Thank you for remembering my dear friend. The cake was so good!

I'm sorry I haven't been posting as regularly. I'm just been busy with work. After Thanksgiving I should be back to normal, or as normal as I get. :p

I have to admit that after I picked DFF I kind of regretted it a little. The more I said it to myself the less I liked it but I’ve become so used to it now that I won’t change it cause that would just confuse everyone. It has grown on me since.
Its so difficult choosing a name. I also regretted my name for a long time and almost changed it.

I like your name by the way :cool1 I like how it can be shortened to DFF.

It is nice when it gets cooler here and the humidity lessens. Like right now it’s 7 o’clock at night and it’s still 78 degrees. A few times during the winter months it will go down to the 40s. DFF doesn’t really like it that cold but considering how cold it gets where you are I have no right to complain. I guess living down here has spoiled me a little.
Yes you're spoiled rotten by that weather :D ... I bet you don't need to wear a tacky Christmas Jumper on Christmas day

I enjoy seeing this as well. I think the thing I enjoy the most about Christmas is going to the malls and seeing all the decorations in the stores. All of that stuff makes me feel pretty good.
Yes I enjoy this too. The atmosphere gets me in the Christmas mood. As we get nearer to Christmas some of our shops stay open later for 'late night shopping' and I try and go at least once to see all the lights in the dark.

I also try and get to a Christmas market, they're usually over-priced but have some unique gifts, mulled wine etc.

This is going to be hard to believe but even with my job this year they are predicting a very slow season. This is the first time I’ve heard this in 24 years. So even the shipping business is slow right now.
Oh wow, I never expected you to say this. I know we are all on an economic downer at the moment, but I thought you would always stay busy in your job. On a positive note it might be nice for you to have a more evenly paced run up to Christmas for once.

Yes, despite officially being a teenager now she does still look forward to seeing her uncle. I kind of struggle with the letting go stuff a little. She has a zillion friends and I see her less now but I get it. Still my baby though no matter what. That won’t ever change.
You two obviously have a close bond :)

! I was thinking about leaving the second they closed down work and get out of dodge but she ended up hitting another part of the state. That’s the most difficult part with these storms. They’re so unpredictable and they often end up turning.
I can't begin to imagine the confusion you must feel once you know their is a possibility of a storm hitting you? having to decide if to stay or go? I'm so glad this latest one turned around and left you in peace.

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet DFF?

I don't know whats wrong with me today I can't stop talking Christmas :loon:

Its so difficult choosing a name. I also regretted my name for a long time and almost changed it.
Well, I’m glad you didn’t cause I think it’s one of the very best names I’ve seen.

I like your name by the way :cool1 I like how it can be shortened to DFF.
Thank you Lashes! I’ve kind of gotten used to it now.

Yes you're spoiled rotten by that weather :D ... I bet you don't need to wear a tacky Christmas Jumper on Christmas day
One of the few places I know where we can wear shorts on Christmas Day. But I’m not so sure that’s a good thing actually. Sometimes it really doesn’t feel like Christmas here. I do think Christmas is meant to be celebrated with the snow and the cold but obviously that’s not happening over here.

As we get nearer to Christmas some of our shops stay open later for 'late night shopping' and I try and go at least once to see all the lights in the dark.
I love when the shops start staying open later. It’s funny cause I’m walking in the same stores I walk in all year round yet everything just looks so much better at Christmas between the lights and all the decorations. They just look like the average stores when it’s not Christmas. At Christmas everything seems more special.

I also try and get to a Christmas market, they're usually over-priced but have some unique gifts, mulled wine etc.
I like these because, again, it’s something special compared to the rest of the year. We get to see things this time of year we usually don’t get a chance to see.

I know we are all on an economic downer at the moment, but I thought you would always stay busy in your job. On a positive note it might be nice for you to have a more evenly paced run up to Christmas for once.
Well, so much for it not staying busy Lashes cause ever since I typed that we’ve been swamped LOL!! So much for their predictions!

I can't begin to imagine the confusion you must feel once you know their is a possibility of a storm hitting you? having to decide if to stay or go? I'm so glad this latest one turned around and left you in peace.
Confusion is the best word for it. I will pack my bags and start getting ready to leave but then you also have to be sure to head in the right direction. These storms don’t always follow the path they’re predicted to take and if you’re not careful you can drive right back into it. Not to mention the panic on the roads with everyone buying supplies last minute.

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet DFF?
I haven’t yet. I’ve been looking but unfortunately I have a few difficult people to shop for. Every family has those I guess.

I don't know whats wrong with me today I can't stop talking Christmas :loon:
There’s nothing wrong with that my friend. I know you don’t have the Thanksgiving holiday where you live but for some reason that’s all I’m thinking about right now. I’m having a very hard time waiting for Thursday. It must be the diet and so it’s all the food we’re having that day that I’m thinking about. That’s all I can figure.

Have a great week Lashes and the same goes for everyone else!

We rarely get snow on Christmas day either DFF, its usually raining or frosty.

Yes I feel the same. I went to TESCO today and they had piles of Christmas trees on sale and for some reason it made me smile.

