Another mention of Don coming, bare with me please.

In a scene on TNT Dallas Sue Ellen says, "I've spent 40 years being cheated on, I'm pretty good at picking up the signals".

Am I missing something here? She wasn't with JR for 40 years, so is she referring to Don as well as JR in that sentence? Is that why him and Sue Ellen split up?
Maybe Don couldn’t resist the temptations of the movie industry and that’s why they divorced.

Or Sue Ellen was either over exaggerating or her math was off.

I wondered that, but didn't like to think so. Maybe all of JR's cheating years felt like 40 years!

Talking of over exaggerating, John Ross says, "Seeing my Mother drunk like that, took me back to being a kid, doing whatever I could to keep her away from the bottle". I don't remember him doing that in original Dallas. Did he even know?

I remember when Miss Ellie was drunk John Ross referred to her acting the same way as when Sue Ellen was "sick".

Sue Ellen had know JR since 1967 and married him in 1970 so that that over forty years by 2012. I'm guessing Cynthia Cidre didn't watch much of Season 12 with Don Lockwood as Patrick Duffy stated she watched 150 episodes (of 357). I'm thinking her 40 years reference was just about JR.

It would have been nice to at least get some information about Don Lockwood or how their marriage ended somewhere in JR Returns orTNT Dallas, but nothing.

I took that as maybe it did happen and we just didn’t see it, or as someone misremembering childhood events as something they were there for when it was really something they were only told about.

This makes sense to me. The last divorce was in the late 80s so even though they hadn’t been together the entire 40 years she was counting from start to 2012.

That makes more sense now. I guess I thought Sue Ellen would have said "I spent my whole marriage to JR being cheated on". I know they knew each for over 40 years but certainly weren't together for that long so I started wondering if it was a nod to Don.

Cidre only watched 150 episodes? Wow! I would love to know which ones or what seasons, not that it would've made a difference, you either know Dallas or you don't. She obviously fell into the middle category; very limited knowledge.

Seems so strange that Don is just never mentioned but then he wasn't the only one. Weird.

There's plenty of fans that were of the opinion Ian Mcshane had no chemistry with Linda Gray. I believe they did but Don just seemed all wrong for Sue Ellen. Linda had chemistry with everyone, well I would believe that of course.

It was great seeing the repeat of her on his show Lovejoy recently which was filmed a couple of years after Linda left Dallas. They definitely looked really good together on screen in that. Apparently he asked Larry too if he would take part but only Linda accepted his offer.

Saw Ian Mcshane on a chat show last week, he's been very busy lately with numerous TV and film roles but no mention of his time on Dallas sadly.

Yeah. That timing doesn't work at all. Weren't her and JR married for ten years before they divorced? And she tells him in the dream season that they had been together 14 years.l - they divorced 2 seasons later. That would mean she was married to Don for a very long time.

From when they met in 1967 to their second divorce was around 22 years or so. She’s saying this in 2012 so I think she’s either saying she’s known him from over 40 years and he was cheating on her from day one and always did, even though there is a gap of about 23 years there, or she’s including Don as well. Unfortunately we know nothing about their marriage.

I doubt that the TNT writers gave it that much thought. The 40 years figure is probably best taken as a shorthand. My guess is that she's just talking about JR but it would take the whole episode to spell out which years she was married and to which husband.

I always thought it was strange that after Katherine met Jenna for lunch and tried to pay her to get out of town she never mentioned it to Bobby. Katherine totally showed her true colours. You'd think when got home she would have said, "Hey, your sister in law is a total nutjob who tried to bribe me to leave town and is obsessed with you". But no, she just let him go on thinking she was the Pam's kind and helpful sister for the rest of the season.

I think that Laredo motel room was not the first Jenna had been knocked over the head (or whatever denied oxygen to the brain for several minutes).

Probably, Jennaskank knew that you don´t mess up with such beeches... I loved that scene and later Jenna did mention it to the Bobster, who seemed to be his usual self-absorbed!

Oh I don't remember her mentioning it to Bobby but I guess she didn't do a very good job of explaining what Katherine was really like as Bobby just carried on with their friendship regardless.

Bobby really was a Booby! (brilliant) with the women in his life and yet he was so tuned into sister-in-law Sue Ellen and niece Lucy, even Valene.
I think Bobby compartmentalizes the women in his life much like JR does—while both can be emotionally sharp when it comes to friends and family, their perception becomes clouded once romance enters the picture.

1st of all you guys forget that in season 2 dvd i think it was? Sue Ellen said they had been married 7 years which would mean they married in (1971) now i dunno about them meeting in (1967) you guys and gals know the show far better than i. here's something nobody is mentioning, perhaps she didn't mean JR because you all are Correct they weren't married for 40 years. perhaps she was talking about in all the various Men she had either Dated or Married through 40 years of her life. she was yes Counting JR no doubt but i doubt he was the only one who cheated on her.

some women in real life sadly end up only finding guys who are cheaters the same with some guys meeting some women who are the same perhaps Sue Ellen falls into the area of finding far too men who sadly cheat on her.

Throughout the original series, we saw Sue Ellen in multiple relationships with multiple men. As far as I can recall, none of her men cheated on her other than JR.

I tend to agree with the thought that the line about being cheated on for 40 years was exclusively about JR but that neither Cidre nor the other writers new enough about the history of the original show to know how wrong that figure was.

you raised a good point, i wonder if it just felt like 40 years? well JR let's face it gave her a ton of issues with Men and good reason to because if i was married to someone like that and have it not F.... me Up that would be a f... Miracle. i don't hate the reboot/sequel it had it's moments if they ever bring Dallas Back i dunno who'd be cast? i wonder if they would center the show around a different Family? i mean how can you replace Larry hagman or Patrick Duffy? you can't

Were there any storylines from the episodes leading up to Bobby’s death/Pam’s dream that weren’t picked up again after the clock was turned back a year later? Or any discrepancies?
An obvious one was we saw the woman who turned out to be Katherine a few times before the morning of the accident, throwing a drink at the TV screen and waiting outside Pam’s house the night before - but I suppose these scenes could have been part of Pam’s dream just shown in a non-linear way.

Dusty was gone, and Sue Ellen had recovered from her current alcoholic breakdown overnight.

I tell myelf that Katherine was actually sitting in a car in front of Pam's house that night and had a breakdown or breakthrough, depending on how you look at it, in the car and emotionally detached herself from Bobby, which would also explain her kind behavior after Pam's car accident. Perhaps Pam had subconsciously sensed Katherine was near and that's why she dreamed about the car accident in front of her house.

Pam seemed to be very observant anyway, which was evident in her dream. I assume she had seen Wes before on Southfork when she visited Miss Ellie with Christopher. She didn't know his name, hence a different one in her dream, but she saw a special connection to Miss Ellie, which is why she dreamed about it.
