that's kinda where i am i don't really care i mean about Will Smith and it being staged i dunno if it was or not, by the looks of it now since it's been nearly a week now i dunno it doesn't look like it cause Smith is now banned from going for 10 years. as i may have said i really wonder if he will lose his SAG card? had he went off on Rock instead of hitting him i don't think he would have gotten into as much Trouble but since he bitch smacked him who the hell knows? anyways and i disagree about that cause there are some good movies coming out today but it's true that it's not as good as say the 70's when we can make endless lists of movies that came out in that entire decade but in the last 5 years the list would be a hell of a lot shorter

Maybe because it wasn't really a spur of the moment decision, or maybe he wasn't that offended to begin with. To me it looks more like a statement than a punishment.
His verbal reaction afterwards appears to be rooted in the fact that he had put himself in this position (courtesy of Jada and Chris) rather than genuinely scolding the host for the tasteless joke. He was the victim because he hit Chris Rock.

Will and Jada have both had extramarital affairs, and to save face banged out some noise about an open marriage and all that jazz. Why our man here got bent out of shape over a weak jib at Jada who likes to be defiled by er'ybody while The Fresh Prince has calls up his late night boot knocker. What a circus their relationship is.

yeah i don't get their relationship either or their parenting style either i may not have kids but i think most people would go WTF? but this isn't about that, did anyone notice that Smith is more in the limelight than Rock? yeah he was the one who got bitch smacked but Smith is the victim it feels like , yes he does deserve what he gets on hitting Rock but Rock is Smart in not talking about it though he has said until he gets paid he's not talking about it and i can't say that i blame him on that.

I'm nearly tempted to re-activate my subscription just to watch this. I love Chris Rock. His style of comedy is take it or leave it which is exactly what comedy should be all about. I use to like Will Smith but the longer his career went on there was a perception of arrogance emanating from him. After the Oscar's incident I simply have no time for the bloke or his movies.

Some random article popped up in my news feed lambasting Rock for being anti-woke. They also accused him of trans bashing and misogyny.
I always take comments like that with a grain of salt. Everybody's hyper concerned with offending "the wrong" people, so they take everything a comic says about said people seriously. The author of the article also accused Rock of "embarrassing himself" for going after Will and Jada. However, many of the comments I've read are firmly on Rock's side. I personally thought the bit was hilarious, and the Smith's had it coming. They made their personal matters public, the media and Will's peers mocked him for it, but Rock is the one who got smacked over a tame GI Jane joke (which Smith laughed at.) Smith took out his aggression on someone weaker than him, so he deserves whatever he gets.

For Will Smith to create a scene like he did just minutes before he was expected to win the Oscar suggests a pronounced self-destructiveness. Marrying Jada suggests it, too.

I see people online saying that Chris is saying he’s not going to go on shows playing the victim yet by putting it in his act that’s exactly what he’s doing. I don’t know, I guess I don’t have a problem with him making light of it. I’m sure it’s what the fans paying to see his act want to hear about. One year later and we’re still talking about it so I can’t blame him for including it.
Whatever the case, I respect both men as entertainers. I’m a fan of both and I’m hoping they’ve either sat down and talked this out by now or that they will one day soon.

I’ve read that due to last year’s incident there will be a crisis team on hand at the Oscars this Sunday in case another ruckus should occur. Will Smith will not be attending. He resigned after last year’s ceremony and is banned for the next ten years as well, therefore the long-standing tradition of the previous year’s best actor winner presenting the award will be broken.
