I did last Thursday, 19 May. All three, Streetie, Princess and Duchess were pruned. They needed it. I hate cutting my plants but I know it's for their own good.
How are they, have they had a new lease of life since being pruned?
Many people don't do the research needed to care for orchids. There are some basic knowledge needed to understand their care or else one can kill their plant. I've run into this when talking to others who have had orchids. Some think they bloom all the time. I have a few that have never rebloomed, mostly due to recovery from a trama.
You've a mind of knowledge about these plants Michelle

I'm glad to hear you pass on tips to other people.
Speaking of that my
Sunburst, orchid #4, has rebloomed after two years of recovery.
She a mini as compared to the blooms of
Tippie to the left.
Oh my goodness, she is a little goddess!

shes the very definition of
Sunburst, what gorgeous blooms she has, wow! it was well worth waiting two years for.
Tippie is also very unusual and beautiful, the centre of her blooms look like gems. And she did made me laugh, because she looks like shes photo-bombing
You must be hard at work getting you garden together for Summer. Is everything in place?
Its a long project

. The thing is, even when the garden is absolutely perfect their is always something that needs doing, I guess that's why I love it out there in the soil .... with the worms and snails.
BTW, have you revisited the Doggie Cafe from a few years ago?
Yes. I've been back a couple of times and I'm pleased to say the place is busier than ever. A friend of mine who is a wheelchair user had a birthday a couple of weeks ago and we ordered a ....'takeaway afternoon tea' ..... to celebrate, they don't deliver, but we don't live far so I easily picked it up. Anyway, they'd put each persons (their were 4 of us) afternoon tea in separate bags and in each bag was also a small bouquet of flowers, they looked wonderful, I thought this was a nice extra touch.
I have yet to name all that I have rescued in the past three months. There is Moxy and Roxy, Marbles and Muffin and Polara and Omni, plus three others. Moxy is having some issues due to the moss she was in so I'm trying to save her. All were given to be by the lady at the grocery store as no one would buy them for Easter or Mother's Day.
Oh my, these are lucky Orchids to have found you, I hope
Moxy pulls through. I like all the names too, how do you think of them?
I wish you lived closer as I would have given you as many orchids as you could handle.
I'd love that
. I don't know if I flew to England if I could bring plants with me.
You'd have to charter your own plane and fill the seats with Orchids instead of people
I had a sad nature story today while I was taking a morning walk in my town. I came across a Catbird lying on the street sidewalk. At first I thought it was dead but it's eyes opened when I approached.
It may have been hit by a car as it moved when I got close but I didn't want to startle it, for it to jump into the road. I really couldn't do much as the local humane societies don't care for wild animals. I am hoping it just was stunned and could return to nature. I surely don't have the means to care for an injured bird. It was sad to see but with so much Spring activities with the birds I'm not surprised. If this Catbird was caring for it's young I would be ever more sad. Nature can be cruel.
Aww its such a cute little thing, I don't think you or anyone could've done anything for it Michelle, sometimes when us humans try to help we can make it worse for birds. Lets keep our fingers crossed that it regained its strength and flew away to safety. I agree with you that it is sad when we come across things like this, we've had birds fly into our conservatory window with a loud crash, I hate it when that happens, but usually (not always) the birds do flutter away again.
