Isn't comedy supposed to be funny?
Watching 1 minute of it already feels torturous. Alexis is a non-character and Fallon is...I don't know. That voice is so grating I can't even think.

Alexis wasn’t a non character in S1.
She was equal to Celia/ Cristal , Blake and yes even Fallon.
Alexis didn’t start out as a character lower than Fallon and that made Fallon more interesting, it wasn’t a reversal of the original when Alexis arrived and Fallon was diluted.
I’m not whining just commenting on what happened.
The carrington Atlantic plots were miles better than all of Fallons just add water instant companies, especially the home shopping dreck.
Making Fallon queen in S2 then full on after and everyone else secondary characters ruined it.
Alexis 2 is freckles the clown.
I’m just waiting for the Steven scene which probably is going to be the last few minutes of the finale.
You can tell from the promos season 1 was a real soap with so much reference from the og it really was a new Dynasty
Unfortunately the ratings weren’t good, got rid of Steven, Celia the company and made it a “comedy variety” show starring Elizabeth Gilles, viewership tanked to the very bottom.

Really poor directing in this as the director wasn't paying attention to the words in the script. All three are seated yet Fallon insists to Dom and Alexis, "...you need to sit down and listen."
When this resurrection of Dynasty is done and dusted it would make a great case study on how not to create a reboot. Poorly, poorly executed from the get go. It's saving grace was Netflix, nothing more, nothing less.

Too me it sounds like Elizabeth Gillies is turning it up a notch. I recall when I was watching this on Netflix there was a scene where she allowed her natural voice to be heard. It was soft, engaging and it surprised me. I even made a comment about here on Telly Talk. It makes me wonder when she is adding the drama her natural voice changes to this grating delivery but rather than come across as drama it's comedy.
It was pretty much the same with Megan Mullally as Karen on Will & Grace. If you watch the first season she tends to use her natural voice but it evolves into this high pitched delivery...enough to break a champagne glass.

I do have a soft spot for the 2nd half of season 1.
Even Culhane had purpose as with Sammy Jo with Celia and Steven still around.
Alexis was a threat in the last episodes of S1, NS was turned into Eddie Britt season 2 , a punchline for EG to shine
Blake S1 was in charge and dangerous,
now he might as well be set dressing.
My opinion Elaine, bad writing aside can’t pull off the character and plays it clownish.
The CW was just the wrong network for this reboot.
I guess Dynasty wasn’t appealing for the main networks like MacGiver and Magnum PI.
Even with Netflix the CW panicked and retooled after S1 ended.
S3 on, no act had consequences, it’s just singing and Fallons weekly meltdowns.
All of them sitting was the least of the problem with that scene, both Alexis and Dominique are portrayed as clowns owing their lives to fallon and her home shopping network. Is dolly here has Hoda arrived ?

EG was much more subtle season 1 and way more powerful, independent but still wanting the approval of her parents
Making Blake, Cristal and Alexis background and ditching Steven hurt the show and her performance

For a few seasons we had a nice atmosphere here accepting NuDynasty as it is, especially in the episode discussions, S3+4...Then news of the cancellation was out and anyone who just likes to repeat five year old animosities against the same old C1/Steven/cheap comedy etc. is back. The redundancy isn't nearly as funny as you think.
