Oh, boo....according to Michael Michele's social media, they're only going to air those two episodes on 12/20, then return in March for the rest of the run. I get the impression that the show allows her (as opposed to all the cast) to share small tidbits like this on their social media pages because she seems to know how to share without over-sharing.
If the CW told them ahead of time that they were going to do this strange scheduling, Show might have had the time to craft a sort of stand-alone two-parter that resolves the cliffhanger and (maybe) has a Christmas theme. They could play it like a Holiday Special (it's five days before Christmas).

The second episode title is That Holiday Spirit apparently, so it's absolutely a holiday special.

It would be good if they showed these two episodes on Netflix over Christmas as a special and then treat the March episodes as season 5. Otherwise it means many of us have to wait until September/October 2022 to see the December episodes.

Especially since Netflix takes about a week to show off-network fare like this. They could release it on Christmas day (just five days after airing).
I guess it all hinges on whether the two episodes (which is what they're referring to them as) will pick up right from the S4 cliffhanger, or if they'll be stand-alone and ignore the various character jeopardies. That would be kind of weird, if you ask me.

Josh Reims has promised a wedding in the series's 100th episode, which will occur in this current season. No word on whether Moldavians might crash the wedding though.

Dynasty casts....
Pej Vahdat (Empire) has booked a heavily recurring role on the CW’s Dynasty. Developed for The CW by Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage, and Sallie Patrick, Dynasty watches as two of America’s wealthiest families feud for control over their fortune and their children. Vahdat will play Dex. A suave, handsome, charming hedge fund manager, Dex has a chance encounter with Alexis which will change her life in more ways than one. Vahdat also will be seen in a heavily recurring role in Showtime’s City on a Hill, as well a recurring role on FX’s The Old Man. His previous credits include feature The Day Shall Come as well as key recurring roles on Empire, The Village, Bones and Shameless. He’s repped by TalentWorks and Neon Kite.

They never did really define just how much money Alexis got in the wake of her divorce from Jeff and the misadventures with the mansion. From what I recall, she and Jeff bought up Blake's loan (which he had taken out with all his personal assets as collateral) and foreclosed on it all, including the mansion. When Jeff and Alexis's marriage went south, I'm 99% sure she got a monetary settlement on top of Carrington Manor, but they did not really spell out how much. They did not say it out loud, but it could be inferred that a lot of that money went into the ill-fated diamond mining project. When they tricked Alexis into selling the manor back to Blake it was implied he didn't pay a premium rate for it since it was supposedly sinking, but it would still have been an enormous financial windfall for Alexis when he bought it back. If they had confirmed in dialogue that the money she got from Blake went straight into buying that palatial penthouse (translation: she didn't make a profit off the selling of the manor), then an argument could then be made that she doesn't have any "liquid assets" to speak of, that her money has all been sunk into that penthouse. Which....well, let's just say she's going to need to hire a good lawyer and they don't come cheap. Maybe she could rent out the living room as a trailer park.
And it would all hinge on whether or not Jeff is paying her alimony. Again, it was not said out loud, but if it makes the plotline more convenient, they could easily say he has been doing it all this time. Since alimony typically ends when an ex-spouse remarries, she might be reluctant to marry Dex for fear of losing those huge alimony checks!

So the CW renewed seven shows for next season(s), but left the fate of several shows---including Dynasty---up in the air. According to TVLine, it has to do with uncertainties about a possible unloading...er, sale of the CW in the near future. Choices of which shows to renew and which to cancel might hinge on what the new owners might want for "their" channel.

We'll see what happens. I get the feeling that CBS Studios pushed Nancy Drew for early renewal because of that upcoming Tom Swift spin-off (that still just seems DOA). I think they might be happy with Dynasty getting 100+ episodes, but I still don't want it to end now.

If the Netflix deal doesn't "convey" with a sale of the CW, the overseas demand for the series might encourage Netflix to make an offer to buy the series from CBS Productions. And there's still a fair chance that the CW won't get sold off at all, which would be preferable to me. I like the show, but I'm not going to pay (for a streaming service) in order to watch it.

I'm not sure what to make of this, so I'm just going to toss it out there:
Dynasty is no longer the CW's lowest-rated show. That dubious honor now goes to the once-hot Riverdale. It is interesting to note that the CW does a LOT of publicity for Riverdale, and even moved it to another night to help it get more people watching (or at least get them to return to watching), and yet it only hurt them. I was always an advocate for moving Dynasty out of the Friday night graveyard, but seeing how the schedule shift has done nothing but hurt that show makes me wonder if Dynasty should just stay where it is.
