Apparently Alexis is mentioned in the reboot

Does anyone like a possibility of PSM coming on as Alexis? Give the character an All-American spin and get away from the idea that all bad guys must be British or have a British accent at least. PSM was brilliant as the mean girl in the beginning and would be amazing to see her wrap Dynasty (as we all are expecting it won't last) the way she started it.

I'm a huge PSM fan, and can't believe I'm suggesting this, but could (gulp) Emma step in as Alexis? Tracy Scoggins, Deborah Adair or Troy Beyer - what a step that could be.

The Heather idea is a nice tie in but her career is kind of low rent these days. There wouldn't be a great deal of buzz attached to hiring her among the CW's target audience. Not that they'd be wildly familiar with my two suggestions but with Heather there'd be that "oh it's the lady from that TLC show and those Lifetime movies". She lacks edge nowadays.

But what did Joan do before Dynasty? Soft porn and quite bad, B-class "Horror" movies. Not that much of a difference imo.
Heather to me would be an epic and logical choice, she had great onscreen chemistry (which is VERY important to get it work) with Grant Show on Melrose plus she was Sammy Jo on the original, so it all comes full circle in a weird kind of way.
Of course it's predictable, but that doesn't mean that it's bad. 1+1=2, what's bad with that?
Plus, Heather will know her part exactly, as she had many great scenes together with original Alexis and can be as bitchy as needed.

I see it even as an advantage that she wasn't doing really big things on TV lately, as that would make her more "affordable" for the CW.

So, i'm definitly on #TeamHeather as well here.
But they should not wait until season 2 to reveal her, she should pop up near the end of s1 as that will get many fans of the original back, that might have stopped watching before or didn't bother to tune in in the first place because there's no one of the original cast involved.
The only thing that bothers me is that they can't use the name "Alexis" for her, but maybe they'll have another good idea or they come to an agreement with Collins, because ... you know, the world is a marketplace, everything is negotiable.

Don't get me wrong. I like Heather Locklear a lot. I liked her on Dynasty, and I loved her on Melrose Place. She was that show's Alexis.
But first of all, Alexis is a brunette or else the children's hair makes no sense. Second, while indeed Joan Collins did not have much of a career before Dynasty, she was a classic beauty. Many in her younger years compared her to Elizabeth Taylor, and I have to say young Joan (seen below in one of the most memorable Star Trek episodes) seemed more stunning than Taylor to me. In other words, she had untapped potential, and boy did the show tap it. I know it sounds harsh, but Locklear's potential is a well run dry.
As for @Logan Rhinewood 's idea of PSM, I love PSM, but she hasn't aged well. Let's not go into a situation where instead of a much younger bride as in the original now Blake married a much older one for his first wife.

If that is true, I hope they use the name "Madeline", which was supposed to be the character's name originally. It'd be a great bit of trivia, especially for knowledgeable Old Dynasty fans. X)

As for Heather Locklear playing the part, I guess I wouldn't mind that after all. I'd be satisfied with either her or Catherine Oxenberg. They're both the same age as Grant Show and could pass for his vindictive ex-wife. However, as for Emma Samms, no, I don't see her as Alexis at all. She's Caress. Course that's another reason for why I'd want Oxenberg to play Alexis/Madeline, so that finally "Amanda" and "Fallon" can have more screentime as sisters (ideally, it'd be PSM and CO actually playing Fallon and Amanda respectively, but I'll take what I can get at this point ).

I hear you. Who really wanted a Melrose reboot, though? From what I saw, it was a snoozefest. I didn't even know that Heather showed up for that. It was probably too little too late by the time they brought her along. Did she get a big paycheck for it?

I'm not sure what she got paid exactly. Prior to her being hired, the rumour circulated that Heather was asking for $100,000 an episode which the CW initially turned down. They obviously came to some agreement though as the show had only aired three episodes before her return was announced, presumably in an attempt to generate some buzz amid low ratings. Shortly after, it was announced that Ashlee Simpson and Colin Egglesfield were being written out, presumably because (a) they needed to free up cash for Heather's salary and (b) their characters were boring as hell. Heather didn't show up until episode ten though, generating a small spike in the ratings before they bottomed out again. It would've been easy to miss her return given that she showed up so late in the game when a lot of viewers had jumped ship. The only reason that I hung on was because I knew Amanda was going to show up at some point. Someone has kindly cut together all Amanda scenes from the reboot which you can watch below.

I hear you Matthew. Joan's career was in the toilet pre-Dynasty. What I meant was, having come (literally) off the back of The Stud and The Bitch, Joan had a somewhat edgy, sexy reputation that gave her a sort of exotic Euro sleaze feel. She added this dynamism to the role of Alexis. Heather on the other hand, is a bit more mumsy these days. She doesn't exude the sexy vamp feel that I'd associate with Alexis. In saying that, the new Alexis (if she ever appears) may not be written as the type of woman who shags people to death and potentially shares lovers with her offspring. Which would be a shame.
