It's a fantasy of what Hollywood would have been like after the war if people were more accepting of diversity. I'm not sure if it was helpful rewriting the history of real life people but overall it was an entertaining enough series.

I really like it. From start to end.
Just wondering if it's a trend to rewrite real people stories as alternate realities. Like the movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood... (Sure the "once upon a time" part of the title gives it away. It's a kind of fairytale)

Watching The Sinner... Season 1 is quite good, and I've been reading everywhere that season 2 was even better.

I'm halfway through the Season 1 finale of Ozark on Netflix. Wow, it's great.

I was getting really excited when I discovered the many titles available to buy from Prime (no membership required) such as BOSS Season 2, CASTLE ROCK and AHS Season 7 to 9, THE SON (A Texan empire epic) and I was getting super-greedy because it's all instantly available, but when I compared them to the DVD releases I noticed that the physical DVDs are actually cheaper than the Prime purchases.
But I don't need all those DVDs, so...now I don't know what to do or what to choose and I hate indecisiveness. *wrings hands*

They also have DEUTSCHLAND 83/86 although it's probably going to be a challenge to read foreign subtitles over a different foreign audio.
Oh wait TRUE DETECTIVE Season 3 is also available, how did that happen without the usual hype and fanfare?

Eventually I decided to buy a season, if only to see how it works, but it kept going back to the payment options. No explanation whatsoever, it just wouldn't let me buy it.
But at least it solves a part of my problem: no more of this streaming nonsense.

Some parts in Deutschland 83 are done in English, most of them include US soldiers in Germany played by English or American actors. Deutschland 86 is located for a large time in Africa, they filmed that in English too, if I remember correctly.

Deutschland 83
is really the best German TV series I've ever seen. It reflects my life in the 1980s so much (even though I was maybe two or three years younger than the lead). Peace marches, awareness of Aids and the differences between the two German countries. I absolutely love the scene when my hero Martin (Jonas Nay) is listening to music over a walkman for the first time. BTW the music selection is great too!

Deutschland 86
has a different tone, due to the change in locations and what happened to the characters after 1983 but it's still very entertaining.

In both series the main events are actually historically correct even though it appears to be unbelievable. A final season, Deutschland 89 is coming but I don't know the date.

I am currently watching Middlemarch (the 1994 BBC series) on Amazon Prime. I do feel a bit guilty because every episode makes me believe even more I should be reading it as it feels like a simplified version, but I have become too lazy in my old and quarantined age. Maybe when I can travel again and have hours to spend reading by the window seat on a train somewhere in Europe.

It's been a while I think. Better than season 2, and yet nowhere as good as the brillant and perfect season 1

That doesn't bother me, not everything has to be the best.

Tonight I'm going to watch the last episodes of THE AMERICANS. Oh my god, how is it going to end for the fake Jennings family and FBI neighbour Stan?

And after that I'm going to do all of TWIN PEAKS. Oh my god.

It's really good for you and unfortunately for me, I am very different. Having a great first season, and then a mediocre season 2 really kills my enjoyment. I really prefer when a show goes the other way.

You mean the 90's season 1 & 2 + movie + the 2017 "Return" (season 3) ?

But it was so different, I wasn't thinking of the first story when I watched series 2.

Yes I bought the 2017 version last week and I think it's better to refresh my memory and let myself be bewildered by the wonders of original Twin Peaks. I'm just in the right mood for it.

@Canon suggested I re-watch Fire Walk With Me prior to The Return and I'm glad I did.

Yes. But take AHS for example, each season is (almost) on its own. Except for the same actor playing different characters. I can't help to expect the same quality than a previous season, even if the stories are different.

Season 3 is quite a beast. I obviously won't spoil it for you, but it's really, really different than season 1 & 2.
Fans of the 90's season either loved or hated season 3 (The Return)... I adored it but I can understand why its was quite frustrating for some fans.

The way to watch, in order is : 90's season 1 & 2 + movie + the 2017 "Return" (season 3)
