If they could get Victoria to come back along with Patrick that would be awesome.
Just looking at your photo caption and I think it would be great if Patrick, Victoria, Linda, Steve and Charlene were optioned to do something in promoting the re-mastered Dallas. One wonders if Warner Bros has something in the works. I'd imagine the cost of re-mastering wasn't a cheap exercise so you'd think Warners will make some attempt at promoting Dallas on an upcoming streaming service or Blu-Ray release. Time will tell.

Thank you for sharing all of those great season one screencaps Southfork88. :)

You know those caps from "Winds of Vengeance" reminds me of when I showed that episode to a younger friend who hadn't seen Dallas before, about two years ago. After those dramatic ending shots she turned to me and was like, "now we have to watch the next episode". She was so curious to find out what would happen to JR/SE next. So imagine her surprise when the next episode was about something completely different. I guess this also proves in a way that Dallas really worked best when the storylines started to drag out over longer arcs rather than when it was an episodic, self-contained show.

And finally here's some more reposted screencaps from my photobucket. JR & Sue Ellen in one of the later seasons after she'd saved his life by telling Nick's father that it had been an accident. I think this scene really showed that they weren't quite over each other yet as he was almost courting her in the same way as he did when they were divorced.

Naturally Cally didn't like what she saw. Do you think they would have done a triangle with Sue Ellen/JR/Cally if Linda hadn't left the show when she did?

I'm not sure if they would have but this scene almost seemed to indicate it.

That's all for now,

Take care,

No. Cally could have never competed. It would have been better if there was no Cally. That was one of worst plots ever

Oh I love Elizabeth Taylor so I've seen Cat On A Hot Tin Roof several times. I read an old article once where the press speculated that Michael Wilding Jr's guest stint in Dallas was really a ploy to get Elizabeth on the show so she could act opposite Larry. I doubt that was true though but the National Enquirer does love to make up stuff! ;)

Anyway I agree with you about JR/SE their scenes on Dallas TNT sparked. Everybody could see it and talked about the magic between them. It's a shame they didn't get to share more scenes together on that show and it should have been a crime to cut out the scene this publicity still belongs to:

It's the type of scene that we fans had waited years to watch and yet the showrunner was so clueless that they ended up cutting it. :(
I think it sucks that the scene didn't even make it onto the DVD release among the deleted scenes as it definitely should have. Also notice how she's wearing Miss Ellie's pearls that JR gave her in this scene.

It would have been great to have seen more scenes with them and John Ross too. They had such a rich backstory to draw upon and honestly I don't think JR and Sue Ellen were that bad parents as the TNT version made them out to be. Or what do you all think?
Were JR/SE bad, average or good parents?

View attachment 4546

I think they did their best and were as good parents to John Ross as they could be given their circumstances. Sue Ellen did have her drinking problem to battle with and JR did run after other women a lot and wrecked his marriage. Yet they did both love their son lots. Sue Ellen really proved how much she loved John Ross when she let him live with JR at Southfork because it made him happiest even if it wasn't what she wanted. She wanted what was best for their son. JR risked his life for John Ross when he was kidnapped by BD Calhoun. Also when Southfork was on fire he rushed up the stairs to save Sue Ellen and John Ross without thinking of that he was endangering his own life. JR also took John Ross hunting and taught him to swim. He worked a lot but at times he could be an active father. So no I don't think they were that bad parents at all.

Then finally here's some more Dallas TNT photos:

I love this photo of the new cast as it seems natural with happy people and not just photoshopped with gloomy expressions like lots of the publicity photos tends to be these days.

See what I mean? ;)

Anyway that's enough photos from Dallas TNT for now.

Thanks for the Return to Southfork caps Southfork88. I love that reunion so much. :)

Take care,

I didn’t gEt that either about the TNT version. Sue Ellen & JR adored their son

Yeah I guess why Dallas TNT sometimes contradicted the original Dallas was because the showrunner hadn't even watched all episodes of Dallas. :(

But yes we all know that JR & Sue Ellen did love John Ross.
The only time they were treating him shabbily were when he was a baby and neither one of them wanted to pick up the baby. I am actually rewatching that season of Dallas right now.

Remember too that we don't really know much about the early days of their relationship and marriage. It's possible that they were very happy for a time and JR gradually turned into an asshat.

Sue Ellen also had an addictive personality. I have always said that alcohol was a poor substitute for her real drug of choice - JR. Whatever hold he had over her, it was deep and suffocating.

As for JR, his love for Sue Ellen is a lot easier to understand. She was the only person who loved him despite all his sins and faults. He loved her because she loved him.

