Thanks Wise Willie. A personal viewing may be on the cards at some point down the track if, and when, I subscribe to Netflix. With regards to my labeling Cristal "nasty" it was just the vibe I was picking up from other posters. It was a throwaway line, forgive me.
Still I'd like to know if there is room for another character like Alexis if we already have 2 domineering characters, as in Fallon and Cristal.

Oh my God! On the old forum I suggested that he should be the costume designer for ANY nuDynasty as he trained under Nolan Miller and still uses a lot of his cuts and signature motifs to this day! That's weird! I think I need at least an Executive Producer credit!!!!

Yes, because both Fallon and Cristal have mellowed a bit (quite a bit, actually) and their feud is no longer the center of the story.
So there's definitely room for a villainess (hurry up, Dynasty!)

Cristal has skeletons in her closet but she’s still a good girl heroine type. Fallon is still bitchy but more nuanced whereas Alexis is the HBIC. I think there is room for all of them. It’s not like the original didn’t have various devious characters running around. I hope the tired actress playing Cristal is up to the challenge of working with Nicolette. Linda Evans had such a strong presence that she could stand up to Alexis and it worked. The new Cristal has better writing but she just comes off so weak even when they give her something powerful to do.

The new Cristal is going to look like a glorified extra next to Nicollette who has a very strong presence. I mean she could bury those Housewives with one bitchy line or just a look on her face when she played Edie Britt. Her presence on Knots Landing was also very strong. I haven't seen that many episodes but I loved her chemistry with Bill Devane and Michelle Phillips.
I am not as familiar with Nicollette as the rest of you but I believe it.
In the past, some actors/actresses have no choice but to step up their game when a talent/powerhouse shows up. Not saying everyone is able to rise to the challenge, though perhaps we will see some shift where Cristal is concerned - one way or the other!

I can remember when I was watching all of Knots Landing a few years back and Nicollette showed up as Paige. There were times she was like a mini Alexis. I loved her look. She wore Alexis style hats a few times. I remember thinking she's using Alexis as a template and look at her now!

I also think Joan Collins made the original cast up their game when she initially showed up. And also when Stephanie Beacham came on Dynasty in season 9 she in turn made Joan up her game.

Despite my objections to Nicolette being cast as the new Alexis I can see her wearing those outfits as they fit her persona, something akin to kick-arse, rock chick look.

Those sketches are amazing!
Random thought. In today's ultra clean network TV world, I wonder will Nicollette's Alexis be draped in cigarette smoke like Joan was? She used cigarettes so dramatically on the original but I can't think of a network show nowadays where you see lead characters chain-smoking in the same way.

@Carrie Fairchild Great observation! I haven't even thought of that. Probably not cigarettes, maybe e-cigarettes? That could still work. Alexis is trying to quit real ciggies and get rid of the smoke which makes her even more angry and agitated. Cigars are even more out of the option now
