Sea Wife (1957)
In this movie Joan Collins portrays sister Therese, who is travelling on a refugee ship that is torpedoed in the Second World War.
She and some other passengers survives the event and is ship-wrecked on a deserted island. One of the other survivors
is Michael Cannon who is portrayed by Richard Burton. He falls in love with sister Therese, not knowing that she is a nun...
He calls her Sea Wife and she knows him as Biscuit. The film was shot in Jamaica and is based on the 1955 novel Sea-Wyf and Biscuit by
James Maurice Scott. It is a romantic British drama directed by Bob McNaught.

Round Eighteen: The 2000’s
The first decade of the new millennium was characterized by new ways to communicate, as the use of social media like facebook, youtube and twitter spread like a fire around the world and lead to globalization. At the same time the world embarked on the war on terror after the 9/11 attacks in New York City and Pentagon. It became a rather bleak decade in that sense and a financial crisis also increased unemployment rates in many countries. George W Bush was the President of the USA for most of the decade and in 2008 the first African American President was elected. Tony Blair was prime minister in the UK. The European Union expanded to include the Eastern European nations and a lot of countries in the EU changed currency to the Euro. Pope John Paul II died in 2005 and a new pope was chosen. On Boxing Day in 2004 a huge Tsunami hit South East Asia causing huge destruction in Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, the Maldives, Malaysia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and Indonesia. Australia suffered from the black Saturday bushfires and Hurricane Katrina devastated huge parts of New Orleans. An epidemic of swine flu also broke out in 2009 and killed thousands of people around the globe.
Meanwhile it was business as usual in the dream factory that spitted out one movie after another that could help people forget at least momentarily about all the bad news from this decade. But which movie from this decade is your favorite?
