This is ridiculous. Did you actually read my comments? I was making a general point which wasn't directed at anyone in particular. My exact words were "People who wear blue and white badges and ribbons criticising other for virtue signalling is the height of hypocrisy".

If this event was a stitch up then shame on them all for using what was once a prestigious event to further their failing careers. I've never enjoyed anything Jada was in. Will seems to approach his career with this bloated personality. It might have worked in his earlier career but sadly, not any more. I will refuse to watch anything he is in.

Shame on the academy for not getting security to remove both Will and Jada from the auditorium. A simple exercise which occurs in any other circumstance. And shame on those who stood and applauded this idiot when he stepped up to accept his award. The standing ovation should be reserved for next years awards for best publicity stunt.

For all that cancel culture to protect our modern society from politically incorrect race/gender/sexual stereotypes I think it's interesting that these two black men have done a very bad job at it.
There's Chris Rock capitalizing on the upbeat, clowny black man stereotype and then Will Smith reacts to it in a stereotypical uncivilized thuggish way.

The politically incorrect stereotypical gay equivalent would be Chris Rock in high heels and Will Smith hitting him with a handbag while screaming "keep your hands off of man, bitch!"

All these new rules about what you can't say and can't do...and I would totally support that if it would actually make this world a better place. But that's not happening at all. We're getting more rules and it's getting worse.
Smoking has been banned altogether - our precious children aren't even allowed to see cigarettes on display - and yet, smoking actors in movies and series hasn't been this popular since the 1960s, and it's not just the period dramas.
Condemning the real smokers but capitalizing on that old-fashioned idea that smoking is cool and/or glamorous. So conniving and hypocritical.

And everybody just keeps tweeting and tweeting and everybody has to react to that and then it becomes an issue.

Yeah, I've seen it. It either reveals that it was indeed all a set up, or that Jada is even worse than some of us thought... Whenever I see the original footage of Smith approaching Rock -- and then hitting him -- it still feels kinda staged (if only because of the improbable outrageousness of it) but what follows (Chris' stammering and Will's cussin') is rather well-played, if it's all faked.

But would they all go to this length to create such buzz? The aftershocks felt legit even if the initial moment seems fishy.
