After visiting the ABBA museum yesterday. We rewatched "Mamma Mia!" tonight. Such a feel good movie. Funny and lots of great music. :)

Following on from the Ealing films, I've started a watch of a British comedy film series that picks up in the same era the Ealings left off. Starting with…

Doctor In The House

The Conjuring 2 with Bates Motel's Vera Farmiga, who's become one of my favorite actresses. I don't really like (or watch) horror movies at all, but this was truly excellent. One of the best new movies I've seen this year. Beautifully filmed, well written, and fine acting on top of that. The true story it is based on was a compelling after-movie research project.

Thanks a lot Ome for your post, that reminded me that I had both movies at home and never watched them!! I must change that really soon, I also love Miss Farmiga!! I did watch the first "Conjuring" (in Spain, released with the prefix "Warren File"!).

For anyone who hasn´t watched "Orphan", you can take a look at the trailer here:

(...though I myself think I shouldn´t have watched it...) :eck::danc:

LOL

Orphan is a film best watched knowing as little as possible. I'd like to say more or even why, but then I'd be breaking the law...

I finally watched this one...

No, not that one, I was just kidding...
It scared the hell out of me!! At first the girl reminded me a bit of Olivia from "Knots", but then...well, as you said, Ome, the less you know, the best watched. I wish I hadn´t even watched the trailer but...
Honestly, I thought
the "conclusion" would be less "realistic", so to say, and that makes it so much more terrifying!!
Formiga and Skarsgaard are great as usual, and when the movie finished, I googled the child actress´s name and found out that she´s playing Lizzy Caplan´s very stupid daughter on "Masters of Sex"...
Thanks again for reminding me I had this one at hand!

My Doctor romp continued last night with the second in the series…

Doctor At Sea

The first English-language film appearance of Brigitte Bardot. Very pretty she was too.

It was an enjoyable film, with some nice scenery. But on the down side it was lighter on the terribly British charm of Doctor In The House, and I wanted to know what happened to Simon's peers from the first film.

Ha !
At first the girl reminded me a bit of Olivia from "Knots", but then...well,
Yes, I can see that too.

Honestly, I thought

It really is quite a story and the way it was executed is why I still remember it so vividly. I'm glad you enjoyed it, I'm not much of a movie fan, if I've seen 1000 movies, I've usually really enjoyed about 30, and liked 90.

After watching Doctor At Large on Friday, last night's film was Doctor In Love:

An enjoyable little film, with a host of familiar faces and more Carry On crew present than in some of the Carry Ons:

I didn't miss Dirk Bogart at all.

Force Majeure - Swedish, but internationally known, film from 2014, starring Johannes Bah Kuhnke, Lisa Loven Kongsli & Kristofer Hivju (more known as Tormund the wildling from Game of Thrones).

I thought it was gonna be a disaster movie about a family getting caught in an avalanche. I'm happy that I was wrong.

It's a drama-comedy set in the Alps. A family has a near-death moment when they believe that they will be trapped in an avalanche. It grows into a very awkward & tense situation because the wife feels like her husband ran away to save his own life instead of trying to help her & their kids.

A terrific movie about short-comings and family. I loved it!!

Plus beautiful scenary.
