they will need feedback from fans. and the showrunners are on twitter, and they do have a facebok page. for fake empire.
Let's let the producers know that we want Amanda, and Adam, this time maybe they should be twins who alexis has custody f somewhere. In the original show they were created to fill the voids left when they wanted Blake to srill have a son, and daughter, after Steven, and Fallon needed to be recast.

Adam and Amanda as twins? Hmmm, I did want both of them to be introduced at once, and having them be twins would certainly help with that. Plus, it'd be a great reference to Miles and Monica being twins. I'm still so used to Adam being the oldest, though... meh, but this is a fresh start, and changes are necessary.
As long as the new actors resemble the old ones... well, no. I think maybe I could accept an Adam that didn't look like Gordon Thomson, but I insist that the new Amanda look like Catherine Oxenberg. After all, Liz Gillies resembles PSM on some level, so this way we can pretend PSM and CO are finally working together.

Indeed. Ms. Gillies is easily the best thing about this remake, I can't possibly see why any fan of the old show would be dissatisfied with her (except I did see at least one negative comment about her having no class like PSM... which is very weird, considering PSM was a playboy model, and her version of Fallon was a raging nympho with a rather dark sense of humor).

This would partially explain why American drama series - once the pinnacle of must watch television - is failing in overseas markets. Dallas and Dynasty both spoke a universal story. Dallas was about a young woman, from humble beginnings, marrying into a wealthy family that also had an unhealthy appetite for her father and brother.
Dynasty began - with promise - of another woman from humble beginnings marrying into a wealthy family that appeared (from the outside) lonely and consumed by wealth rather than each other. It's a simple story to most but it works. Because of that slow pacing the audience begins to feed off the characters strengths and weaknesses. We grow to appreciate what the writers had also envisaged, an attachment to fictional characters.
The feeling I'm getting from the Dynasty 2.0 trailer is characters without depth and warmth. Their two dimensional. When a family is drowning in millions and just being ruthlessly mean to each I cannot connect to their story. But I suppose it reflects on society as a whole today, especially the youth. Inward looking, I want, I want, I want. I'm guessing it'll attract the "Keeping up with the Dash-hounds" mob.
A recent example of an American production failing here in Australia which promised big things was "Empire". I'm guessing most (like me) didn't spot one redeeming character. Is it any wonder companies like Netflix is so popular. Their not beholden to the top brass or shareholders. There appears to be real passion in that company for creating memorable series.

We have yet to see how the constraints of a weekly budget reflect upon the look of the show. Pilots always look better. The pilot of the original series was also much more grand than what we got moving forward, especially later on.
But, if we're only comparing the two pilots filmed on location - sorry, Fil-oli is a grand, classy, sweeping estate with character. This looks like one of those tacky vapid McMansions that vulgar celebrities and other rich people with lots of money and no class live in.
Let's not get carried away by HD.

I agree. Filoli gives us the impression there is history contained in those magnificent walls. It also says the mansion was built with old money so when viewed from our perspective there is a sense of generations having lived there before. Meanwhile the home being used in Dynasty 2.0 lacks soul. It may be breathtaking to look at but it also implies Blake, Fallon and Steven just moved in...from where?
It's a pity really the writers didn't return to Filoli when re-imaging Dynasty. That home could have lent itself to the story of Cristel entering a grand mansion while feeling entrapped by its grandeur. The feeling I'm getting from the CW Dynasty trailer is the house has about as much soul as the characters living there...none.

I find Hollywood baffling. It is so difficult and competitive to get into, you'd think only the brightest and best would make it to a position of being able to commission or executive-produce a network TV show. And yet the people who make it seem to be serial blunderers who occasionally, by accident, come up with a hit.
Everyone on here can see what's wrong with that trailer, and I agree with the comments so far. If the show fails, the only question will be why the decision-makers, as with Dallas, Blood & Oil, and numerous others, couldn't see what is obvious to the viewing public?

It looks shallow and soulless, just like anything else the networks have been doing in the last years. I had little hope for this and this trailer just proves my worst concerns. It's just a four minute clip but there doesn't seem to be one likeable character on this show. How can this work, if there is no one to care about. Don't these people who make these shows get this?
Season one of The O.C. was just awesome and had so many great characters, but the creator doesn't seem to remember this.
Luckily, there are still countless shows on streaming and cable who aren't called soaps, but actually are soaps (in a good way), so I don't have to count on this one to be any good.

I would say the class comment was more about how the actresses spoke and carried themselves. There was something very real about early Fallon. You bough that that was her life, jet-setting around, being educated at private schools and probably expelled from them too. She wasn't intimidated by anything really. She was taught all the finer things in life, and how to behave like a lady and hold court around anyone. But you also knew she'd smoked many a joint and drank beer from the bottle and had been having her choice of the male population for quite some time. There were so many layers to her. There was a natural elegance to her. Here, nu-Fallon is just one of those bitchy for no reason poolside soap girls. She even has that dreaded way of speaking that I was so afraid of.
This new show lacks something that was just there in the original.

I think you're right, but maybe it'll give us something new as well, and that's what excites me. Are there going to be alternative cliffhangers? OMG!
As someone else has already pointed out, that kind of poignant tv drama doesn't really exist anymore. It's a little too optimistic to expect an Original-Dynasty-season 1-quality. That is never going to happen, not on the CW, not anywhere.

I seem to recall Joan Collins saying that her last contract stipulated that no one else could ever play Alexis -- presumably to prevent the character from catching the recasting bug which had become epidemic around DYNASTY.
Is it possible an "in perpetuity" line was part of that clause??
Can they only legally revive Alexis if Dame Joan shows up??

There's a loophole: Blake's ex-wife was originally going to be "Madeline." All they have to do is use that name and Joan can't sue.
