Okay I'm gonna try to list my favorite ten Elizabeth movies now and the difficulty with this is that I could easily list 20 movies. :D
But oh well here we go:

1. Cleopatra (1963)
Because I've always been fascinated by Egypt and Queen Cleopatra and also it was on this movie that Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton's romance blossomed. It's also the first movie with them that I saw.

2. Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
This is the movie that turned me into a fan or made me realize that I was one and gave me a craving for more Elizabeth & Richard movies.
It made me aware of their talent. It is just so raw and wonderful.

3. The Sandpiper (1965)
I love this movie. Probably the one Elizabeth movie I've watched the most times. I can watch it over and over.

4. Giant (1956)
It has a JR and the oil business do I need to say more? ;)

5. The Taming of the Shrew (1967)

My favorite Shakespeare movie and hilarious. It's just so funny.

6. Raintree County (1957)
An other epic civil war story. It attempts to be a bit Gone with the wind like but turns out completely different. The main characters mental health is interesting.

7. National Velvet (1944)
The best movie of Elizabeth's childstarlet days. The little girl who dreams big and wins against all odds is adorable. It's a typical feel good family movie.

8. Secret Ceremony (1968)
Deliciously wicked. It's a twisted story and Elizabeth makes another marvellous performance.

9. Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (1958)

Another fascinating movie where Elizabeth puts in a marvellous performance. The story is just so good and entertaining.

10. A Little Night Music (1977)
I'm a sucker for musicals and this is one of the few musicals Elizabeth made...

Movies that it pains me to leave out of my top ten since they are just so good are:
Suddenly Last Summer, BUtterfield 8, The Only Game In Town, Blue Bird, The Mirror Crack'd, Between Friends, There Must Be A Pony, Zee and Company, A Place In The Sun, The Lassie Movies, etc. etc.

Same here, I guess we're the young ones in this thread:)

You know Willie being young doesn't necessarily mean that you don't like classic movies. I began developing an interest in classic movies when I was a teenager and first saw Cleopatra, Gone with the wind and a bunch of Elvis movies. So even young people can be into classic movies. ;)
However I do agree with you that if you are younger you have had less time to watch movies and have not seen as many different movies as people who are say 10-15 years older than you are.

Oh and while slightly off topic I just stumbled across this Elizabeth video that sort of celebrates what she accomplished in her life and her legacy:

Okay so apparently your favorite Elizabeth Taylor movie is:
giant-belgianposter-tn.jpg

Giant (1956)
This is an epic american western drama movie about a cattle family and the oil boom in Texas. In the movie Elizabeth Taylor portrays Leslie a young strongwilled woman who falls in love with Bick Benedict (portrayed by Rock Hudson) when he visits her family's ranch to buy a horse. They get married and she moves with him to Texas where she encounters discrimination against Mexicans. She also encounters their neighbour Jett Rink, who is searching for oil. Jett hits it big and becomes rich but he is not happy since he is unluckily in love with Leslie. The movie was directed by George Stevens and is based on Edna Ferbers book with the same name and spans over approx. 20 years time. However it is probably most famous for being the last movie James Dean ever starred in, as he was working on this movie when he was killed in a car crash at age 24.

You gave it a total of: 53 points.

Here's a trailer for the winning movie:

Then the second runner up movie was:

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)
It's time to play games with Martha & George as they throw a drunken after party for a new college professor and his wife.
Elizabeth won her second Oscar for the portrayal of a middle aged woman. At the time she was still in her early 30's.

You gave it a total of 46 points.

Here's a trailer for that movie as well:

Then here's the rest of the list:

Cleopatra (1963) 42 p.
Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (1958) 39 p.
National Velvet (1944) 27 p.
The Mirror Crack'd (1980) 27 p.

Weird that I've never seen this movie. I've always enjoyed those epic mini-series and this kinda looks like one.

It's worth a watch. It was a big influence on DALLAS. Jett Rink, Dean's character, is a prototype Digger Barnes even if his initials suggest another character.

GIANT is essentially the GWTW of Texas. Although they remastered the score 30 years ago, and now you can no longer hear the choir or the booming kettle drums.

Sheer blasphemy!

I agree Giant is a wonderful movie that does resemble GWTW and Dallas a bit. Over all it's just a great epic drama set in the west with a great cast. :)

I have never heard the original soundtrack though so I can't compare it.

Anyway @Willie Oleson you are in for a treat if you decide to watch it. It's divided in two parts. One where the main characters are young and one where they are older but don't really look it as the grey wigs didn't do much to age them!

I mean look at this screen cap of Elizabeth & Rock from Giant where they are supposed to be 20 years older:

images.jpg

Now compare it to this one from Mirror Crack'd where they actually are about 25 years older:

See what I mean? ;)