@CeCe Was it actually mentioned in the original version what Suellen actually did for a degree at university? So far I haven't heard anything about it in the German version. (Currently running with us on RTL+Stream) When JR showed her the video in season 5 on the anniversary of her meeting, she was told that she was at university last year if I remember.

I think there was an episode in season 5 where Sue Ellen makes JR some French meal and mentions college French. Not that that was her major or anything, just a class she took.

Hello everyone,

now that i've watched all the seasons, Suellen and J.R. my favorite couple. And after everything they've done to each other over the seasons, I just wish they had a happy ending. So apart from the end in episode 31 where Suellen goes into the Ewing building and the bomb explodes in J.R.'s office, season 9 is my favorite season. Too bad it doesn't count.

What else to maybe start a discussion, in Season 9 Suellen and Jenna are sitting by the pool and also talking about Jerry Kenderson and she wants to know from Suellen how things are going. They also talk about the fact that love always seemed so easy in the Doris Day films. It occurred to me that maybe Linda & Larry could have acted in a film apart from Dalles. Yes, e.g. in this one remake of "A Touch of Mink" I guess some of you know this movie.

The other roles: Barbara Bel Geddes as Conny could have played the friend Linda lives with. Linda means Cathy here. Larry as Philip Shane, Patrick Duffy as Roger, the man at the unemployment office could have been taken over by the actor who played Jeremy Wendell in Dallas, Roger's psychiatrist could have taken over Ken Kercheval aka Cliff Barnes, the hotel doctor could have taken over Howard Keel aka Claton .

Rewrite a little. Larry & Ken (Kercheval) could also have starred in a remake of Odd Couple. Larry could have played Walther Matthau and Ken could have played Jack Lemmon.

Best regards Steffi

I wish it were but I've never seen it. Can only dream haha

Plot

Cathy Timberlake is on her way to an interview to end her unemployment when wealthy businessman Philip Shayne's Rolls-Royce drives through a puddle, splashing dirty water on her and ruining her coat. She goes to a vending machine restaurant to complain to her friend and roommate, Connie, who works there. The bully who just drives on is a handsome bachelor who offers Cathy a job as a secretary as compensation. He gives her a mink coat. She accepts the proposal to accompany him on his next business trip. But the journey ends in a fiasco: Hardly has she landed in Bermuda when Cathy is struck by the delusion that every hotel guest and every local can see that she and Philip Shayne are not married.

With so much excitement, Cathy gets a rash on her face. The summoned doctor diagnoses him as something that actually only happens to newlyweds. The next day they fly back home, both quite embarrassed, which particularly pleases Roger, Shayne's financial advisor. The former university lecturer, who was lured into business by Philip with a lot of money, has had a love-hate relationship with him for a long time and is a bundle of nerves. But Cathy can't think of anyone else but Philip and flies back to Bermuda, from where she calls Philip to come and try her again. Cathy is so nervous that she drinks a whole bottle of whiskey and falls off the balcony dead drunk when Philip arrives. This trip is also a failure. Roger gleefully goes back to his psychiatrist, Dr. Gruber, but stupidly tells him the whole story in first-person, from Cathy's point of view. So the psychiatrist thinks Roger is homosexual.

Back home with her friend Connie, she decides to send Cathy home to her family in Upper Sandusky to relax. But Cathy refuses and stares gloomily ahead. Then she gets a job offer from a bank. When she finds out that Philip Shayne got her this work, she causes an incredible chaos and runs away. Philip, who has long been in love with Cathy, sends Roger to her house. Roger is received, but is abused by Conny and the housekeeper with brooms, vases and a dog. He tries his luck a second time and is successful after being cleared up about being confused with Philip. Together they hatch a plan to outwit Philip. Cathy is dating Everett Beasley, an unpleasant employee at the unemployment office who has had his eye on her for a long time, hoping Philip will follow her. She goes to the bathroom at every gas station just to buy time. Meanwhile, Roger goes back to Philip, who is stewing in the sauna, and tells him where and who Cathy is going out with. Philip then runs, wearing only a towel, to the nearest taxi and follows her. In the motel, first he and then Roger bother the wrong couple before he finds Cathy and doesn't give her back. The honeymoon takes them to Bermuda again.

Philip, now married, gets the same rash from nervousness as Cathy - still unmarried - had. The following year, Cathy and Philip Shayne are walking their baby and Roger when Dr. Gruber reappears after a long vacation. When he sees the secretary with the baby, he lapses into his delusions again. it's a beautiful film.. Maybe you could rewrite something. Linda wouldn't have blond hair either, just the way she is.