Well, so much for it not staying busy Lashes cause ever since I typed that we’ve been swamped LOL!! So much for their predictions!
Oh no! they got those predictions very wrong :yikey: ... try and pace yourself DFF, we don't want you being exhausted at Christmas.

That’s a good question LOL!! I guess if I ever see shorts with snow on them I’ll buy them cause that’s the only chance I’ll ever have of seeing snow down here on Christmas.

We rarely get snow on Christmas day either DFF, its usually raining or frosty.
I’m surprised you don’t get snow on Christmas. By the way it’s 79 degrees here right now and it’s almost 8pm. We were hoping for a nice cool Thanksgiving down here this year but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.

Yes I feel the same. I went to TESCO today and they had piles of Christmas trees on sale and for some reason it made me smile.
I know what you mean. I once worked on a Christmas tree lot when I was a teenager and it was one of my favorite jobs I ever had. It was a lot of fun. Nothing like the smell of a real Christmas tree to me!

Oh no! they got those predictions very wrong :yikey: ... try and pace yourself DFF, we don't want you being exhausted at Christmas.
The forecast is still a slow season but I told my boss very nicely that I think her math is a little off. She reminded DFF that she’ll remember that the next time he needs her to participate in the coverup of the murder of a defenseless iguana so I decided it was probably best if I dropped the bad math part. It was unusually slow most of November but this past week and a half I have watched it go KABOOM finally. I don’t mind it though. This time of year is a lot of fun for me. It’s tiring and it’s hectic but I do enjoy bringing my customers their orders and making them happy.

Reading this makes it even more scary because I didn't realise those storms were so unpredictable that you wouldn't know where they're heading?
Usually the forecast on these storms is accurate (unlike my company) but they quite often turn at the last hour in my experience. I think that’s why a lot of people just wait them out because you’re not always sure what to do or where to go.

Well, its Thursday now :D

and as I post this I imagine you're having a fab day
Thank you Lashes! It was a very nice Thanksgiving. I’m tired and very full and now realizing that I probably just shredded my diet to bits but hey that’s what holidays are all about.

So sorry, I can't remember? :confuse:

We'll have to ask DFF
I believe our goal was 5300 by January 1, wasn’t it? Now let’s see, we’re at 5173 now which means we need 127 posts in 36 days. Three posts a day wouldn’t do it but four a day would put us over the threshold. I think we’re fine.

Have a nice weekend my friend and everyone else as well!!

You're such a hero to those Orchids :)

.....oh hang on a minute! do the budgies know what you've been doing to those bugs? :eck:
They know and defending an orchid which can not defend themselves from pest, parasites is justifiable in their tiny eyes.

This made me laugh. It gave me a vision of my three Orchids gossiping about me every time I leave the room or the house :lmao:
In their own way I'm sure they do. BTW, how are your orchids doing my friend?

You've done so well this year :D all your efforts of looking after them so patiently is paying off.

By the way our local shops are now selling Poinsettias, I'll leave it a few weeks before condemning one of them into my care.

Our stores are full of Poinsettias. I hope your fifth attempt is a success. You came so close with Biggie.

I guess if I ever see shorts with snow on them I’ll buy them cause that’s the only chance I’ll ever have of seeing snow down here on Christmas.
Yes you must get some, maybe you and I could start a business designing hot weather Christmas clothing?

I’m surprised you don’t get snow on Christmas. By the way it’s 79 degrees here right now and it’s almost 8pm.
We do occasionally get snow, but more often than not it tends to be dull damp day. We have had snow this week though, I say 'we' but further north than us they've had quite a bit of the white stuff.

Wow 79 degrees at 8pm, I'd love that  .. I'm not great in hot weather but I always enjoy summer evenings and being able to sit outside at the end of the days.

I once worked on a Christmas tree lot when I was a teenager and it was one of my favorite jobs I ever had. It was a lot of fun. Nothing like the smell of a real Christmas tree to me!
I bet that was a busy job, its a very serious business choosing which Christmas tree to buy :D .. I like the small of them too.

I've recently bought our fist Christmas tree of this year, its about 4 inches high  .. I so like these cute miniature trees. As we get nearer to Christmas we'll get a proper sized one too.

The forecast is still a slow season but I told my boss very nicely that I think her math is a little off. No apology is ever necessary my friend! And we’ve missed you as well. Even I haven’t been around here much lately to be honest. Things have been very hectic.

maybe you and I could start a business designing hot weather Christmas clothing?
I do like the sound of this Lashes! It would definitely be a big hit down here.

We do occasionally get snow, but more often than not it tends to be dull damp day. We have had snow this week though, I say 'we' but further north than us they've had quite a bit of the white stuff.
Would you believe I haven’t seen snow since 1996? I guess I avoid going up north during the cold months for the most part but I do miss seeing snow.

I hope you didn’t get snowed on too badly this week though?

Wow 79 degrees at 8pm, I'd love that  .. I'm not great in hot weather but I always enjoy summer evenings and being able to sit outside at the end of the days.
And let’s see......................

Right now it’s 75 at about 9PM so it looks like we’re having a cold front LOL. It’s just not cooling down this year for us. Usually by early November we get some cool weather but I’m still roasting here in early December.

