I like this more than I Rise, though I like that too. I Rise feels like it could have been on her Rebel Heart album.

She sang that song on Eurovision Song Contest last night. 
So what's everyone's opinion of her Eurovision performance?
Personally I was disappointed. I felt like it was not her best performance of "Like a Prayer" since it was a bit too slow. Also the new song was not as good as some of the ones in the competition.
I had expected it to be better than all of them and it just wasn't. I think "Future" was more a political statement (save the planet and the environment) than it was a song. It is possible that my expectations were too high, but I had expected more from Madonna.
Her interview was fine though, but I wish she'd ditched the eyepatch. I get that it's part of a gimmick and a new role that she's playing to hype her new album. But I think it didn't go down well with some of the audience. My mom for instance really didn't get why Madonna was wearing the eye patch and wondered if she had a sight problem. She also said that she no longer admired her. She did when Madonna was in Evita. I tried to explain to her that Madonna is an actress who was just playing another role just like Evita had been a role she'd played. But I don't think my mom got it.

Dreadful. I'm just being honest. And to rub salt into the wound of her legion of fans she uploaded the footage on her youtube channel of her performance later corrected with autotune. My hard earned dollars will be safely staying in my wallet.

Back in December, Madonna, or someone from her camp teased this song on YT and called it BEAUTIFUL GAME. Now, she's released 5 songs from her MADAME X and I've been waiting, wondering what happened to that teaser which was posted at the end of last year.
Listening to DARK BALLET this past week and I realised this earlier teaser is based on that song. I love DB, especially the video, but now I want a full song of this version.

I feel bad saying this but right now I just don't feel it. It feels like she's not treading new ground anymore. Like she's going back over things she's already done. And honestly some of it just feels a bit exploitative. Especially the LGBTQIA reaching. (cant believe that's really a thing) It makes me think of how Madonna called Lady Gaga reductive.
Has Madonna ran out of things to say? Has it went beyond tropes and themes and just become repetition?
I feel bad about not liking her stuff now. I don't know why. It makes me feel like one of those pricks that's saying oh she's too old to be doing/singing/wearing/ that. I don't think that's how I really feel. After all she can do whatever the hell she likes. To me now though it just doesn't feel like Madonna is bringing anything new to the table. And it seems like she's desperately trying to appeal to an audience that just doesn't care about her.
In work last week Loose Women was on, and they mentioned that Madonna hates hearing her old hits. A girl at work has just turned 20, and she piped up in the background, "Yea so does everyone else love!" then started doing a shitty mocking rendition of Holiday. It hurt... It hurt bad.

I don't think there is any reason why you would feel this way. I've often struggled over the years when I first hear any of her new music. I remember really disliking FROZEN and was shocked it went to number one. Obviously, I was hasty in my thoughts because I did grow to absolutely adore that song.
I don't know if Madonna is trying to reach out to new audiences, part of me thinks she's doing what she wants because she loves it at that time. I don't think she's chasing success because she's not actually getting it. Her last album is the weakest of them all in terms of sales. If she was looking at trying to bring back some of her older success I would have thought she might go with something like CONFESSIONS which I thought she was doing when I read about the teasers last year.
I go through phases with her music, sometimes I'm in a 90s mood, sometimes it's the 80s and then the 00s. I'm thankful that she does have so much variety across all the decades she's been doing this.
My least played album is MDNA and yet when I do listen I wonder why I keep forgetting about it.

Well she's trying to reach younger people obviously with the renta-rapper stuff. And all this gansta grill realness. She's making a variant of the type of music that young people listen to. Only those people wont listen to it because Madonna is who their mum or their nan or their gay uncle listened to. She wouldn't try and redo something like Confessions because people in their 20s now were about 10 when that was released.
Her last album was the weakest of her career because only people of a certain age buy albums now. Not because of how good or bad the material was. Half of it was brilliant, and half of it was chasing the kids.
I don't think that recapturing her previous success is even her goal anymore. She just wants to remain relevant and to do that in pop music then the kids have to like you.

Okay, but I don't think she is. What I mean is, she's not stupid (or at least I don't think she is) so she must be completely aware of what the younger audiences are listening to and she can see (from her last couple of albums) that her work is not achieving that, so my thoughts are that she is just doing what pleases her and the fact it's not selling like it used to doesn't prevent her from doing just that.
Gosh, I feel really thick here, but what do you mean people of a certain age?
Still not sure what you're referring her. I see (with comments like this) that she is still campaigning for equal rights regardless of who anyone is.

Well lets say people over 30. Most younger people I know stream everything. They think of CD's as archaic. They may buy Vinyl and likely wont open it, just keep it on a shelf because it looks pretty and it's quirky.
Madonna hasn't walked this earth black, queer or HIV positive. So, yea. That's how I feel about that one.
She is still making music that is chasing the trend of what is current. Only the people who are listing to that current music are not listening to Madonna's take on it. She keeps trying to appeal to a younger market. I am a life long Madonna fan, but the majority of the music she has been making in say the last ten years is not aimed at someone with my music tastes.

Oh, right. I thought it might have been that but wasn't sure because I thought streaming counted towards the sales of albums. In fact, it's only now dawning on me that the records sales of any album as listed on Wiki might not include the streams, maybe that's just for the Official Charts Company. That's an interesting one.

I really do get what you are saying and I understand where you are with her music today, but what lingers with me is that, in her trying to appeal to the younger listeners, she must realise that hasn't worked for her since the days of HARD CANDY and Justin Timberlake, hence why I think she's doing what she's doing because she enjoys it, regardless of who listens or who doesn't. She must know what the market is out there.
