Indeed-- hope the releases aren't outrageously expensive.
I've been looking at Blu-ray players for my laptop (so I can watch on TV or laptop). I'm surprised by the price of the external players in comparison to DVD. My external DVD player cost me probably $20-30 but Blu-ray players of the same type are $120+. This might become a pricey re-purchase when you throw in the new HD box set too.

On a different note, does anyone know if the movies will also be upscaled?

I believe that the HD remastering of the complete Dallas saga will soon force Barbara Fan and me to replace all the caps already loaded in the photo albums of this forum ... with new images ;)

When I read about the DALLAS remastering I was very happy and the videos confirmed the quality, but now I'm worried. As RTL+ is the first streaming platform to air the remastered Dallas I've watched the first episode: "Digger's Daughter", and it lacks some minutes at the beginning (Bobby and Pam arriving to the gas station, talking and kissing interrupted by the station worker). At first I wondered if those minutes were edited (cut) in the remastered RTL version because the original airing dubbed in German didn't had this scene and wasn't dubbed, but now I fear this scene is missing in the remastered version from Warner. Hope not!

Somebody in Germany have noticed this? Or can explain the reason?

Merry XMas everybody!

Yikes. I hope scenes aren't edited out, especially needlessly considering there are no advertisement timeframe requirements to fit into a TV time slot. I'd also wonder why they'd remove scenes rather than add them or leave the same. I'd like to see extra deleted scenes added as a feature.
In relation to the beginning of Digger's Daughter too, that scene offers expository information for the setup of what comes next. We need Bobby and Pam to debate the difference between running the family business and having a hand in keeping the family business running via the three Bs. That information gives us an idea to begin with about what role Bobby currently plays and what drama might ensue when Pam encourages him to step up to be more involved.

If these "remasterings" are actually taken from old broadcast prints, then these kinds of cuts may run wild.

Hold on your hats, folks, for the mounting disappointments.

Perhaps @Garry can reassure us, but it's sounding like it might be a running problem.

These remastered episodes are from the original 35mm film prints where available. There are a few scenes in Seasons 11 and 12 that are upscaled from the broadcast video master because the original film reels are either missing or damaged.

Nothing has been edited out. The German version of Dallas was edited for time reasons with around four minutes of missing footage each episode. Some important scenes were cut out unfortunately and those scenes were never dubbed into German. These new remasters reflect that in the current German streaming service and RTL have opted to only include the German language dubbing, so they have edited out those missing English language scenes themselves.

Panic over!

Yes I was just about to post exactly that. RTL made the decision not to include non-dubbed scenes, of which there are unfortunately many as ARD was ruthless in the 80s to cut down all episodes to fit into a 45 minute slot.

I do kind of understand RTL's decision - a streaming service is not the best place to explain that episodes include scenes in English with added subtitles and why. Much easier on a DVD box. Having said that, RTL did decide to air all episodes of Knots Landing which had previously not been dubbed in the 80s; in English, with subtitles and with the original opening and closing credits. Again though, that was on TV and the actually ran quite a marketing campaign about it... and in that case it was whole episodes which would be shown in English rather than individual scenes within dubbed episodes.

Thanks for the information. I'll be waiting the english remastered DALLAS and the BluRay Box to enjoy the full series in a brand new light! Hope it includes the movies, although not being the best of Dallas.

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere in the thread but does anyone know if it will be streaming in the UK and Ireland? HBO Max isn’t available here due to HBO’s deal with Sky Atlantic, so I’m wondering will Sky run it somewhere or will it turn up on another streamer?

I'm getting so excited for the Bluray boxset. I know it may be some time away but cannot wait to get my hands on it. Hopefully it will be a 1 buy boxset as I can't be doing with buying each season again like I did with the DVD releases.