I know what you mean about the summer evenings. The hot weather does get old after awhile but down here there’s the luxury of staying outdoors most of the time. If I had this weather as a kid year round I would’ve stayed outside all night and sharpened my baseball skills instead of taking 5 months off every fall and winter and having to start over every spring (he says with no apparent bitterness).

I bet that was a busy job, its a very serious business choosing which Christmas tree to buy :D .. I like the small of them too.
Yes, it was very busy but I did like it. The toughest part was it was a very dirty job. I mean extremely dirty! I kept ruining my uniforms from all the dirt and grime, and I’d end up with pine needles all over my hair and in my shoes. But it was fun though. I really enjoyed helping people pick out their trees and trimming them for them. Plus for the ones that were lucky enough to get assigned out there it got us out of working inside the store itself. That was where the real madness was of course.

I've recently bought our fist Christmas tree of this year, its about 4 inches high  .. I so like these cute miniature trees. As we get nearer to Christmas we'll get a proper sized one too.
I like the smaller trees too. I haven’t even bought one yet this year cause it’s been so crazy at work already. For many, many years I didn’t put up a tree but that’s changing this year.

Oh the poor iguanas o_O ... I did like your bosses reply though..Lol!
They’re such interesting reptiles to observe but I have the feeling their vision isn’t exactly the best. Or, as my boss pointed out, it could be my vision that’s off.

You're so good with your customers DFF , just take care around their decorations ;)
Thank you for saying that Lashes! And as for the decorations, well, I’ve only taken one spill so far this season.

That's so scary. I hope you have no storms forecast for the holidays.
Luckily, the hurricane season is officially over for us but I guess you never really know down here. Let’s hope it’s over anyway!

I'm glad you enjoyed it and hey, don't worry about dropping the diet, you can't possibly have Thanksgiving or Christmas without participating in the food ... it would be rude not to
I have to agree. The holidays are largely about all the good food in my book and I guess I overdid a little it on Thanksgiving but that’s fine. I’ve dropped 40 pounds and who knows, maybe, just maybe, DFF is now secretly in training for a baseball comeback but hasn’t told anyone yet. You never know! That’s between us of course Lashes.

Dallas Festive Fan forever
Wow! There’s a lot going on with this one. I can see you’re taking this seriously Lashes. I kinda like it. It’s basically the same username but you added Festive. So now I’d be DFFF.

Dangly Decorations Fan Forever
LOL!! I love this because it made me think of work and all the scars I have from the last 24 Christmases.

It’s very simple yet it fits my username well. Hmmmm

A Dallas Christmas forever
This might be the winner. It’s very close to what I used last year and it sounds really good when I repeat it. You’ve given me a lot to think about.

Well bad news here. Streetie is generally fine here with me and Princess is fine with my Mother but Duchess is looking very ill and could die. I think she was over-watered by my Mother and we are trying to dry her soil out in hopes to save her. I didn't bag them this year so they are not colouring too much, at least yet.

Now I do have a new plant and story to go with it. Pippa The Pepper. My neighbor had a garden of plants on her porch this summer and when they died-back she left them unattended as the frost moved in. Most were Tomatoes which were to die anyway but one red pepper plant looked okay. I read that peppers can winter-over so on 16 November I brought her in from the looming frost. My neighbor could care less and I took her into my home a few days later. On 29 November I gave Pippa The Pepper a pruning so she will be able to grew with new leaves in the Spring. Pippa The Pepper is now in a window with Streetie. Hopefully she makes it through winter and I plant to take her to my Mother's garden in May.

You should be at our house DFF, we currently have snow o_O ... and lots of it. Right now its dark and the temps dropped below freezing so now we have frozen snow.

I still get that excited feeling when it snows, but right now I'm dreading driving in it tomorrow, although they're pretty good around here for gritting the roads .. the problem is getting out of the driveway and our lane.

Pippa The Pepper is now in a window with Streetie. Hopefully she makes it through winter and I plant to take her to my Mother's garden in May.
Ooo how flipping lucky Pippa The Pepper is that you saw her :D and also a fab new friend for Streetie who has a similar history.

I'll be very interested to hear how she gets along, I've never had a pepper-plant and will enjoy learning about them for you Michelle .. oops I mean Sexmas :Clol:

And guess who I found in the TT attic ..

You’re welcome Lashes! I’m glad you found the name you like cause as you can see I’m still struggling with changing mine LOL
I know what you mean and I can't believe how difficult it is to decide.

between you and I DFF one night I couldn't get to sleep so my mind drifted off to TT and trying to choose a Christmas name :giggle:

.. although I made a bit of a mistake on the 'Festive Name Thread' .. I asked for Santa Lashes instead of Santas Lashes, it doesn't matter though, I think both names work.

I guess I should make a decision soon before Christmas is over, shouldn’t I? The problem is I’m waffling between three different names, ALL of which you suggested by the way!
Lol! .. it might be easier not to change your name DFF

I hope you’re having a great weekend my friend, and of course the same goes for everyone else!
You too my friend, I hope life is being good to you
