She was born in 1970 as well, so age isn't an excuse. I'm younger than her and all my peers at school were talking about Bobby Ewing and the dream. Even the ones who didn't watch. They may have all been laughing at it, but he was very much in people's consciousness.

About what age was the contestant? Many people under the age of 35 don't know much about Dallas from my conversations.

The Fugitive was one of the highest rated TV series in the 1960s, its final episode had one of the highest TV audiences ever but how many of us know the answer to the above question? I only knew it because I watched the series when it was repeated in the 1980s.
I agree with @Michelle Stevens, most people in their 30s or younger know almost nothing about Dallas.

Very true. On shows like The Chase younger contestants invariably stumble on a lot of the pop culture questions, unless it's something that happened in the last fifteen years.
On Pointless, the presenters give young people who use the "before my time" excuse a pretty rough ride. And it is a very lame excuse when it comes to historical figures or world events. But in terms of older TV shows, even the most studious of younger people are likely to get tripped up.
I've probably picked up information about - or could guess at - shows, films and songs that were before my time that I've never watched. But a great deal of that is because I spend so much time here. And your example from The Fugitive is a really good example of one that I'd struggle with if put on the spot.

Dallas makes up about 99.9 per cent of my brain so it is understandable that I have nothing in common with these idiots
However how do you explain the young woman who answered ‘Who was shot in Dallas?’ and instead of saying JFK she said, “JR”.

I'm veering off topic but one of the reasons why I like Pointless over The Chase is that Pointless is more accessible because it not just about whether or not you know the answer like in The Chase, but whether you chose to give an obvious answer or go for a more obscure one. In most rounds you're able to answer at least one question so it seems less elitist.
