iv' e read 2 actually 1. is Point of Origin (1998) by Patrica Cornwell that would be book #9 i bought ti way back in (1999) when it hit paperback on a lark pretty much and it took me over 20 years to read it! and it's easily one of the best books in the series i think. and the x-mas book i posted about on another thread called Scarpetta's Winter Book (1998) by the same author. so far this year i'm on a row in this past week i've read 4 books! well week and a half really. one day last week i finished 2 books on 2 days in a row. i had 74 pages left of one of them that would Unnatural Exposure (1997) Scarpetta book #8. same & Death Du Jour by Kathy Reichs (1999) book #2 in her Temperance Brennan books. i've read this far more books this year since (2018)! that year i read #7 as i have this written down and i'm looking at it now.

this year though it's thus far #7 so it's tie for now i dunno what i'm gonna read next i may read the next Scarpetta book since i've just got that character stuck in my head lol and it's Black Notice (1999)

Johnny Cash: The Life by Robert Hilburn
Johnny Cash is one of those figures whose influence extends beyond merely being an entertainer but his legacy as recounted here seems to be as much as an example of what to avoid as what to follow.

Year of Yes - Shonda Rhimes

61HS4s3tkRL.jpg

Ms Rhimes tells the story of how she changed her approach to life by saying yes to every invitation or opportunity that she was presented with during a year of her life. A lot of the things seem like pretty mundane stuff like accepting an award, going on a chat show, playing with her children or doing a speech but Shonda is such a good writer that makes the mundane seem interesting. I thought the book was compelling and so well written and very funny in places.

Black Notice (1999) by Patrica Cornwell Book #10 in the Kay Scarpetta series and a good one too! it's not gonna be one of my favorites per say but it was still good though. right now i'm trying for like the 10th freaking time reading John Saul's (2000) book "Nightshade' i tried to reading it back when it 1st came out but it's one of those books where you lose interest and it's not because it's a bad book either, funny thing i now own the book that i got from the Library book that i tried to read back than. if i do actually finish it this time it will have taken me over 20 years to actually finish the damn thing!

In Cold Blood (the late, great Truman Capote's 1965 "non-fiction novel" classic about the gruesome, grisly murders of the Clutter family in Holcomb, KS in 1959)

Sharon Tate : Recollection
A book written by Sharon Tate's sister featuring a lot of beautiful photos of Sharon from she was a baby through her childhood and into her brief career as a model and actress. It doesn't at all dwell on the horror of her death, but is instead a celebration of her life and how good of a person she was. I loved it, it's a beautiful book.

Elizabeth Taylor : My Love Affair with Jewellery
I had wanted this book for a very long time. I believe it was published sometime in the '00s and have been aware of it for years. It usually goes for a lot of money though and I could never justify the cost of it. I recently found it on eBay for a really good price and snapped it up. It's a gorgeous book with huge photos of Taylors most famous and fabulous jewels and stories about them. How she acquired them, what they meant to her etc.

Both of these books are large coffee table books and beautiful to look at. I haven't read any novels or fiction in a while.

A certain best-selling authoress is mildly disappointed by this and asked me to make a couple of recommendations to you:

I can't imagine how the story of one of those 45 minute episodes would be as a novel? I see there were a lot of those books published. Are they actual stories from the show?

I wasn't sure and had to look here.

According to the page, there were four books in the mid-Eighties and each one was based on two episodes of the show.

But the spin-off series of novels which began in the late-Eighties are original stories, I think.

They seem to have been produced at the rate of two per year, and they're still being written!! A new one came out earlier this month, and the next is due in November.

Wouldn't that make Jessica Fletcher the most published fiction writer ever? Or close to it, even though she's a work of fiction herself?

The Candidate - Jeremy Corbyn's Improbable Path To Power by Alex Nunn

51cR8HDJO5L.jpg

One of the best political books I've read. The story of how against all the odds, Jeremy Corbyn became leader of the Labour Party and how he defied all predictions by taking Labour to the brink of power in the 2015 general election. A totally engrossing book from start to finish that reads a bit like a thriller.
