This show needs Melinda Clarke as Alexis

From the first time I saw Melinda on The O.C. I was instantly reminded of Joan Collins as Alexis. And indeed Melinda's Julie Cooper Nichol did go on to become that shows Alexis Colby. A sexy brunette vixen with piercing green eyes and an all encompassing need to push herself to the top and to secure her future and the future of her children via manipulations at any cost.
Julie was so clearly based on Alexis and her frenemy Kirsten was a nod to Krystle. Only the two didn't actually hate each other like the DYNASTY ladies did. No babies had been killed, no one has been banished by their husbands. She wore clothes like nobody else, she had catfights that ended in swimming pools, she made plays for only the richest and most powerful men. She exchanged barbs with everyone including her daughter who seemed to hate her at times.

I later saw Melinda pop up on CSI and she played an amazingly clever dominatrix that ended up coming back again and again and had great chemistry with Grissom. She was basically a fabulous film noir femme fatale with electric intelligence. Again you are smacked around the face with early Alexis. Cunning, reading, all knowing and all calculating.

On The O.C she worked and manipulated to keep Ryan away from Marissa just as Alexis did to keep trashy Sammy Jo away from Steven. She plotted and schemed to marry mega rich Caleb Nichol and then plans to poison him to gain his fortune, only God intervenes and Caleb has a heart attack just like Cecil Colby and thus the Nichol fortune passes to Julie. She instantly becomes a million times more fabulous.

Melinda was born to play this role and she could possibly save it if it's not going so great. She's a very talented, accomplished actress who knows how to hit just the right note between camp and drama.

If this Alexis had to be American then Melinda Clarke would also be my choice! She's a very good actress in fact she would probably out act this current cast of Dynasty and really would steal the show moreso than Joan Collins did in the original series.

Other than that seeing as this Krystle (I won't say the other spelling of that name, I refuse too!) is brunette, then maybe this new Alexis could be a blonde or even a redhead, my choice for Alexis would be Joley Richardson, she's played in a long running series before; Nip/Tuck which encompassed everything an 80s soap would have but amplified by 10 times more (plus the fact it was on HBO which kinda says it all really) Christian Troy made JR look like a virginal priest in comparison, the character Joley Richardson plays; Julia McNamara is a tragic hybrid between Val Ewing & Maggie Gioberti, again amplify that by 10x's, however I think she could play an icy, cold, blonde English bitch, providing the new PTB watch Alexis from season 2 and not from season 6.

Is gorgeous and definitely my type *hubbahubba*




And she's old enough to be Fallon and Steven's mother too, Elizabeth Gillies was born in 1993 and Christina Hendricks was born in 1974 so it would fit perfectly.

That would be good actually, but somehow I don't think we'll be seeing the Colby's in the same way as we did in the original, if they make an appearance at all, this reboot could very well diverge after season 2, hopefully this versions seasons 3 and 4 will live up to its potential and completely avoid the mess that was seasons 5 thru 8.

A perfect description of Melinda's performance on CSI. Her appearance warranted viewing because you knew the episode was going to be something special. Of all the names put forward to play such an iconic role I think Melinda is the natural choice. This time however I'd like to see Alexis played with "darkness", something Melinda can easily deliver. She arrives with a sense of dread. Rather than fall into the high pitch delivery of lines that Joan fell into, Melinda should have a quietness about her. She is a thinker.

The new Alexis also needs to perform an act so heinous we know exactly how dangerous she can be - just like Alexis did when she fired that shot gun - causing Krystle to lose her baby. I remember thinking at the time this woman was not to be messed with.
