Cloud
Yeah, that thing in the sky.
Since Cyclone Alfred paid Queensland and Northern New South Wales a visit a few weeks ago here in Newcastle we've experienced constant overcast days and persistent rain. I just want to the cloud to perform one job: drop a little rain and quickly move on.

Come to think of it. Is this an overrated or rant room thing? Never mind. I'm here already.

I don't get the hype around iPhones and Apple products in general.

I'm team Pixel all the way.

I don't like SEINFELD. I tried to give it a chance, but that failed miserably. I don't get the hype. None of the characters are likable and I didn't find it funny.

Also, I've never seen the hype for:

M*A*S*H
THE BIG BANG THEORY
(I'll come back for me)

The FAST AND THE FURIOUS movies. How many movies can you make about drag racing? And yet I sent to school with people that went to opening night screenings of these movies and would buy bootlegs to watch them at home.

Indeed-- the original 60s ABC Addams Family (w/John Astin, Carolyn Jones et al.), which I have finished on DVD, is a cut above that (far funnier, and far better-written and acted, IMO).

I agree. THE ADDAMS FAMILY (the '60s sitcom) is far funnier than SEINFELD.

I always assumed that my lack of interest/affinity for Seinfeld was because it was written by (and produced for) a certain demographic--that of the New York/urban dweller. Some shows are produced to be viewed by a wide group, while others are more "targeted"---and that's okay. I mean, I know some people would find shows I like to be equally un-interesting, but I don't take offense.

Maybe that's it. Maybe SEINFELD is just aimed at an audience I'm not a part of, and that's ok. And just as you, not all of the TV shows I like would find a wide audience, especially not in today's environment.

The SEINFELD character were sociopaths, it's true. Even "Genocide Jerry" Seinfeld himself admitted SEINFELD represented the "devolution of the sitcom" genre, in that all "the characters were just props for the jokes."

I rarely feel the urge to re-watch either SEINFELD or FRIENDS, but do I defend the much-reviled SEINFELD finale. It was just right -- and they all wound up in prison. Where they belonged.

Have you seen it on DVD like I have?
What, THE ADDAMS FAMILY? I have the DVD set, but it's been ages since I've watched any of them.

What little I've seen of SEINFELD just hasn't have left me longing to watch any more of it. Of course, I've seen some clips online that are funny, or at least make me chuckle, but the complete episodes are just a drag for me. I watched six or eight in a row once and that was enough. After hearing so much hype for such a long time, I was expecting more. But maybe I shouldn't have.

On the other hand, I honestly like FRIENDS. Now, it isn't at the top of the list for me, but I do find it quite funny in some spots. My wife is a pretty big fan of FRIENDS, and I've watched it with her some. It's enjoyable, though, for a little piece.

Did not know that! I saw it just this year on DVD, I believe.

For me, I think both shows are too '90s in their zeitgeist. Not that I have anything against the '90s per se (except for the vile tone of the endless media scandals) but I just seem to have little desire to re-visit it.

Structurally, SEINFELD always seems to have two parallel stories per episode which inevitably collide at the end. It's all clever enough, I suppose.

Yeah, the whole series of THE ADDAMS FAMILY has been on Region 1 DVD since late 2007. It's been released in three volumes and in a complete series box-set. I have the three volume releases.
