Holby City to end in 2022

James Anderson is returning as Oliver Valentine for Holby City’s recently filmed last Christmas episode.

Amanda Mealing, currently on a break from Casualty (and has directed some Coronation Street episodes) has stated that she offered to return as Connie Beauchamp for the end of Holby City but a return appearance won’t be happening, as the show has to tie up storylines in a short time.

I've seen a few people online pointing towards Waterloo Road being added to BBC iPlayer during lockdown and speculating that views must have been high enough for them to revive it.

This is a nice idea. I guess some characters can only feature in social media clips in other soaps to be less disruptive to their normal filming schedules.

Regarding "another new long running drama series will be set in either Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland", I wonder why they haven't networked River City in order to bump up their diversity quota?

I've not watched Holby for a few years now but it's still sad to see it's really coming to an end. I hope the final episode gets a huge audience when it's broadcast to send the show out in style.

Good old Digital Spy and their clickbait. A title that promises everything and an article that doesn't really say how it will end.
