2.0 wanted to portray a modern gay man's life the writers would have been best to have Steven married, living in the Carrington mansion with possibly a kid. Now that would have been brave. Present a happily married couple...oh wait this is Dynasty 2017. We need shock value. Has anyone told the writers that Queer as Folk ended years ago?

Yes, at first sight, nu-Steven comes across as a very bland and one-dimensional stock character. Perhaps even a little dumb. I really don't really care whether he's in a loving monogamous relationship or if he's portrayed as a major slut jumping from bed to bed. Or if he's completely different from Al Corley's Steven. But make him an interesting, 3-dimensional character with unique quirks who happens to be gay.
I'm still waiting to see that. Or a business-savvy man who acts strong but is actually very insecure. Or a gentle & loving soul who succumbs to temptations of the flesh. Or an OCD-ridden perfectionist who burns bridges when things don't go his way. Or a hero on a mission with a dark past who over-compensates for past misdeeds. Whatever. As long as it's multi-dimensional. And he simply happens to be gay.

This looks transcendentally crappy: lazy, generic, poorly cast and already straining under the weight of a now very tired and smug post-camp-who-gives-a-f**k-tomfoolery-to-a-rock soundtrack that makes me yearn for the days of Lady Ashley and Christopher Cazanove. It makes TNT's bungling of 'Dallas' look like Eugene O'Neil.
